My story begins as a chubby 4th grader who disliked being called a Campbells soup kid. That was the first time I remember being teased about my weight. I began my lifelong journey of yo-yo dieting at the age of 10. I remember crying to my mom and telling her that I didn't want to be fat anymore. She made an appointment with my doctor and he put on a typical low calorie diet. It was impossible and I did lose the baby fat that I was carrying. I was normal to overweight throughout my highschool years and then came college. The dreaded freshman 15 and then some came with a vengence. For the next 20 years I would try pills, shakes, soups and gym memberships all to no avail. I almost had convienced myself that this was how it was going to be and I should just embrace my plus girl status. Things happen and life rolls along and I discovered that my insurance would cover the lap band procedure. I had thought about it in the past but it was out of my financial reach. Now with insurance it was something that I could honestly consider. So I begin my journey towards a new way of living. I have to complete some insurance requirements but hopefully by June 2010 I will have my band. And it is now that I believe the dieting will stop and the living will begin. UPDATE: I received my band on Friday, July 2, 2010!
