Optifast pre-op diet
Billy363627 replied to Chinasl45's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel for you I had a 14 day liquids only and 4 weeks liquid only postop.. wow this would even be hard for the veterns. Do you have an excessive about of weight to lose or is your doctor that much of a butt.. There are not too many times I have heard of this..Wow I guess the only thing I can say is good luck... -
Rollercoaster you really need to make sure you are ready for the sleeve. I know everyone here has said that they have no regrets. Make sure with all your heart that you will not have any regrets and you are ready. There are so many new sleevers that wasn't ready. It sounds nice to have doctors say you will lose all of this weight . I know that this is going to be a life change and you can't go back after its over..I chose the sleeve because I couldn't control my weight and for health reason's. Friend I do wish you all the luck in the world. But I guess to answer the question I would do it a million times over. I started my pre op diet weighing 385 and today the 9th I weigh 354..

Yep you just got to hang a couple of days you will start feeling better about things as ansthesia wears off..You have to drink and walk for the gas. I promise that when you start getting fluids in and getting on your feet even getting a shower will make you feel like 100 bucks. It will get better every day that passes I promise..

It is really amazing the day I got out of surgery the last thing I wanted to do was eat. I know that you would never think this but it is true for the first 6 days you will not want food period..just walk and sip walk and sip. The most important thing after surgery is to keep hydrated and walk to keep the gas moving.. I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted..
-
I really don't think you will have very much trouble..Granted I am not on my own . I have used my wife very little since surgery.. A good recliner a must for a couple of days. a tv tray and someone who could check on ya once in a while should be sufficent..Stairs only going to affect you if you have to have an open procedure. You wont be able to drive to you are off your pain meds soo stock up on the stufff you will need while your out(crystallight, powerade zero, protein powder,bottlewater..etc. I think you will do fine. Maybe you can have someone stay with you a night or two so you will be sure that you are comfortable alone without anyone.. I really think you will do fine

Sip walk and repeat...It will be getting better in a day or two just walk as much as you can..

I need to find a replacement for Premier Protien Shakes
Billy363627 replied to myrori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use gnc amplified wheybolic protein. 3 scoops are 60 grams of protein. I divde them in three shakes. They are one of the best proteins that I have found so far..Hopefully that helps ya.. -
You will do fine ..Try to get some Powerade zero.. It will help with electrolytes that your not getting. I know right now you just want to eat as much as possible but remember after your surgery you will not be hungery at all and it will be well worth it..Also get up out of that hospital bed as soon as you can and get to walking the gas will move better and it will not cause you as much pain..if you lay there you will be in pain..Just remeber sip, walk sip, walk, sip and walk. When they start letting you have fluids I could only get in around 30 ounces. Just try to increase it by 5 to 10 ounces per day and you will meet your goal of 60 in a little over a week..Good luck and remember to walk as much as you can..Congradulations..you will be on your feet in no time.
-
Well you should be walking day one after surgery. Everyday a little further. But as for hard core running or walking I'm have my two week follow up the 14th and I will discuss when I should start working up to 1 miles a day. As far as sex you should do it when you are comfortable. I wanted to do it since day3 or 4 but I guess that does not cordinate with my wife and her once every 3 month schedule we seem to be on...

Sleep apnea: officially cured
Billy363627 replied to ouroborous's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is soo awesome..I can't way for that day I have had sleep apnea for about 15 years now.. Good luck and keep us posted -
Just keep on sipping and walking and resting..Best way I got to goal on drinking and protein is that I started at 30 ounces and every day I made a really hard effort to add 10 more ounces per day.its hard but I went from 30ounces to 60 in about 3 days..when you meet your water goal then start on your protein. I counted the water in the protein to make my final total on the water intake that I got. I am 7 days out and getting 50+ounces of water and 60 grams of protein. I wish you soo much luck.

TRIPLE YUK!! PROTIEN DRINKS
Billy363627 replied to Dee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use wheybolic amplified isolate by gnc I truly think it is the best one out there. I know that people sweary by unjury. Try using fruit with your protein and blending them with ice and skin or ice. Unjury also has a chicken soup flavored protein as well as unflavored. A lot of people that I have talked with add unflavored to pudding and they say that you can hardly taste it.. -
I have been on protonics since February 1st surgery date and I have had no acid or heartburn. I am not chanceing it thought I will be a dedicated follower of the ppi at least one year..good luck cause I don't know if protonics is time released but my doc I guess likes protonics for some reason..Any way good luck

Diet Post op questions
Billy363627 replied to sarahh1828's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would get a clarity on all of that because it kinda seems harsh.. He may be trying to see if you are really commited with going through this..Some docs are just not friendly. My post op is 2 weeks clear,2 weeks thick liquid(yogurt, pudding,) 2 weeks soft foods, then the rest being starting to introduce foods back in my diet slowly.. That Is a really harsh I think myself and I would be questioning it my self..Just my opinion. -

10 days post op - dull taster and sensitive sniffer
Billy363627 replied to Newme52's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doc told me that the food would change in taste and your sense of smell would change also. I have been told that anstheisia(Ihope I spelled that right..) would change the taste of things for 6 to 8 weeks out. I really don't know but guess what if it changes the taste of stuff that is really bad for you then it is a plus..The I could do with out it its not special is a good thing.. I cant believe you are 10 days out eating puree foods or soft foods. I have to wait until week #5 to be on soft foods.. -
Got sleeved here. There is just a small small difference between the sleeve and plication. the difference is leaving the stomach in..Well when you heal your scars make your new stomach it will never leak once your out the 2 or 3 week period when leaks usuallly occur.. I am a firm believer if you do what your doctors says the chance of leaks are little to none. I would chose the sleeve if I was offered the band or the sleeve. Like I said it is just my opinion.

Girl I think if any one of us would be straight water people we would all die...lol Any way i know that all different doctor are different but anything that is flavored has no calories or sugar counts towards water intake..Decaf tea or coffee counts as water also..When I got out of surgery The taste of water just wasn't the same. Now I drink water, cystal light, sobe lifewater, vitamen water anything that doesn't contain calories or sugar.. I kinda mix and match and it is effortless to get in my water now

Anyone wake at night with acid in their throat?
Billy363627 replied to weightnomore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc prescribed me protonics and I am a dedicated follower of it.. I know from my past I have struggled with acid and I know he told me that I probably would battle it 6 to 8 months out of surgery.. Well I told him that;s fine then just keep me on it a year and I would try to get off of it then. I'm not taking any chances my script coverage plan is too good not to stay on top of it....I would at least call your doc and get his opinion he might want you on a ppi for a couple of more months..goodluck -
