1200 Calorie Diet- OMG! TORTURE!
Billy363627 replied to Candace2314's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yall will do fine.. If it was soo easy to do what everyone here has done than everyone would be lining up for a part of it.. It is extremely hard and takes a lot of self control. You just have to want it more than you are suffering right now.. Once you get past the carb withdrawls you will be at a better place to help you get through it the rest of the way..good luck ladies and keep you heads up... -
PROTEIN SHAKE QUESTIONS
Billy363627 replied to dcoates's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems that the taste of a lot of things change after surgery. I don't know if it when they put you to sleep or what . I loved yogurt to death. After surgery I can hardly stand any milk products they just taste different to me.. Have you ever tried the wheybolic ampflified extreme 60 from gnc?? It is the best protein that I have ever drinked. I use the choclate and I have never had any issues before or after surgery. Also there are soy proteins and a couple others that arent milk based. good luck and hopefully you will find a protein you can drink.. -
keep your head up girl..The carb thing is one of the hardest things to break!! I do feel soo bad for you though.. to be that close and yet soo far away...it really sucks . You can do it thought!!! You will get a new date and stay focused on the goal you will make it I promise you..:welldoneclap:

I know there is a lot of differnt opinions. What my dietician tells me is that when you are on the liquid phase all your liquids count as water.. soup broth, sugarfree popsicles, water, vitaminwater,,etc... But be aware if you drink gatorade and like certain vitamen water and sobe life water they do contain carbs. I know there is propel zero, some gatorade type drinks are zero carb.. You just have to look but be really careful with the carbs and the sodium. I was counting protein drinks that I used water in as water intake.. they all count.. Also,,if you drink things with caffene in them they do not count..tea,coffee,etc..

Daily Carb Intake for Sleevers
Billy363627 replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told 60-80 grams of proteins and under 50 grams of carbs..They didn't give me a specific caloric intake. My dietician told me that if you get 60 to 80 grams of protein your calories should fall right in line to what you need. -
Things people say...
Billy363627 replied to BlueOctoberGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have told her I was eating better and watching my caloric intake... NOt a total lie..but I do understand old folks are very opinionated as well as stubburn..I don't think at all not for a minute you took the easy way out. I think having the sleeve is not that easy. Yes it controls your hunger and the amount you eat, but their are days when I want bad foods. -
How can any stand the taste of greek yogurt?
Billy363627 replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was all hyped up for the greek yogurt with all the proteins. Not!!!! This stuff is horrible..lol I took one bite and I was spitting it back out.. I even got the strawberry flavored one..Geez couldn't they have made it taste a little better.. I guess since surgery my taste buds aren't quite there yet. I think I will just stick with plain yogurt for now.. -
I agree with oregon daisy. Try to reduce your carb intake and increase your water. You will get the scales moving again. I average around 30 to 35 carbs and eat mostly proteins..You will break the plateau .

I just cant get use to eating new food. Any advice
Billy363627 replied to Tammy K's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you are having problems with foods coming back up your may not be ready for solids. Go back to things that go down easy. Then a couple of days go back to foods that your having problems with. You doctor can prescribe you Hyoscyamine for he stomach spasms. Your stomach is going to take some time with gettting back to real foods. Listen to your body. I had sugery on Feb 1st and I Just now getting to solid food that I was having a hard time with.. -
Did anybody actually sleep the night before surgery/
Billy363627 replied to sychadelic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think anyone sleep very well before sugery. You will sleep very well afterwards..lol.. anyway all of you will do good in surgery and be positive for the outcome.. -
Slightly nervous about surgery in the morning
Billy363627 replied to Sara Ann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just what ever you do get up and walk asap.. sip and walk.. the more you walk to the less pain you will be in and just think tomarrow you will be a loser like me.. -
The story sounds so familiar to all of us. I think you are making the right choice..I believe that without the sleeve I would be yo yoing all the time..The sleeve is actually a very good tool for making the right choices.. Will you be able to eat wrong? It is not going to change that. It will make you choose the right foods based on eating to live and not living to eat. It is awesome and I didn't know why it took me so long to make the decesion to have the surgery. If you are dedicated to your weight loss you can acheive anything. You should be really glad that your husband is going to be a good support system. There are a lot of folks on here that their spouses don't support them too much.. As far as the surgery I would do it again 100 times over tomarrow. I only wish I could have had it 10 years ago.

That probably would be a good question for your baratric doctor. Since you are already sleeved you should contact your doctor and ask would a wls be reccommended for someone who has a lots of protein in their kidneys. I do know that the recommended daily allowance of protein is 60 to 80 grams of protein so I really don't know if that would effect her situation right now. I know my wife is pretty much in the same boat and she has talked about getting the sleeve. But again I am not a doctor and I would hate to steer you wrong . I would get a professonal opinion if I were you.

Well I am sorry you had such a bad surgery experience, but you are better now and that is all that matters.. YOu will love your sleeve when you heal. It is such a blessing to me since I don't really think I could have lost very much on my own.. It always came back...I love my sleeve so much...

Your tired because you are not getting any calories or carbs. It will get better a couple of weeks after surgery and when your able to start eating solids foods again.

4 Days Post-op...Feeling Fabulous
Billy363627 replied to My Big Day 3/15/2011's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Awesome story. I had my sugery and was much like yours. That really large incesion gave me fits too. I really do wish you all the luck in the world..Just remember don't push yourself and if you get tired listen to your body.. The Anesthesia will last for a couple of weeks, so if you feel beat down and tired all the time it will get better before you know it.. -
I take Celebrate multiviatmins and my doctor said that I wouldn't have to take a b-12 sublingual. I had my blood work done last week and I will update to see if I have a any Vitamin issues. I do take calicum citrate it is the most absorbable type. Carbonate will not absorb in sleeve patients..the calicum you are using is cabonate. I know it really suck because there is items containing carbonate every where and it is really cheap. If you feel like you need a b-12 sublingual you can get it at GNC really cheap..

Milk is a thick liquid, small curd cottage cheese is a mushy,sf pudding is a thick liquid, I would consider egg drop soup as a mushy because of the egg content.. and lastly sf cool whip I was using it on the thick liquids..I would use lite cool whip in moderation because the values are really not that much more than sugarfree..But be aware what ever you do keep a look at the carbs..they will sneak up on ya.

I'm new here...any suggestions!
Billy363627 replied to MollyMc's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Molly everyone on this forum is or once had problems with their carbs. You need to try to stick with the liquids. Not only does it srink the liver it also reduces your caloric intake so it will not be hard after surgery.. You have to get the carb thing under control. You have to be honest to yourself as well as be commited to your pre op diet. The level of commitment during your liquid diet will show how committed you are going to be with the sleeve. -
yep you need to get that protein in. How is your water going??
