Ok it seems all the cool kids are doing it so here ya go.... I was born in NJ and moved to Big Pine Key, Florida when I was 6. I thought my parents were insane to leave malls, McDonalds and AC. I adapted very well. My parents were afraid I was going to become a lush if I stayed in the Keys so they sent me to college at Florida State. I found this awesome/ironic. I played rugby in college. I was the hooker. Heh. I went to law school and hated it from day 1. Stuck with it, passed bar exam and taught school. Left because of parents and admin. Stay at home mom now, kids are 10 and 12. I have a beehive and a boxer named Molly who never leaves my side. My husband is a big deal executive for a cookie and cracker company- my garage is full of sweet, salty, unhealthy Snacks. My kids love to tell him he's killing America. It pays the bills. I do not have a Facebook account, Instagram or Twitter. Never will. I drive a big truck and I love to spy on people. Everywhere i go in talk to people. You can learn something from everyone. I love to read, play tennis, golf, do yoga (I teach) bike, can mangos, fish, kayak and am obsessed with finding an Indian arrowhead. I've been all over Florida trying to do so. They only thing I like on tv is the history channel. My kids are obsessed with history and we have been to all the civil war sites along the eastern seaboard. They all look exactly the same. I love learning. This site has been amazing. Thank you for sharing. It's so fun now to see your screen names and feel I know you all a bit better. I wish you all could come to my house for smoothies. You guys rock. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm a wine drinker and yes, it does hit me a bit harder but I haven't experienced any of the extreme reactions I've read on other boards. Maybe that's because I grew up in the Florida Keys and it's part of my chemistry. That being said I always make wine spritzers because I'm a fast drinker. I take a wine glass and add plain club soda and a few inches of wine, usually Pinot griot. It drives my father in law crazy to see me do they with the good stuff but I feel it's better than getting knee walking drunk. I'm all about keepin it classy! Woooohooo! And as everyone knows... When your chose to drink your calories you can't also expect miracles on the scale. Plan and exercise accordingly. Listen to your team, follow your plan and make adult decisions. Oh my I just realize I mentioned the dreaded C word. Carbonation (in club soda). I think we beat that horse to death on the "Diet Pop After Surgery" thread, right? Low BMI Gastric Sleeve story
jaxmom replied to lady10000000000's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you! When was your surgery? Mine was April 20th. I was 177 but am only 5'00". I was a revision from a band to a sleeve and it's much better. I'm down about 20 lbs and am thrilled. Hard to see some other posts where people have lost 30!pounds in a month but I've learned through this site not to compare. Plus I'm thrilled for each and every person who is losing- it's so motivating and genuinely makes me smile. I love this forum. :) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I need to do this, no matter what
jaxmom replied to Micoxv's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great story! That's hilarious she didn't even recognize you. Take it as a good thing. That being said, my doctor is notorious for seeing me when she has "stuff" going on. I don't have to see her often (hooray) but when I do she always has drama going on. I wonder how much of what I tell her she retains. Sorry, should have posted that in Rants and Raves section. Just wanted to tell you good for you on your levels. I also am loving the smoothie recipes, thanks so much! Take care and keep us posted. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Heeeeeee!!!!! That is the best example I have ever read about NO MANNERS. I feel so bad that you had this happen but wow, what a great story. Maybe you can be up front with future guys and totally cut to the chase- "if you are going to take your chompers out at the table on our first date please stop talking to me NOW." You rock for sharing this. I wish your the best with your journey and search for Mr. Right. :) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I hate that you are not smiling in your picture because you have done an awesome job- girl you need to enjoy this time and forget what others are saying!! Whenever you get down just come here and we will cheer you on and up. Congrats on the 149. I know you have been going through a stressful time with the break up so it's even more impressive. And yes, boys ARE dumb!!!! ;) I have to know- it's your screen name because of the singer or the dog? I love both. I'm a Miami girl at heart and Mr. 305 is one of my favorites. I had a pit for 12 years. She was my baby! Anyway you take care of YOU and don't let the negative comments get you down. You inspire me sooooo much!!! What Are Your Summer Plans?
jaxmom replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm heading down to Miami for 7 weeks with the kids. They go to nature/archeology camp on Biscayne Bay and since the camp won't let me in (something about age limit Pffft) I have created my own Mommy Camp. I bike, collect mangos, can mango chutney no one will eat, kayak, explore, take yoga classes and tennis lessons. This is our 4th year going and the last few have been kind of rough because of major surgeries and subsequent weight gain. I'm so excited to head down his year lighter, fitter and happier than I have been in years. My husband and kids are loving the mom who is always on the go and I'm loving life. Bring on the South Florida heat and humidity! I'm ready for you this year! At the end of the summer we are going on an 8 day Alaska cruise with my husbands family. My goal is lose enough weight to feel comfortable in the wet suit I'm going to wear when we go snorkeling in Ketchikan. I have had a life long fear of wet suits (I'm convinced I will look like a seal in one) so I specifically booked this trip to motivate me to move this summer. Just the thought of me trying to shimmy into a wet suit on the shore of a freezing cold body of Water makes me laugh so hard I'm already burning calories... I love hearing everyone's plans. Be safe and wear sunscreen and post pictures! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@Valentina- what a great idea using them as a pill carrier! It would probably be a less conspicuous way to get my xanex. Right now I have them strung on a necklace and lick them as needed, like one of those candy necklaces. Yes I get looks at the kids school but honestly I'm too mellow too care what those high strung moms think. I'm the happiest mom in the insanity that is the school parking lot. La La la la la la! I'm kidding of course. Be careful with those fishing lures! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hummmm a wristlet, huh? Not a bad idea. It actually reminded me of the ever fashionable fanny pack. Now THAT could work for me. My kangaroo fantasy could kinda come true AND I would be at the height of fashion. I mentioned this idea to da hubby and he just shook his head. My 12 year old daughter and 10 year old son looked terrified. Heh. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

3 weeks post VSG and depression is AWFUL
jaxmom replied to jessi29's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So it really was a baby skunk? And his name WAS Flower? My night has been made. I bet Flower is out there now cavorting with Bambi and Thumper. Jessie29 thank you for making me smile. I sincerely hope you are feeling better. :) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thank you for admitting you used yours as a pocket too. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. And my friend loves to remind me of my hissy fit. She's dating a cop and her first instinct was to send him to the house I screamed so loud but then she realized it was me and well, yeah. I would probably list "Seeing Myself on FaceTime" as a legit phobia. It's right after having my picture taken... Hopefully this surgery changes these fears! I love it when people post pictures. I've got big time goals huh? Jen's Goals for Summer 2016 1. Find a way to transport goods that does not involve undergarments. Come to terms with dream of wishing would wake up with kangsroo type pouch is not going to happen. -sigh- 2. Get over fear of seeing self on camera. At the very least need to stop shrieking (and possibly saying profane words) when camera points my way. I accept my challenge. Wish me luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm dying laughing... The three chins thing... Heheh!!!!! It gets me every time! I am notorious for sticking stuff down the front of my shirt and letting the girls act as a cubby/purse kinda thing. Wallet, keys, money, lipstick, phone, lists all go in my handy dandy front of the shirt pocket. And no... All these items do not go at the same time. Just one or two. Maybe three. A few months ago (pre surgery) I had a burst of insanity I mean energy so I tossed the phone in its spot and started vacuuming. Then I heard a voice... I looked at the sky, the floor the dog before I realized it was my phone. It was coming from my b-o-o-b-s. I had inadvertently called someone and OH MY GOD I WAS ON FACETIME. I screamed so loud my husband came running. I had thrown the phone across the room by that point and was just gasping and pointing to it. I could hear my friend say "Jennifer you idiot pick up the phone from the floor. I can see the ceiling and hear your screams. James, I feel bad you have to live with her especially since I saw inside her shirt". Well here is the thing- now that I'm down a few pounds my nifty holder no longer works. I was in Lowes looking at plants when my keys slipped right out of my shirt and hit the floor. I tried to look like I wanted it to happen but something tells me the guy snickering watering the plants didn't buy it. Jerk. So I'm off to buy bras and think about a more mature way of transporting my stuff. Awesome job Christinamo7. Keep the pictures coming! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

3 weeks post VSG and depression is AWFUL
jaxmom replied to jessi29's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Jessi9... Are you holding a baby skunk in your profile picture??? If so, how can you be depressed? A baby skunk!!!! That's so adorable my thumbs tingle as I type!! Sorry, just wanted to make you smile. Not at ALL trying to minimize what you are going through. Depression is tough, I know from experience. I really, really want you to know it does get better. You just went through major surgery and your body is healing. You have made a major life decision. One that is going to make you healthier and therefore likely happier. You need to be patient with yourself congratulate yourself on taking the steps to a healthier you! We are all here to support you. If you are in Florida, can I come play with that skunk? What's it's name? I secretly hope it's Flower. It's gonna get better. Here is a hug. O. Take care of yourself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Something you said made me think- (bacon and pepperoni ) Like another poster said, maybe it's the sodium? Before my sleeve I was trying to eat low carb high Protein and I was consuming a lot of both foods because they are easy and I'm not too fond of chicken or fish. I lost NOTHING. Actually I gained! Turns out I'm super sensitive to the sodium and nitrates in bacon and pepperoni. I've eliminated them from my diet and now I don't have to issues with retaining Water. I may have other issues, but that one is gone at least.... Try not to get frustrated (easy to say huh?) but I truly believe the correlation of stress making weight loss more difficult. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and I know I have to back away from the scale and see how my clothes fit (totally different). I also need to watch comparing myself to others- we are all different- starting weights, previous diets, medical conditions that factor in. So, deep breath- you have got this! It's awesome you joined a gym. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Oh fun!!! My daughter and I did a kayak trip down the Peace River (we are in Florida) a month after my surgery. We camped on the banks one night and had a blast. For food I was still taking it super careful with my sleeve so Protein shakes were the easiest for me. I also made a big batch of ground beef with Ruffled Pasta and sauce that we warmed up over the camp stove. I ate a few pieces of meat and it was heaven! I think your plan on bringing yogurts is great for something sweet. I also love the idea of the egg in a bag with mayo from a convenience store in it. This may be a good place to confess the other day we were in chick fil a and some low fat mayo and mustard packets may have fallen into my bag along with some Petes hot sauce. With those I can make anything!! I also like the hummus cups you can find everywhere now. Good, filling and portable. Breakfast was a shake for me, Peanut Butter sandwich and fruit for my daughter. Worked really well. Just remember to bring lots and lots of Water to stay hydrated while you are having all that fun. If you come up with any other tips please share them. This is a great topic. I can't wait to hear about your trip, here is a picture of our camp. Not too bad huh? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
