    Chicken

What do you mean by sauces? Gravy, bar-b-q??! I've heard others say the same thing....I keep meaning to ask, but then get side tracked!
  2. Jay Robb egg white protein is not bad at all. I too am experimenting before surgery. You can mix the chocolate with 6 oz of water and add a little choc or vanilla extract. I haven't tried the vanilla egg white protein, but I'm sure it's good too. The Jay Robb vanilla whey protein powder mixed with 6 oz of water and add coconut extract to taste. I would recommend trying either of these. You can get 'sample' size packets at GNC and also at Whole Foods. Good luck!!!

Everybody talks about the things they like NOW that they did NOT care for before surgery and the things that don't appeal to them that did previously....I think that will be interesting. I'll be so sad if my love of Mexican food goes away, although it might be a good thing. I've already figured out what will be easy when we go out, fajita meat, beef, chicken or shrimp...and refried beans! Simple!

    New revelation today.

I love this post. I can't wait to see what is new for me. I love seafood, I hope that doesn't change, I can get Protein in with steamed shrimp, grilled fish etc. You mentioned gumbo....knowing what you know since you're on 'the other side' - is it or should it be off limits? We love Galveston and come to the Houston/Galveston area a couple of times a year. We have our favorite places for gumbo, Pappa's seafood is the one we like in Houston, oh, and Pappadeaux's!! I know I couldn't possibly eat a bowl, maybe not even a cup, but with the roux that is the base, will it be ok to have some? What's your opinion??!!!

When you say you are hungry all the time, that concerns me!! How do you keep from eating and do you fill up quickly? What about the hormone that is suppose to go away with the surgery? Some, actually many say that they have no hunger for quite a while....which is what I'm hoping for! Do you find it easy to not give in or do you think it is what everyone refers to as head hunger and something you'll work through??? Good luck and it is sooooo exciting to see all the results of everyone's hard work after surgery....what success!!!
  8. Thanks for the invitation Tiffany!! Y'all have a great time....hopefully you'll do this again some time, I'd love to meet you and some of the other girls! My daughter and I will be in town for my seminar ON SUNDAY, and I plan on a little shopping and maybe lunch at North Park Monday! We'll have just missed you! Take care and thanks again! Stacy

Where are you having surgery done? Who are you using? I'm headed to Dallas in April for the seminar...surgery is scheduled June 11th. Good luck!!! I know you're as excited as I am!

    My Username says it all!

Kara, Hi, I'm in Wisconsin too, and am traveling to Dallas for sleeve surgery. I talked to doctor's offices in Milwaukee, Marshfield and Wausau, but the self pay cost is so much more here than it is in the south for some reason. The lady I spoke to in Milwaukee said she knew health care here was more and couldn't explain it. Anyway, I am going to Dr. James Davidson, he is at a Center of Excellence and the cash price is $12,510. I'm headed there next month for the seminar and the following day they are allowing me to do what is usually the two week pre-op appointment, then I'll be traveling back in June for surgery on June 11th. Another doctor that is highly recommended in the Dallas area is Dr. Nick Nicholson, his price is about $200 less than Dr. Davidson's cost. The benefit of going to Dr. Nick is you would only need to be in town for a one week follow up appointment I believe, and with Dr. Davidson, he wants to see you at one week and then again at two weeks. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!!!

    Diet Soda

Hi there WendyLou! It is all carbonated drinks, they can damage our tummies after surgery, so they're off limits...also, we can eat so little, and soft drinks are empty calories, we have to make what we take in COUNT...protein etc. Make sense?

