    April bandsters

My surgery date was 4/26 and I am down 33 lbs. No fills yet, I don't feel like I need one - I can pretty much eat everything, but I only take small portions -- way less I used to eat. My weight loss has slowed down to about 1lb a week, and I am happy with that:rolleyes2:.
  2. Good to hear from you. I am feeling so much better now and I can honestly say that I am glad I had the surgery. For now, I am not having any fills though - at least not for a couple more months. I am able to eat pretty much anything now, but my portions are definitely much smaller than I used to eat. I am losing weight slowly, about 1 lb a week right now, but to be honest I am in no rush. I just started to exercise this week, so hopefully that will help some. I am noticing that some of my clothes are baggy now - and that feels so good! Take care and keep in touch.

  3. Hi, I haven't been on line much. I had a horrible surgery. The dr perforated my bowel during surgery and I had to have a second emergency surgery the next day to repair it. I was in the hospital for 5 nights and 1 of those nights they put me in intensive care. I am feeling better now, but its going slow for me. I have started to eat solids this week, and everything is staying down fine. I really don't have much of an appetite yet, and I am hoping it lasts because after all I have been through, I honestly don't want to get a fill for awhile. I am working on getting my positive outlook back. I am sure once I start feeling better, I'll be back to my old self again. I am down about 24-25 lbs which is nice, but I still am having lots of second thoughts about this whole thing right now. I am just so afraid of needing another surgery! Anyway, how are you doing?

  4. I am just starting to feel better. My surgery was 4/27. I had a terrible surgical experience because my bowel was perforated. I ended up having a second surgery a day after to repair it and then was in the hospital for 5 nights and 1 of those nights was in intensive care. All in all, it was horrible. I am very apprehensive now but am trying to regain my positive attitude. I have lost about 25 lbs so far and I do not feel hungry between meals at all. I am still having problems getting all the liquids down, but everything I have eaten has stayed down and I am very relieved about that. I am working on getting the protein in and have been adding new things slowly. My next appt is 5/28 and I am going to pass on a fill - after my experience in the hospital, I just want to take this very, very slow.
  5. Hi, I am doing pretty good. I am glad its getting closer. I am a little nervous, but looking forward to getting it over with. I am down 10 lbs so far from the pre-surgery diet, so its a nice jump-start. How about you - how are you holding up?

    Pre-op diet

I am on day 9 of 15. My surgery is on 4/27. My pre-surgical diet includes 4 Protein shakes a day, and a choice of 5 of the following: 1/2 cup of natural applesauce; 1/2 cup of cream of wheat or regular oatmeal; 1/2 cup of a creamed soup - low fat, made with water; 1/2 cup of sugar free pudding; or 1/2 cup fat free yogurt. I do like unjury shakes - I am just getting tired of them, but they do taste good I like the chocolate best. I wish I had the diet with the meat and vegs --- the breakfast sounds wonderful, I would so love an egg for breakfast!
  7. Thank you, I am a little nervous too, but I am so glad I have made this decision because I know its the right one for me. Its weird thinking that a week from right now, my surgery will be over. Good luck with your surgery too, I know we will all do great!

  8. I can't believe how close its getting. A week from tomorrow.... it will be here before we know it. My surgery is at 8, I have to be at the hospital by 6. I am glad its going to be over in the morning. When I had my mastectomy, it wasn't until 3pm and I had the entire day to worry, starve and be thirsty. I have a feeling, we won't be hungry at all after the surgery, which is something I am looking forward to! I got through this past weekend without cheating, but I wanted to! I talked myself out of it each time I got close though. I know what you mean when you say how hard you worked - I feel the same way. I also was able to zip my jeans without laying on the bed on Sunday --- which means I did drop a few pounds. I am holding off on weighing myself until after the surgery. I am hoping for a nice jump start weight loss.

  9. Hi, good to hear from you. I have been on the preop diet for 5 days now. I hate it, but I know I have to do it. I had my preop testing on Tuesday and I see my primary care phys on the 20th for my final surgery clearance. Also met with a group at my surgeon's office yesterday and they explained to everyone what to expect. It was actually nice to meet others in my area who are going through the same thing too. I can not believe how close it is to our surgery date, the 27th is only 10 days from tomorrow!

