Day 6 update (for those who are interested)
Billy363627 replied to 2bslimkim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are doing very good you have to remember you stomach has a funnel effect right now . Clear liquids are pretty much going to go right through you; 2 weeks out I was drinking unlimited water. when you get to the thick liquids you will start seeing that you have a restriction. When you get to the soft foods you will say wow. I was questioning my doctor and told him I wanted pictures to say he even did anything..It is really funny but when I got on soft foods I can eat no more than 2 to 3 ounces. It is wonderful..YOu are doing really good and don't really worry about you liquid intake drink as much as you can..More water usually equals more weight loss..good luck -
Need some advice please!!
Billy363627 replied to pnatalie1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well my doc tells me when you are drinking in the liquid stage the water that is in your protein shakes count as you daily water intake.. so If you drink 3 protein shakes a day you will be getting 18 ounces of water..so you will only need 42 ounces of water to complete the daily water intake.. -
Worried Sleeve Won't Rid My Uncontrollable Hunger!!!
Billy363627 replied to 2notbwinded's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well first of all we all have eating problems or we wouldn't be here. If you have eating binges is it controllable ? If not I think you should at least start counceling to try to understand your relationship with food. I am not saying you should stray from your deceision to have surgery I would think it would help you. It is true that you will not be as hungry after surgery. Some say that they have to remember to eat at all. It is true that the surgery will change the way you think about food. You have to understand that this is a tool and your success is up to you.. Can you fall back to slider foods..yes can you eat the wrong things? yes It is a powerful tool but you have to make the right choices when you eat after surgery..Proteins first and vegetable seconds.. There is not a lot of room for carbs left. Can you get full on carbs?? yes you can but when you do this you will have malnutriion issues and gain weight .. If you slide back to bunches of carbs or graze you could gain some or most of your weight back...I was sleeved about 5.5 weeks ago. I had trouble with foods all my life I love to eat. I will tell you right now if I had to do it all over again I would have the surgery 100 times over. It has gave me the strength to eat right . It is a wonderful tool that I don't want to do without.. -
What is the best tasting PROTEIN shake???
Billy363627 replied to Weightbgone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drinik GNC wheybolic isolate extreme 60..It is awesome and in 3 drinks you get 60 grams of Proteins. The best flavor is choclate and if you drink it with milk It tastes like choclate milk.. I have had many Protein shakes and it is the best. If you try it get the choclate it is the best. Its awesome. -
vickie I am 5 weeks out and still am having a problem with energy..Until you get on solid foods you are going to be limited.. The anesthesia usually takes at least 4 weeks to get out of your system..Be kind to yourself!!! As far as weight loss the people with higher bmi lose weight faster.. So you low bmi'er don't loose that fast. You will get to your goal you just have to be patient. Get you protein in and up your water intake as much as possible. You will start feeling better soon..

Billy363627 replied to Weightbgone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:welldoneclap: Well I will tell you the first 3 day really suck. If you can make it for the first 3 days you will do it. I used jello, protein drinks and a lot I mean a lot of water to keep myself full..I know after day 3 for me I really didn't want any food.. Your body will turn on the fat reserves that you have and you will want food less and less. You can do it don't give up.. I was on liquids for 2 weeks was it hard..well yes but it can be done if you want it bad enough.. -

Question about weight loss before surgery
Billy363627 replied to Sara Ann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:welldoneclap: Well I can tell you from experience in two weeks I lost 18 pounds pre op.. You have to be strict and be very determined when your on your liquids. Sugarfree jello I lived on..lol Make sure you getting 60+ grams of protein a day through protein shakes. Drink as much water as you can stand and be commited. It is going to be difficult for the first 3 days but after that I think you will do awesome.. You can do it!!!!! Also make sure you pick protein drinks that have little to no carbs..By day 3 or 4 your body should be in keytosis a constant state of fat burning..You got cheerleaders here if you need someone give you support... -
Bye Bye Band, Hello GPS
Billy363627 replied to Mamma Litts's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Well if you follow what your surgeon says you likely hood of a leak is less that 1%. You know the surgery that you are planning to have may cause leaks too right. Not a very high risk but you can develop leaks. I had VSg and I followed my docs diet to the T and I know that I don't have a leak. With the type of surgery like your having after your band has eroded through your stomach you risks of leaks are a lot higher than people that never had a band. -
They do recommend broth from anything that is a soup...Chicken and beef broth kinda salty so I guess it wouldn't hurt unless you start eating noodles..The first 4 to 5 weeks are really important so you have to be really carefull..

Worried it won't work or will gain back...
Billy363627 replied to Lanette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well first of all don't fail before you suceed. This is very much a good tool for losing weight but you have to stick with the program. YOu have to say deep inside you that this is going to work. You yourself have to take that first step into the unkown. You have to not let the feeling of you can't do it get in the way of doing what is best for your health..There are a lot of what if's in life you can't give in to that. If you want this for your health then you will do it..There is no failure only success.. Keep your eyes fixed on the goal and take your life back!!! -
Good luck and our prayers go out with you...Remember sip and walk.. The more you walk the quicker you will heal..
