Please HELP ME!!! Post op help

Hi there DaniGirl Here goes from my perspective: In one week I have lost 10 lbs. Is that average? This is normal for the first week or two then it will slow down and be more consistent. About a kilogram a week. Which are the best Vitamins to take and what dosage? I take Supradin soluable vitamins. Not sure if you have these where you are? I take it once a day. What are the best supplements (calcium citrate or the other, etc) I didn't have any other supplements. Best chocolate Protein drinks or powder without chalky taste? The only one I could stomach is the Optifast Ceffee shake. It is really nice and tastes just like a coffee milkshake. Best tasting clear liquids protein drinks? Didn't have these either. Any lotions or tricks to prevent saggy skin? Bio-Oil is a good one to help saggy skin and strechmarks. Drink lots of Water and exercise tightens up saggy skin. When will I feel normal again? I had my surgery on the 17th December and by the 26th I was starting to feel a little more normal. I was very sick and weak for a week after my surgery to the point of not being able to walk around. This was partly my fault as after the operation I didn't drink my shakes because I just wasn't hungry. This lead to muscle loss, feeling unwell and weakness. Once I started to force myself to drink the shakes 3 times a day (took me 2 hours to drink each one) I started to feel better and get more energy. Hopefully within a week you will start to feel normal again.. It does take time though. Some people bounce back straight away others take longer. Remember you have just had major surgery, so be kind to yourself. Any good blogs or website that could be helpful now that I have the band? From Fatness To Fitness Any other good tip you think I should know? Take Benifibre or a fibre suppliment to stop constipation. Make sure you don't buy one that turns to gel in your stomach or you will stretch your new pouch. Not that I can think of right at this moment... If you have any questions feel free to drop me an email. Take care and I hope you feel better soon Nicole xx
  3. Hi all, I have been banded two and a half weeks now and just have a few question. 1. is it normal to still have some mild discomfort after two weeks? 2. Had restriction straight after the operation but am feeling hungry now and not much restriction (still sticking to exactly the amounts to eat as specified by my specialist though) Is this normal (no fill in band yet) The restriction doesn't worry me as much as the discomfort. Did anyone else still have discomfort after the two week mark? Any advice would be great Thanks

    scared/embarrassed/unsure

Hi there, I just had my lapband done 2 weeks ago... I was embarrassed as well at first. I went to the seminar with my specialist and cried for an hour in the car before it started. I also cried at my initial appointment. The important thing is that you do it because it is what you want. It is a lifestyle change and a good tool to help in weight loss but you do have to work with it. As for recovery, you will need help with your kids for the first week or two as you will be a bit tender. Also you won't be able to lift them up for the first month otherwise your band may slip from its position so you will need help with stuff like that and also carrying washing baskets etc. am two weeks past my surgery now and I'm fine to play with and look after my 4 year old son, but just can't pick him up incase my band slips. It will be fully healed in place in another two weeks and I will be fine to pick him up then. I hope that helps a bit.