    Diet Soda

I have never been one that likes sodas, we never have had them in our house unless one of the kids had company or we were having people over....I'll have a fountain coke occasionally and I like one at the theatre with popcorn. I have weined myself off caff. coffee!! Hopefully I can go back to regular coffee at some point, does anybody know? Right now I am taking myself off fat free half and half. Boy....black with stivia!! I have tried something that I like, SoBe drinks that are sweetened with stivia, I like water with lemon or lime, but thought I'd try something different just in case I want a change after surgery! So far I like the blackberry the best, it's not to sweet. At Wal Mart they are just over a dollar, 1.09 I think.
  13. I thought adding Protein Powder to water sounded disgusting too, but the guy at GNC said that is what HE does, so I thought I'd try it. I got a Jay Robb vanilla whey protein packet (i'm trying out different ones before surgery). Added it to six oz of cold water and a few ice cubes...it was 'ok' - so I added about a cap full and a half of cocoanut extract, that perked it right up! It seriously made a difference. It needs to be cold and it needs the extract to be good. I think the chocolate would be better, but they did not have it in the packets.
  14. I wish we had a Trader Joe's around here.....I hate having to order it and paying shipping it. One of these days maybe we'll move back to a 'real' city and have something available! LOL
  15. You're the first person I've seen that has mentioned buffalo. My husband and I have left red meat almost totally behind and switched to bison a year ago. He had a blockage and after that scare and his stent was in place....we really changed a lot. We both read labels!! His nutritionist said that bison was so low in fat and especially sat. fat that it was like eating skinless chicken breast or fish...it is also very high in protein....perfect for me!!! The trick is I learned after much research, the buffalo must be nothing but grass fed, no grains at all. I order ours from a ranch in Texas and one in Wisconsin. Both ship the meat to our home on dry ice! It's soooo good!
  16. Y'all have answered a lot of questions for me. About the Carnation instant breakfast....you add the protein powder to it? Is it made with milk or water? We cannot have milk in the beginning, correct? The first week is what I have heard.
  17. I have been trying out protein packets to find one that I like....The Jay Robb protein (Whey and egg white) are both available in single serving and both good. I prefer the egg while, but the whey is the best one I've tried so far. I mixed it with 6 oz of Water and it is NOT bad. I added a cap full of vanilla extract and it really made a difference. I haven't tried the choc. only because they were out....I expect it to be even better than the vanilla. The choc. egg white was good....no funky taste at all. I found them at Whole food and at GNC. Good luck Anna!!!!
  18. I can't wait...I just looked at when you were sleeved. You've done amazing! Congrats!
  19. thanks for the web site...everyone says that our tastes change post op....i wonder why!! how interesting!
  20. I tried the Jay Robb Egg White sample size from whole food. I don't see anyone talking about those, but they're great. They do not taste bad at all. Have you tried them and are they ok with the doctors? That's the big question. I haven't had surgery yet, I'm schedule for the seminar next month. I guess I'll find out then! I hope it will be fine because if so, I'll be fine!
  21. I'm trying to find stuff I like before surgery and had found a great smoothie using the vanilla Greek yogurt, some fruit, unflavored Protein powder, cocoanut flavoring and pineapple.....someone here asked about the carbs in the yogurt and suggested the plain, so I've tried it and added a Truvia and some vanilla....it's worked just fine. I think I'll be able to use it different ways by itself as well with flavorings and fruit....and now some other suggestions here I'll jot down too! Good luck!! I'm learning a lot about carbs. I had no idea. I go to my seminar next month; surgery in June. So much to take in and retain!!
  22. Shonda, You look great, what an inspiration. You had surgery on my birthday!! I'm scheduled for surgery on June 11th - I cannot wait!! I'll attend the seminar on April 6th!! I'm ready to get this show on the road. Watching all y'all keep me so "up" and so motivated!!! Keep up the good work, and your fiancee is a cutie!!

I can't even imagine it in my WILDEST dreams! LOL

I want to stop loosing now

I'm scheduled for June surgery too! I don't think there is a huge problem with not being able to stop losing though. They just add higher calorie foods from what I've been reading. I've been following the faithful here since around Thanksgiving. Nothing has sent up red flags to me! Have you talked to your surgeon about your concerns? I'm going to the seminar next month, hopefully all my questions will be answered. I'll be sure and ask about this now!
  25. Hi Lynda - Who's going to do your surgery? I'm scheduled for June 11th with Dr. Davidson in Dallas! I can't wait. Good luck....
