What exactly are you doing pre-op? I have two shakes, a Breakfast of one egg and one piece of toast or some equivalents and a dinner of 6 oz. meat/fish/etc. and a cup of green vegetables. I tend to get dizzy during the day. Drinking a shake does help. I tend to drink a little at a time to keep from getting dizzy - not sure if that is ok. -

I do hope I have the same experience of not being hungry after the surgery. -

We are scheduled for the same day. I am having trouble with the pre-op diet. Have stuck with it, though. I have read that many people aren't hungry right after. -
Hi all. My surgery date is December 21. Are yu still meeting?

My surgery date is December 21. I am doing the pre-op diet. My start before the pre-op diet was 245. Thanks for the hi.

I need to get out my calendars to be sure about the timeline. I think I have been working on it almost 2 years. I was really disappointed last spring when I thought I had done all my documentation. I went to Weight Watchers for 7 months thinking it would help me document and learn stuff too but it didn't help. What really helped was going through AIGB for weight checks. They did the application for me this time. Also, they called me when they heard the documentation of monthly weight checks needed to be 6 months instead of a year. It helped having them on my side. Now it is up to me. The hard part. Doing without my favorite drug - food.

Thank you to everyone for the wonderful posts back. I had a great deal of trouble getting approved. It has taken a long time. I worked through the AIBG at Surgery Center of Richardson which seems to be a good group. Insurance will not let me have the surgery there - I will have it at Presbyterian. I have heard of Dr. Benavides but have not met him. I originally went to a surgeon whom my primary care doctor recommended - Dr. Hagood. He had done her (primary doc) mom's surgery. I hear Dr. Provost is phenominal but has a long waiting time to get in. Good luck. This is the fourth day of the pre-op diet. I tend to get the shakes around 10:30-11. I get up really early and am at work by 7 or so. My lunch time is 1. So.... I have started doing part of the Protein shake at 11 and then part at the regular lunch time. I guess I need to figure out how to do the stretch thing to show my progress. I have already lost 9 lbs in 4 days of pre-op. I know that is all Water weight probably. Somebody better notice my first 30-40 lbs. If they don't I certainly will call it to their attention! -
I was turned down twice by Blue Cross and have finally been approved. It has taken some time. I worked through the AIGB in Dallas to get it approved. My surgery date is December 21.

Thank you all for the good wishes. I am going to remember that saying, Carol. LOL. I am having trouble with the pre-surgery diet but today was a little better - my 3rd day. Losingjusme? Where in Dallas? -
I am in Dallas waiting on approval. I have been turned down before but the AIGB thinkgs the rules have changed and is applying for me again. Has anyone else had success with BCBS of Texas?

I have a t-shirt from the Kinky campaign committee that says "No Teacher Left Behind". I taught 28 years. this is my second year as a high school guidance counselor but am thinking of retiring. Thank heavens I am grandfathered and not having to work the extra years that Mr. Perry decided teachers should do.

:paranoid It looks like I may finally be approved by my insurance. I am very grateful for this place. I have been reading here for some time. I will have my surgery at the Surgery Center of Richardson. Yes, I am nervous. I was reading about anti-gas meds. Are these over the counter or must I ask my doctor for them? My worst fear is nausea after surgery. Elaine
