She told me that the sleeve is becoming more popular so they are trying to put together a sleeve support group. I Think that this would be so good for us.. I will be attending the March 15 meeting and hopefully we will have a sleeve support group starting the month of april.. -

I would take at least 2 weeks maybe 3. The first whole week you feel really bad. The second you feel a lot better and the third you will feel really good. I have a heavy lifting job so I am taking 6 weeks off. The doc wanted me out at least 4 weeks before I lift anything substancial. So I had the short term time and I took another 2 weeks for extra healing. I think you will be good with 2weeks but if you really want to be safe I would do three..

Expected weight loss
Billy363627 replied to maine-lyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well to answer your question quite honestly there is not a set amount you can lose. I have seen people lose 145 pounds and I have seen people lose 110 and can't lose anymore. It really mostly depends on how much over weight you are..It is a trend that the more you weigh the faster you will start losing and more you will lose at first.. The lower your bmi is say your only 75 pounds overweight you will lose slower.. I will tell you though it seems that the lower you keep your carbs it seems that people lose a lot more weight.. So if you stay with your diet and exercise I don't know if there is a set amount you can lose. I know when you get to a point where you want to be you have to up your calorie intake and carbs to maintain. I don't know if that helps you but it really is just my thoughts... -

Introducing Jess... just Jess!
Billy363627 replied to Just Jess's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well welcome just jess.. It is a pleasure to meet you.. I was sleeved on the 1st of February. I have no regret jess and I am going to completely honest with you. When or if you have this surgery I am not going to tell you that you will not be in pain or have nausea. I will tell you that it is very temporary and after all this passes you will be a happier person. I will tell you that you truely need to do this for yourself and no one else. My spouse told me before I went in that she was going to support me but my decesion to have this was totally on me. I really do respect her for that. I will tell you the only down side to the surgery is that when they remove you stomach it is permanent. Would I do it again.. Yes I would do it 100 times over. I know this is for my health and I am on a journey of the new me.. I have only one regret. I wish I could have done it sooner... -
Sounds like the drugs talking.. Its going to take some time.. I was one week out drinking, sleeping and drinking and sleeping.. I promise it will get better. Hey I think all of at one time have been Debbie downers..I guess for the First 3 weeks I was having very weird dreams and couldn't sleep. It will pass I promise you that. Your going to be alright it just takes some time..

Stall. I know it will pass but I still hate it.
Billy363627 replied to brazcan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would kill all the carbs.. I know that it is hard you have to shock your body..If you at 800 calories boost your calories to 1000. I have read a lot here and they say the fastest way to break a stall is shocking the body..do something completely different. -
I am really glad you asked that question. I love to swim and I was also wondering my self..

How many carbs are you taking in?

Baby food during pureed stage?
Billy363627 replied to My Big Day 3/15/2011's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I didn't use baby food but I took soup like vegtable soap and put in a food processor..I know it sound really gross but it works..It is actuallly good . Last week I took beef stew - the potatoes and put it in food processor and added salt and pepper to it . It was really a whole lot better than clear liquids.. I just don't think I could do the baby food thing..I would rather go hungry.. -
Salad is probably one of the hardest to digest..I don't know why but there have been some posts here saying that people have had all kinds of problem with lettuce..I too am craving salad but not enough to get sick trying..

10 day post op food intake
Billy363627 replied to vickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well to be honest with you I was on clear liquids for the first two weeks after surgery. the third week I was on thick liquids like yougurt and sugarfree pudding. I had sugery the 1st so I am a little bit further out than you but I am almost able to finish a yougurt I usually leave maybe a ounce left in the cup. For some reason or another yogurts with fruit seem to feel me up faster. When I eat vanilla yogurt I usually finish all of it. Any way so I guess if you are doing something wrong than I am too. So good luck I really don't think that either one of us is doing anything wrong. The most important thing is to eat really slow and listen to your body when it says its full put it down.. I think your doing well though.. -
6 Month Post-op Carb-free Diet?
Billy363627 replied to My Big Day 3/15/2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to have carbs even healty carbs for energy.. I keep my carbs usully under 50 but If i go over 50 the next day I go back down. When your body goes in keytosis you are getting less than 5o grams of carbs and all Proteins.. as long as you don't go over 100 grams of carbs you will be losing weight like crazy.. -

Smoking Cigarettes
Billy363627 replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
warrior smoking is always a part of us.. I haven't smoked in 3 months and I get into situations and sometimes say man I would love to have a smoke.. With any addiction there are always temptation and that is really suck..You are quitting for your surgery so I really do respect that. So what are your plans after you heal. Since you havent' had one in soo long will you start again or will you change your lifestyle? Well I took the fact that I didn't have one for over 3 months now and I decided to just not start back up..It does get easier. Good luck -
Eating mushies feels like swallowing glass - normal?
Billy363627 replied to DougNichols's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How does your stomach react to say yougurt or pudding. I have heard that if you go into mushies and it doesn't agree with you then back up a couple of days. If your not having problems with thick liquids then stay on them for 2 or 3 days then go back to mushies. Anyway in doubt always call your doctor.. -
Gaterade G3 protein water
Billy363627 replied to PatrickG's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You have to check the sugar content out. I know this is a very easy way to get protein but it could have negative effects on your weight loss.. I usually try to get just limited number of sugars..say under 5 grams. You have to also check the sodium content in them also. They will make you retain fluids. -
I had surger the 1st of February and I had bleeding the inital day of surgery but no more.. I would think it would be fine unless you started getting redness around incision and fever. If you have any questions call the doctors nurse to verify and make sure there is nothing to worry about..

VITAMINS VITAMINS VITAMINS
Billy363627 replied to Jinjin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Celebrate bariatric vitamen and my nutrionist said that I wouldn't have to take any additional vitamins with it . I do take calicum citrate. Make sure it is citrate not carbonate. There is a difference and sleeve patients need citrate.. -
Surgery Tomorrow... So scared...
Billy363627 replied to EvRev's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well you just have come too far not to go through it now.. I had my surgery the 1st of February and I was too scared as you are. You are doing this to better you health better you life and you have to remember this..You have to take a step in the unknown if you want to make a difference in your life..The doctor will probably come see you before you go into surgery .. Just ask him question and I would recommend you getting something to relax you in your iv. You will be fine. Just remember after you surgery to sip and walk . You have to walk and the more you walk and sip the bettter you will feel..They will be really good about your comfort after surgery.. They got some good drugs too...LOL Any way good luck and you will do wonderful..
