I am still in the pre-lapband surgery stage.  I have faced my moment of truth and am going through the steps to change my health and my life.  I discussed this with my primary doctor in November of 2009 and she felt I would be a good candidate for this surgery since I have tried almost every other diet on the planet with only temporary successes.That started the ball rolling.  In January 2010, I met with the psychologist for my evaluation.  I then met with the nutritionist on February 10, 2010 and finally on February 17, 2010, I met Dr. Dang Tuan Pham of Synergy Bariatrics in Buffalo NY for the first time.  Dr. Pham answered all of my questions and was so understanding and likeable.  He is a newer doctor on staff, but I felt an immediate confidence in him.  He did not rush me through anything, he joked around a little too, which made me feel more at ease then I ever expected to.  I picked Synergy Bariatrics because they are affiliated with Sisters of Charity Hospital.  I am a breast cancer survivor and Sisters Hospital provided me with amazing care.  I have a trust in them and decided if I was going to take this step, I wanted to do so with a doctor that was affiliated with a hospital that I know and trust.I received approval from my Insurance Company on Friday, March 5, 2010.  I also received a letter from Synergy that they would be scheduling my surgery in April.   I have only told my husband and grown children, my boss and 4 close friends about my upcoming surgery.  I don't really want to deal with all the questions and comments from others right now.  I will try to update my progress on a regular basis.  I am nervous about this, but also feel in my heart that it is the right decision for me.UPDATE - I have my surgery date!  April 27th.  I can't wait!   I start the 2 week pre-op diet on April 12th.  I am so relieved to have my date scheduled.