    Is UnJury worth it?

I just completed day 3 of my 14 day pre op diet and Unjury is making it a lot easier. I bought the Chocolate, Vanilla and Chicken Soup. Chocolate is my favorite but all are good. I also bought the Magic Bullet and have been making great shakes. I only have the chicken soup once a day and it helps a lot because by dinner time, I feel like something other than chocolate or vanilla. My pre op diet requires 4 protein shakes a day. So I mix them up, vanilla for breakfast, chocolate for lunch, chicken soup for dinner then vanilla or chocolate later. I did not think I would be able to handle this diet -- but I am doing great and honestly its because of Unjury. Although I have to admit, I would love to have something solid -- even an egg would be wonderful!
  11. Hi, Happy Easter! I am doing good. It is a very busy month for me. I will be out of town the end of this week at an Insurance Conference and I start my liquid protein diet for 2 weeks, prior to surgery. I am scheduled for an exercise/nutrition class at my surgeon's on April 15th. I have to go to the hospital for pre-testing the following week and then I am off for another appt. with my primary care doctor for surgical clearance. Then the 27th is the big day. I have to be at the hospital by 6 AM and my surgery is scheduled for 9 AM. I am so ready for this I can't wait! I am really glad I'll be busy this month because that will make the time go by quicker. I just bought a 4 week supply of UNJURY. Its the only one I tried, but I actually liked it immediately, so I didn't bother trying any others. Good luck on your search! Keep me posted on how you are doing. Take Care. Robin

  12. Hi - We are being banded the same day 4/27. We'll have to compare notes! I read your profile, you are younger than me, but I am a Twilight fan too. My daughters read all the books and passed them onto me! I watched New Moon on Sunday twice!!!!! I guess I'm young at heart! At any rate, I am so looking forward to having this surgery and getting on with living healthy. My husband has always been in great shape, but I just kept getting bigger over the years. Although I am not looking foward to the pre-op diet, I know it will get me started on the right track.

  13. I had my thyroid removed and take levothyroxin every day. My surgeon did not seem concerned, but I was told by a couple people at work that soy protein is an absolute No No for anyone with thyroid problems. I will be starting the 2 week liquid diet in April, before my surgery and am worried sick about it. Is there anyone out there that has thyroid problems and is it true that soy protein can alter the effectiveness of thyroid drugs? Also does anyone know of any protein powder that does not have soy in it? Even the Whey powders I have looked at seem to also have some soy.

    From Start to finish,

My first consult was in November 09 and finally, my surgery is scheduled for April 27th. For insurance, I had to have a few medical tests, a psych evaluation, meet with nutritionist, attend seminar and special exercise class. I only had to wait aprox. 5 months, which isn't too bad after reading so many other posts.
  15. Thank you Betsy, You did put my mind at ease. I am going to talk to my PA about this as well when I see her next week. This is all so new to me and I can't help but be concerned, in fact probably overly concerned about everything!
  16. Don't worry, you will be in jeans. I am the queen of thunder thighs! Over the past 20 years I have yo-yo'd up and down and in my down times, my legs slimmed down too. After menopause kicked in, I am at my all time highest weight now though, and also because of my age, I am worried about excess skin --- but believe me, anything has to be better than this. My legs were never perfect, but they were nice! I am hoping to see them again over the next couple years. My surgery date is April 27th but I have started to watch what I am eating now, before my 2 wk pre-surgery diet starts.

    April 2010

Received my approval from insurance a couple days ago and my doctor's office said they are scheduling my surgery in April. I am guessing it will be around the middle of the month. I am nervous too and am so hoping that this is the right decision for me. :smile2:

    I'm new today...

Hi Jeri, I just received my insurance company's approval yesterday. My surgery will be in April. I am looking forward to joining this group and to being successful with all of you. Good luck on your journey!:smile2:

    Thru the 1st step.

My appointment with the surgeon is on 2/17 too. I already had the psych evaluation and am meeting with a nutritionist on 2/10. After everyone puts their reports together, they will then submit to my insurance carrier. I am a wreck about all of this so I absolutely know how you feel. I am excited at the same time though! Good luck to you.
