Hi Trin, Welcome, You are nearly over the hardest part of the Lap Band , OPTIFAST, The surgery is nothing, and the recovery may be uncomfortabe. But the best bit is to be able to drink something tastey . Ray is a good doctor although for me he is not too chatty. But Di more than makes up for him.

What finally got you off your bum to exercise?
oldspark replied to Poodles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there, For me the moment i started to exercise ( 5 km/ 3.5 mile fast walk every day ( most day,s ) ) and eat right was after initial consultations with the surgeon, the dietician , the physician and then after the second visit to the surgeon when he gave me the " Green light " for surgery. That was it , 5 weeks later i had lost about 25 Kg /55 lbs . All before the surgery, since then (10 weeks ) i have lost another 10 kg / 22lbs BUT i still have no change in my feeling full / Restriction. I have had 2 fills only 3ml in a 13 ml band I am still doing it very hard But yes it is all worth it. Mark:) -
Hi Guy,s It,s now summer over here in Austraaaaaaalia and i,m going swimming , Water skiing with friends soon. Friends that do not know ive been banded. What reason other than banding can i give for my still very obvious surgery scars. My wife suggested Labotomy ( ? ) Mark:omg:

For the last 10 years i have been having a " dig " at my wife just about every day, that her showers are far too long and she wastes Water. Well since surgery 2 months ago ,i am now also a dawdler in the shower. I now like it really hot and i just stand there. And stand there. On the ocassion that she is not home i even shower until the water starts to go cold. I feel so guilty , but it feels so good. Mark,

Hi friends, Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Well here i am nearly 2 weeks later and i can say i have no change in the way i feel full after eating ,i,m still the same old pigger me. Except now i really have to chew and be careful because anything bigger than a multi Vitamin will block my stomac, i know this because if i dont drink first and " lube up " the multi will become very uncomfortable and just sit there for ever. Mark:) Talk to you all in the New Year.

Well hello everybody , I trust you are all well and preparations are going good for the Christmas festivities. On Friday i went in for my second fill. Another 1 cc , with the previous 2 cc in my @ 10 cc band. All went well this time and i made sure i was comfortablly able to swallow this time before i left the clinic. Now i am begining to feel the benefit of the band, i actually feel full ,Well sort off .It,s not the old feeling full ,sick ,cant fit anything else in feeling in my stomach. This is a feeling of fullness in my throat type sensation. So i guess i just have to train that sensation to my brain to say that,s enough . Any way , Best Wishes to you all Mark.

I have a very cute 19 month old son ( a mini me ) I,m still alive ( i,m a very clumbsy electrician ) And best of all for the first time i can remember i am thin (ish ) for more than a month. Thank god or some body for the lap band. I know the band is new and hasn,t really done much yet BUT i,m still very motivated. I know this dosent make too much sense , But i am happy. Hi Anna , Any news on if you can get in pre Christmas for another fill.? I,m still eating more than ever, You??? Mark.
-
Well almost. I just had my first fill this afternoon. 4 ml in a large AP band. I sipped on the cup of Water and headed for home, although by the time i got there ( 20 minutes ) my mouth was full of saliva and i couldn,t swollow it. After a quick phone call i was back at the surgery and he kindly removed 2 ml. Ah much better. A very Drama filled evening for me. Mark:clap2:

Sazza. Stuffed up, how , didn,t you say you have lost 11 Kg, That,s great. You could have just as easily put on 11 kg You must get to a support group ,it wont be hard to make friends cause at these groups were all the same. Mark:clap2:
-
Hi susahnna, I too was like you and almost had second thoughts at the 11th hour. These forums should be taken with a grain of salt. You need to get along to a support group ( like bansters ) before surgery. I wish i did, at a meeting you can talk to people and see the real life pro,s and con,s . And these experiences are by local people 0not those of third world nations ( like the rest of the world.) It is a group of friendly people just like us (excactly the same ) Like i said i wish i had gone prior to surgery. See you there. Now i had surgery and lived happilly ever after..... well almost Mark :clap2:

What a crappy thread , Where,s the miracle i,m looking for. crappy thread. :help:

Well I,m now a week down the track after my first fill ( 2ml ) in a 12ml band and although i dont feel any restriction i have noticed ( several times ) that i need to chew my food much more or it,s PB city. Obviously the opening is much smaller. Anyway i,m back on the 14th Dec for my next fill. Mark.

Hi there Ed, Great to hear from you, i,m new as well. I was banded on October 18., so it,s all Exciting. Fantastic work ,your half way there. Only 18 kg to go.I,m in the same boat as you i only needed to lose about 35 total. Did your lead up, Surgery and Post Op go well.? Sorry to hear your in Hobart , better luck next time eh....... Mark.

So the down side is i look like a slob /sloth. I,m recently banded and have about 7 kg / 15lbs to reach my goal which should be just as Christmas arrives. The problem is i dont want to buy new clothes just yet because they wont fit " nice " after i reach my goal BUT , my current clothes just hang off me like a sack. Am i " cheap " or are we all in the same boat at one stage or another. Sad Sack.
