PRE Op Diet Hard to follow
mznita replied to LOLA121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was the hardest 2 weeks of my life. But I will say that Campbells cream soup with protein was my best friend ! I had my shake for breakfast, soup for lunch and dinner, and plently of liquids in between. I was good as long as I was "full" but when I messed around and missed that mark, I was ready to eat a chicken:blushing:, I ran and got my soup and added double protein. It will test your strength, but like Parrothead said, just keep your eyes on the prize. -
First fill today - oh, hell no.
mznita replied to voodoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wondering why the huge needles? The syringe they use on me is tiny and I don't even feel it when they poke through the skin. No numbing either. . I only had one fill but the dr. used a small needle. He just wiped me with alcohol and poked. I hate needles as much as as the next guy. But it wasn't as painful as some described. Thank goodness! -

I thought I was the only one with thise kind of burgles. It is sad/ funny because it does feel like they are coming from my feet all the way through my body. They are so lady-like:ohmy: -
Is there a DPA? Diet Pepsi Anonymous?
mznita replied to Melinco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain :smile2:. It is nothing like a nice cold Pepsi. I haven't had one since 10/29/09 so I do know how you feel. I am scared to drink pop now, don't want any problems. My dr told me I could try a diet pepsi and see if I can keep it down. I tried some sierra mist and I got full after a couple of sips. So no pepsi for me. Maybe I will get my nerve back up to try it again . -
Is your goal weight still considered 'overweight'?
mznita replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was like that too. In highschool, I thought I was BIG wearing a size 14. But now I would grateful to see a 14 again. I had gotten down to a size 16 before, I want to be able to do that again, and then I will worry about that later. First things first --- get to Onederland! :smile2: -

Random question...anyone have the Wii Fit?
mznita replied to lydialynch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to the dr. on Tuesday (12/29/09) and that was one of the questions that I asked his nurse. She said that she have a Wii and the wii fit, and just upgraded to the wii fit plus. She said she did enjoy the different "games". I was considering getting one for myself as a late Christmas present because I told her that I DO need to be tricked into excercising I will let you know how it goes. -
So I got my first fill!!!
mznita replied to soocalchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first fill today!! It wasn't as bad as I thought. But once he got there it took all of 5 minutes! He did my fill by flouroscopy so he knew exactly where my port was. I didn't have any numbing meds just alcohol, it tickled because everything was cold. It was cool watching the screen and the balium(sp?) float around in my body. I am ready to enjoy this my step in my journey. H/S/C/G 276/271/250/199 1st fill 12/29/09 3.3cc's -

Funny shaped tummy after banding?
mznita replied to OrderIsChaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have the lumps and bumps, and never had a flat tummy. It is still a little sore on the port side, don't know if it is because that is my side that I lay on or it is not completely healed yet. I go to the dr on Tues., I will ask him about it. -
Have not set a goal weight, what shoud it be
mznita replied to Buckcreek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lost weight before and made it to a size 16 and weighed 196. Since I am 5'3", I thought that I was still fat, but now I think that would be a good starting point. I will have to see if I am comfortable at that size again. -

mznita replied to Irishbookworm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted to wish you all luck on your big day tomorrow!:willy_nilly: You all will do great, the surgery isn't that long and before you leave the hospital make sure they give you some pain medicine, that will help on the ride home. I hope you all get some sleep, I was excitied on my surgery day too. Keep us posted! -
@antetz. Tell you dr. to refer you to a Bariatric Surgeon and once you talk to him, they will let you know about the other tests and procedures.

It depends on your insurance co. It took about 1 year from seminar to surgery. I have BCBS-IL PPO, so thay had me jumping through hoops. I had to do the following: 6 months with dietician, pysch., evaluation, ekg, upper gi, chest x-ray, blood work, and primary doc. approval. It is good to get referrals. My first one came from my primary care and the rest of the referrals came from my surgeons. I had my surgery on 11/13/09 and so far I have lost 21 lbs. yay me! It was a long time to get to this point but hang in there. The pain is not so bad, I am still a little sore at times. I do wish that I would have took more than 2 wks. time off work because I work a 12 hr rotating shift with a lot of lifting. My first fill is 12/29/09 so I am excited and scared about that. I am glad that I made this decision.

I had my surgery on 11/13/09 too. I found you on youtube and thanks for telling me about lapbandtalk.com. Before I never really found people that wanted to talk about it, it was like some ancient chinesse sercert. I am still learning how to work lapband.com. So thanks again.

Dr. Myers performed my banding on 11/13/09 at Rush. I do have BCBS-IL PPO. I had to do 6 months with the nutritionist, blood work, and some more test but I think that was for Dr. Myers. So far I have had to pay $10 here, $20 there, no huge amount as of yet. Start weight 276 Surgery 11/13/09 Current 252
