  1. Would be great if you DID end up in Texas....I was born @ Lackland AFB, my dad retired at Sheppard in Wichita Falls when I was in seventh grade, I was lucky, we moved there when I was in first grade, so that is where I grew up. When I got married, the first place we lived was Weatherford, then we moved to Mineral Wells for a little while before heading east to Henderson...a little town near Tyler. We were there for twenty years before leaving Texas. We've been gone for ten years now. It's time to go home! I'll keep you posted, would love to go some time when you arrange one of the get togethers, if we are living there! You are a real inspiration to me....and you always answer my questions...OH, I've started the vitimins already, as recommended by my doctor. I am sure they said to take the two multi vit. separately, is that correct? Thanks...and have a great day! Stacy
  2. Hi Tiff - hate that I missed the DFW meeting, but I was there right behind y'all. I met with Dr. Davidson, attended the seminar, I know all the staff, have all the pre-op instructions etc. I cannot wait. The countdown begins. Surgery is June 11th. The great news is my husband works for a company that has an office in Irving, we've been wanting to get back 'home' for a while now. He talked to his boss while I was in Dallas and has gotten the 'OK' to move to the Dallas office and work from there!!! Yippee! We are soooo excited....it will probably be 8 - 12 months for him to 'transition' everything and for us to sell the house, but we are headed south!! Did I understand that YOU are moving to the area as well? Are you originally from Texas too? Anyway, I'll be glad to be there where my doctor is.....will love going to the meetings etc. Hope y'all had fun at the get together!! Details!!! Stacy

    Protein

Jay Robb is my favorite too....egg white is better than the whey, but i can do either. I haven't tried his unflavored because i can't find it in the 'sample' sized packet. I've used them in Water and also used the vanilla in unflavored Greek yogurt with fruit and extract and made a great smoothie. I highly recommend Jay Robb. If you try the unflavored, let me know how it is, please!!
  4. I read somewhere that somebody strained egg drop soup from their local Chinese restaurant. I am scheduled for June, so I've kept that in the back of my mind. :001_smile:
  5. Thanks - I'm headed to Dallas today....seminar and first doctor's appointment is Tuesday! I WILL ASK!!!! I have a notebook I am taking....with questions, questions and for NOTE taking!! Have a nice Easter!
  6. I was wondering this same thing. I am not leaving the country, but I am self pay. Our insurance does cover WLS, but I don't qualify due to lower BMI and not health issues...but I have wondered, if there were to be commplications afterward, would my insurace cover the cost?? What if there were complications during??!! Is that included in the cash price, does anybody know?

    Favorite protein?

I will keep the sugar free peach preserves in mind. I also have tried the vanilla whey Jay Robb, and variety is good, right?? =) I'm glad you tried it, glad it comes in sample size....sorry you didn't like it. Have a great day!!! Leaving tomorrow, headed to Dallas for my seminar next week!!! Yippee!

    All Protein Meatloaf

Whole Foods, at least the ones I've been to (there is not one near me now) DO have grassfed bison. Be sure and ask if it is grassfed, I did and they assured me it was, some of their meat is and some is not. They told me how to tell the difference there at the meat counter, something about the 'tag' there by the meat!

    All Protein Meatloaf

We've ordered from both of these places, both are good. It does cost more than beef from Wal Mart, but when you are ordering it, and then eating chicken and fish from Wal Mart or another store in town, it lasts us for about three weeks. I order approx. fifteen lbs. at a time. Steaks, and usually a roast or brisket and then I like to get quarter lb hamburger patties. I don't get bulk ground bison because with the patties, I can CHOOSE how much I put in casseroles or spaghetti. I've cut down and use a half lb of meat now with spaghetti and casseroles. Use to I'd use a full lb of beef or 3/4 of a lb. It is just as good and nobody knows the difference!! Anyway, here are the links! The second link, if you call and order on the phone, there is a discount, I am not sure why! =) Grass-Fed Bison/Buffalo Grassfed Meat, Bison, Elk, Lamb, Chicken, Steaks, Rice Lake, WI, Buffalo

    All Protein Meatloaf

Using bison will bring the Fat and Sat. Fat down, way down. My husband had a stent put in his heart a year ago this month and we switched to ordering, GRASSFED, bison. I order it on line, and it's delivered to our house. His nutritionist said the fat and sat. fat content are like that of boneless, skinless chicken breast or fish...NOT RED MEAT!! Yay!! I've bought 'red meat' (beef) maybe five times in the past year. MY cholesterol dropped from 168 to 145 and the biggest change is cutting out red meat. I don't use real butter except at a restaurant now, but I didn't use a lot before....red meat was the biggie. I am not on meds, I have naturally low cholesterol.....grassfed bison is a big deal, and we love it!!! I use it and find myself using less when making spaghetti and other things like that, a half lb instead of a full lb. Anyway, that's my two cent worth!! :confused1:
  11. OMG - If I can lose 84 lbs in the length of time you have, I'll be estatic!! You have done marvelous!!! How much do you need to lose to be at goal? You are being hard on yourself, without a doubt!!!

