I am planning to get sleeved
Billy363627 replied to julissa0228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well judith you are at the right sight for the answers you need. I had just the sleeve alone but i can tell you lthat I would do it 100 times over with no regrets. The band from the things I have heard has so many failures. Slips and after 3 to 5 years the complications increase rapidly.. I wont tell you that this surgery is right for you but I for one am very happy with it so far..The only true thing I can tell you is to educate yourself and make a decision based on your finding. -
Haven't even had surgery yet, and I'm not desiring food

No Post-Op Special Diet!
Billy363627 replied to jerri's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reason why so many doctors say liquids, thick liquids, soft foods the regular foods because the stomach is new and is prone to leaks until healed. I would be scared as hell if my doctor said that you could go on regular foods after day 3. Are you sure you are having the vertical sleeve? If you are the best chances of getting a leak are within the first 4 weeks. There isn't any way I will be putting any food solids into my sleeve until after 5 weeks of surgery..You might want to double check with them and make sure they are giving you the guidelines for the sleeve. I am so glad that I have the restrictions like I do. i really dont' want to borrow any problems.. -
Hey they got to make money..lol I was getting ready for surgery and I saw a Mc donalds commercial on the big screen tv.. now that's wrong...

Surgery date is in sight!
Billy363627 replied to MissyG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all I would make them keep in the hospital for at least 2 days..you will be struggling to get liquids in so the more time your in the hospital the better because they supercharge the amounts of fluids through your iv. The first day i was only allowed ice chips they want to make sure you are not going to start throwing up..the second day I got as much as water that i could intake. The whole day I got 30 ounces of water. Your body needs 64 oz to survive. I would make them keep me for an additional day. It will help you so much..Second when you go on your liquid diet it pretty much sucks for the first 2 days. If you can get past the first 2 days you will not want food anymore if you follow your doctors reccomendations. Of course you will be on about 60 grams of proteins avaliable through shake form. The protein shakes will curb your hunger a little bit. you will end up not wanting food after your second day. You have to get prepared for surgery and pretty much you will most likely be on liquids or thick liquids for at least 4 weeks after surgery.. One thing to remember through all of this the liquids are getting you ready for the calorie intake you will be getting after surgery. I did not cheat but there has been a few that has. I know I was very commited to my liquids and it has made all the difference to me. Please keep us posted and good luck -
I am 15 days post op and I still crave food.. Yesterday I was in the car and I would have gave anything for some generals chicken with lomang noodle..Your craving will get better you just have to be patient . I am on the thick liquid and it is a little better than clears but not much..lol we will make it you just have to be strong.. I think your mind plays tricks on you and makes you want these things.

Is it really gas. . . or something else
Billy363627 replied to butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be on the safe side and Go to the doctor. i know that you has a gall blatter as well as an appendix on the right side the ther gallblatter will attack around the lower rib area on the right and the appendix will be painful around your belly button area. You at least need to get a doctors opinion on it.. It wouldn't hurt to call your baratric doc and get his 2 cents on it either.. good luck and please keep us posted -
HELP I need Tips for slowing down
Billy363627 replied to Audrey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YOu have to put the fork down between bites. before surgery I was getting to the point when I was eating by chewing everythign 27 times. I know it took a little more time to eat but I was trying to train myself slow down. The more you slow down to me the better your food taste and the more enjoyment you get from eating .. -

I am personally don't drink water unless I have no other options..I have to dress it up a little.. -

I met a 4-year sleever today
Billy363627 replied to DougNichols's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This should be a guide to even the most educated sleever..She has said what your doctor has said but she didn't listen!! We all support one another good, bad everthing in between. I know everyone knows this is a tool for weight loss. There are people out there that think this is the cure you have to do nothing else. I learn everyday and I am soo glad to have heard about this lady. I feel soo sorry for her circumstances but it teaches us that if you are not dissapline and you slip you can be in her situation very quickly..I am not looking back the road is too long.. I have already been there I don't want any part of that life anymore.. -
My Sleeve story - Surgery was done Jan. 13, 2011
Billy363627 replied to Connie31079's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you having soo much nausea you can back to the stage prior for another couple of days. I have heard that if food is not yet tolerated that you can go back to soft foods or thick liquids until your body is more used to solid foods. Sometimes your body is not ready for the next step and you have to back up one step.. I hope this helps and good luck -
I have been taking protonics for a long time. the pill is smaller and it is a tab form so no getting stuck ..Take it faithfullly everyday..

Large Pills during 1st week of post-op
Billy363627 replied to Husky2Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You think they could switch your meds for a couple of weeks. I was told that it would be around 3 to 4 months out before I could have big horse pills..but they should be able to change your meds to maybe half doses that can be swallowed easier..Just some ideas..good luck -

Billy363627 replied to shaundra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Well good update.. the last two day I haven't had any bad dreams. so far so good... Emily I do not take fish oil.
-
These dreams are really disturbing and scary. I dream I am eating something gorging down food and then wake up and say what am I doing. I get really worried. they are happening every night and I just wish one night that I would have a normal dream!!! I am losing so much sleep because the dreams seem so real and I am petrafied when I wake up. I have to regain my composure and finally realize these are just dreams...

Bilka try zero carb sobe life water, Vitamin water,,Propel zero they all have the flavors in them but not the carbonation..I would be so afraid to get carbonated water in my sleeve. Since your in Italy I don't really know what is avaliable to you but I have only drank about 32 ounces of water since surgery. I use like crystal light. etc. The taste of water just changed so much for me I guess. When I have nothing else I choose water.
