How much weight did you gain?

I just found out that we are welcoming our second baby in Feb 2011. I was banded on Dec 3, 2009. I have very mixed feelings. I have lost 60 pounds, met my first goal.. had set a second goal of 80 pounds by Sept. I am SO VERY fearful about gaining weight since I am still in my post op period. I don't want to gain much weight.. I am soo nervous. I am not sure what to expect.. weight loss, maintain, or gain. With my first baby I was not banded, and I gained 30 pounds.

Banded Yesterday; What is normal Pain?

also, you will want to use a heating pad on your shoulder. It helps with the shoulder pain and take ibprofin.. it also helps with the swelling. I don't have those health problems. However, if you had an IV drip, they are putting extra fluids in you which means you will have a weight gain. That is normal anytime you have IV fluids put into your body. Good luck with your band!!!

Banded Yesterday; What is normal Pain?

Pains that are normal: Not being able to burp or fart for a few days.. shoulder pains. These are caused from the gas that they put into your stomach at the time of surgery. The shoulder pain for me last about ten days. That was the worst part. The best I can tell you is, walk walk walk.. walking helps get the gas they put in you moving.. it helps being able to burp and fart. My doctor told me that for my first week post surgery, I could drink anything that would go through a straw and the Fluid did not have to be clear. There are some really good Soups you can buy without chunks in them that help with any hunger pains. Just remember, drink lots of water  Good luck and congrats on your new life!
  7. I was banded 12/3/09 and I LOVE my band. I have lost 30 pounds now. if your band is only 1.5CC's full, that is not nearly enough to give you the restriction that you are looking for. You should have them fill your band to at least 5.0 CC and see how that works for you. Many people I know who have the band are between 5.0 CC and 5.7 CC. I found that 5.0 CC works really well for me. You also have to make good food choices and be aware of your liquids you are drinking. You still have to do the work and use the band as a tool. I hope you are not giving up out of frustrations. The band really does work. I have seen it work numerous times. Good Luck!!
  8. Hi. I am looking for people in my general area to hook up with. I just got banded on 12/3/09. I was banded by Dr Michaelson. How have things been going for you so far? I was reading a post that you did in 2008 about not being able to eat pita breads.. Have you tried, and if so, how did that work for you?

Also, great job on your weight loss thus far!!!

Hi, I was banded on 12/03/09, and I am having some chest pains when I hicup. Does this go away? Thanks~
  10. the day after surgery, I was a little sore. I was moving a tad slow, but getting up and walking around. I took a shower this day. I also made sure I drank plenty of fluids and ate plenty of Jello and chicken broth. Periodlically, I would feel like someone was pinching the inside of me. This only last a few seconds. The day after surgery is when you will feel the most discomfort. Take your pain meds and walk. :0) The part that hurt the most, was the shoulder pain which is cause from the gas they fill you with in order to do the surgery. I was up cleaning the house by my third day of being banded. I did not do a lot of bending over though. By the fourth day, I was doing a little more bending over, and walking is much easier and I am faster. I am now on day 5, and I find that when I hicup, I get pains in my chest. I am sure those will go away as well.

St. Francis, Dr Oh and Dr. Hirai Group

I work for an insurance company, and I see A LOT of complications due to banding from the St Francis Surgery Center. A LOT of claims. They have a higher complication rate than say the Northwest Weight Loss Center does in Everett. I have never seen a complication due to the band from that center. I would do some more homework and perhaps make that drive to Everett. I had my banding done by Dr Michaelson on 12/3/09, and so far it has been wonderful. The staff has been more than willing to help and answer questions. The nice thing about NorthWest Weight Loss Center, is almost EVERYONE in their office has a band and give such great encouragement. Please RECONSIDER your location.

    Another xcited & scared newbie

I just got my band done on 12/3. I was really scared and nervous. We are all human and I think the older we get, the more knowledge we have of the medical field. If you were not scared, I would have to ask why. These feelings you are having are totally normal feelings. My surgery was about 45 minutes long. When I woke up in the recovery room, they asked me how I felt and if I could take a few sips of Water. I did not feel sick at all. I did however, feel a little pain where the port was placed. They gave me some medicine for that. I went home the same day. I did take a couple doses of pain releif. I was more sore the day after surgery. By the third day, I was up and cleaning my house (with limitations). If I could give any advise to someone who is going to be getting the surgery is, get up and walk around. Don't sit down all day long or lay in bed. Get up and pace around your house, walk to the mail box daily. It will help with any possible blood clotting and it also helps with the healing process. :sneaky: I am so excited for you! Congrats on taking the steps on living a healthy life!!

    Piercing pain on the left

I was also banded on 12/3, but my pain is in my left shoulder and it goes from my neck to my shoulder. It feels like a constant piercing, like a nerve is pinched ALL DAY LONG. How long does this last?