    Quick i need info

I would tell him that you've made your decision, this isn't a 'fix' - it's a tool to help you lose and keep the weight off. Does he have a computer? If so, tell HIM to google 'sleeve' weight loss surgery, and read until his heart is content. If he doesn't have one, he can visit the local library, they have computers. It is not your place to convince him of anything. I called my father and told him I was going to do something, he might not approve, but I was going to do it anyway. I am 50, I do not "NEED" anyone's approval. Support is 'grand' but approval, no. Amazingly enough, he IS supportive. Good luck to you, and be strong. I mean seriously, you are not asking him to pay for it, so he needs to mind his own business.
  13. Not at all, no eggie taste. Go to GNC or Whole food and get a sample sized packet to try one or two. I had it in Water and even added some coconut extract to the vanilla one, along with some ice to give it a pina coloda taste. The egg white - unlike the whey ones, have no flavor.
  14. My appointment for the seminar is April 6th - I'd love to know what to expect as well. I hope someone answers you!! Good luck!
  15. I mixed the sample packet (trying it out), vanilla, with Water, added a little vanilla extract, some coconut extract....was really good, kind of like a pina coloda and 4 carbs I think! I've also done it in the blender similarly, with a banana, some pineapple and coconut extract, but I know that ups the carbs a little....a few ice cubes to thicken it up! Yum!
  16. I'm giggling. I'm from Texas, where beef is consumed almost nightly, which I'm sure contributed to my being scheduled for the sleeve....and fried cow testicles are a delicacy, so boiled horse and cow hide isn't gagging me, and I'm sipping it now! :thumbup1: Thanks for clearing this up, I wasn't sure....the whey Protein Powder is hard to get down pre-op, I'll have to see how it goes afterward!! The Jay Robb egg white protein is my favorite so far!!
  17. What about Jay Robb's egg white protein, is that ok, or does anybody know? Why is the 'whey' preferable, or IS it? Also, I am trying out a 'bullet' right now, I have a fruit punch flavored mixed with grape Kool-Aid and a Stivia it's not bad, but I think I read something about (I'm pre-op and trying different protein) the collagen being a problem post op....does anyone know why?

    I'm sleeved!

that is where I'll be having surgery in June - who is your doctor?? I hope your feeling great!! We're you there one night or two?

    Clear Liquids Only Stage?

Great idea, thanks. I'm trying different things now, before sugery!! I have one of those bullets in my frig right now!!! I'll get some kool aid this afternoon and try it. How much do you mix one of the bullets with, 24 oz is what I have in mind, then sip, sip, sip. Thank you again!
  20. Thank you so much for the response! I feel good about the hair issue...(I have thick hair) and I have high hopes with the excess skin issue. My BMI isn't real high, not like it could be. It is a little less than 36 and I want to lose about what you have...I read yesterday that most people that lose OVER 100 lbs normally will end up having surgery to have skin removed, so between that and what you've said, I'm optimistic. You really made my day! Thanks again....it's such an inspiration to see people close to my age that are so successful. Kudos to you! Have a great week!

    Did everyone get a card?

You're in Madison??!!! What is your favorite Mexican food restaurant? We make the drive to Madison, about once a month, to eat at Abuelo's. We love it, it's not quite two hours, and we make a day of it over there, but it's worth it!! I cannot believe how little it will take to fill me up after surgery. Wow, and I'm so glad that I'll still be able to eat Mexican food....I love it, and fajitas are so good! Thanks for sharing!

The double chin has been banished!!!

You look great! I cannot wait to get sleeved...scheduled with Dr. Davidson there in Dallas June 11th!! I'm a year older than you and want to lose about what you have or what your goal is. (75 lbs is what I am hoping for) A couple of questions, do you have any 'excess skin' problems, it does NOT look like it? I was thrilled to see your chin!!!! Also, your hair looks great, did you ever have any hair issues??!! I started taking Biotin this past week. Again...congrats!!!

    My first "bad" experience

Hi KK - For what it's worth, my regular doctor 'up here' in Wisconsin told me, when I went to see her and tell her what I was planning...just to make sure she was informed and that she might be contacted....I am from Texas, I am self pay and traveling back 'home' because it is MUCH less expensive in the south. I'm paying $12,500 in Dallas. Anyway, to the point...my doctor told me to just make sure I was having it done at a 'center of excellence'. (and I took her advice) I wasn't sure what it meant at the time, but I have since read up on it and to get that 'stamp of approval' they have to really be good and it's no easy task. So that is just something for you to keep in mind!! Good luck!!!!
