HI, I have my first fill in 2 day,s and that makes it 6 weeks. Is THAT ALL you have eaten, And no thats not a joke. This has been one of the hardest weeks i can ever remember. Mark :speechles :faint:

Hi there. For me, I had to be a private health fund member for over 12 months @ $240 per month ( familly cover ) Which i already had been in anyway. Then the process took about 3 months total from the first local doctor visit untill surgery day. And after claiming it all back , the costs all up ( local doctors, drugs ect )was @ $4000.00 Total out of pocket. My surgeon though you pay an up front fee is for everything. surgery, fills, later complications, ( if there is any ) everything.. Mark:)

Hi Amanda, I,m also in Cranbourne , I hope your feeling well. Atotal of 16 kg is fantastic. I was Banded on Oct 18 and my first fill is next Wed 29th. My eating is now out of control. I cant wait. Mark

Emergency food, 7/11 or similar, A can of baked Beans , simple ,healthy ,cheap and more than a big enough serve. I carry a cheap can opener and spoon in my car. Mark:)

Hi there guy,s, I hope you can help either way. I was banded 2 1/2 weeks ago and things are progressing well,Most of the pain and discomfort has subsided. Very Very late Last night i had a small piece of deep fried battered fish , which was the best. ( Yes i know im a dickhead cause im still on liquids )Coincidently today intermittently i have a discomfort in the middle of my chest / belly area and small pains in my shoulder blade area . Or if i take a deep breath i can also feel this. All else is well , im back on the liquids and drinking seems normal as such. DO I HAVE A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE or is this just another stage of the pain process. If it could be a partial blockage, what is a home made recipe which may help before i,m forced to front my surgeon. Yes ,to my diappointment, my $250 Merrel trainers. The type us men use to go to clubs (disco,s ) in are now loose. And i,ve only lost 22kg /46lbs. Mark.

Like Anna say,s Optifast is great, although like all diets / fasting it is hard work . Here in oz we use it to shrink the liver Pre-op. I was on it for four weeks pre-op (to loose more wieght, my choice ) and i lost 19 Kg / 38lbs . The first week you get some mild/ bad head aches and then its clear sailing. No im a lier , its still hard work. But it does strip off the wieght. Mark:)

Hi Guy,s I,m just enquiring can you ( not should you ) eat Duck, like roasted or in some type of Asian foods, its usually fatty and not as dry. Mark:)

Thanks Anna, Well im now DONE. And the after affects are worse than i thought, Although like all of you the pain and suffering is only temporary and ill soon forget about it. I cant believe how bloated i am and distorted .its pokes out to the left of my body. And like most of you its very bruised. Any way ill talk more later as i get more energy. Thanks Mark.:phanvan

Well ,lm already an ozzie so, now im banded. Wednesday in the morning at Knox i was banded. there was a little extra bleeding ang my blood pressure was very low. But not low enough for a transfusion thank god ( or somebody ). Because of this i stayed an extra day and im glad i did , i was very weak and still groggy. I came home yesterday and i have just veged on the couch and went to bed about 10ish with a sleeping tablet.And slept like a baby. My stomich now pokes out like a 10 month pregnant woman and it is also offset to my left. Quite ugly. I feel so shit, yes slight pain but just down , like if you have a virus ?? I always new that this would be the worst part.:tsk:

Motoring and motorcycling magazines. I CANT GET ENOUGH. Every day i cruise past the news stand. Can you imagine some USA magazines cost about A $18.00 here in Australia. Shhh , DONT tell my wife. Mark.

I have actually been on Optifast for about 4 weeks now as i wanted to lose lots for my friends wedding this weekend. I might see you at bandworks at mulgrave as im actually from Cranbourne so it will be close. Except whats Bandworks ?? Mark.

Hi guy,s I,m soon to be banded and a question i have is ,say 6 months down the track, after i " sort " out what i can and can,t eat, I will be able to go to a resteraunt and order BUT just eat a small portion of it.?? No one will be the wiser ??? eating should look thesame as now BUT smaller portions.?? Mark.:confused:

Hi i,m to be banded mid next week. my wife whislt supportive is very worried about the surgery and that i may get too thin and look much older. I,m not really huge my BMI is only 36. But like me she see,s the long term benefits of health .

I want to take my young son ( 17 months ) to the beach , something i would never do until i loose at least some of my excess.

Hi there people, The more i stay on this site the less positive i am about being banded. My banding date is October 18th but.. Im not sure if all the " adjusting " being banded will be worth it. You see i,m 6,1, tall ( 185 cm )and was about 260 lbs (120 kg).BMI 36 So i do look big though it,s more of a belly, BUT since seeing the surgeon i have been on Optifast VLCD and lost 22lbs (10kg) and by surgery time i will have lost another 22lbs (10 kg) and my goal wieght is about 200lbs (90kg). So i will almost be there any way. After banding i will have to change my eating habits , exercise ect so why cant i do that without being banded and avoid all the hassles.And possible complications and disapointments the some of you have. I have been overwieght for the past 25 years and have yo yoed up and down most years Am i making sense or just confused. HELP............ Mark

Hi there i,m being banded on the 18 th and have started the liquid phase today. Well not really ,i have a friends wedding on the weekend before so i have been on optifast already 2 weeks and lost 12 kg or 26 lbs. Mark.:grouphug:
