  1. Hey new friend! Thanks for the request! In faith all is well with you!

  2. I went back to work on the 4th day, then again I work for myself and from home, but I had several meetings that day that I needed to take. So day 4, meetings, errands and I totally felt like I over did it by the end of the day, so I went to bed early... woke up and made it through the rest of the week then thanks to the holidays had some down time :cursing:
  3. Many people will disagree with me here... But I'm a FIRM believer in listen to your body, not your doctor. I did what my body was telling me (moved to mushies on day 3) and my recovery was rapid. I didn't have nausea or anything like that though, where you would need to be careful because you do. I had the nurse scold me for moving up too fast but when I sat down with the surgeon he said it was fine. That if I was intune with my body enough to know what it needed to continue doing that because it's obviously working for me. However most people are not. That being said, if you call your surgeon chances are they'll allow you to move up to mushies, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, etc.. As for the BR visits I can't relate, but it sounds more like you're having a bad reaction to the anethesia than the band.. Either way double check with your Dr and make sure everything is ok then get something in you, if you think you'll feel better.. can't hurt to try it. Either way, Hope you get to feeling better soon.

    Protein Bars

I use the Zone bars as a meal replacement option, so I'm not worried about the calories, sugar, fat. Even though they're 140 calories 5 grams of fat and 9 grams of sugar. It's the good kind of sugar (agave nectar, etc...not refined sugar) and they're 14 grams of Protein. To me the coconut cluster flavor tastes like a candy bar, like a whatchamacallit or something so I love those ones. I'll eat one of those and be good for hours. Target sells them in boxes for around 4 dollars for 6. Most stores sell them separately for 1.50-2.00 each. Speaking of which I'm out of bars time to go to target!

Eh it's just not the same...

So I had pizza last night.. I was craving it.. (I know I know) I blame the $10 for any large pizza email I got from Pizzahut...anyways I got thin crust thinking this would help with bloating...etc.. Eh it's just not the same.. you ever eat something cause you had a craving and then you're like "eh" this isn't what I was expecting." or "this isn't as good as I thought it would be" - yep totally the reaction I had last night. Or maybe it's truly that I just don't care for pizza really, and especially pizza hut.. either way I was just about full after a piece, I started to eat another one and I was done.. which makes me glad I didn't get hand tossed but seriously who wants pizza on a cracker? Ick!

    Everything is Down hill

I understand where you're coming from. I researching the lapband for 5 years before I decided to do it, to be met with the 6 months waiting. It went by before I knew it. Looking back on it, I actually found it helpful as I was told to practice eating like I already had the band so my system didn't go into shock. My portion sizes were much bigger but the order of food and chewing is now 2nd nature to me. I don't have to question or wonder. Also depending on where you're getting your surgery through and your insurance you may not have to lose any weight. I was told not to lose more than 10lbs during my 6 months or my insurance wouldn't approve me. I lost 12lbs before I was approved, but I believe the form was put in showing 8 or 9lbs lost. Then the liquid diet and post op weightloss. All and all I'm down 54lbs, 22.8lbs since surgery on 12/18. This has been THE BEST thing I ever could have done for myself, and you sound like you will benefit equally as well. Here's to the next few months FLYING by for you! Keep us posted on your progress!

    Sucking at success.....

Well let's speak the positive into it.. You've come this far, you've gone through surgery and lost 4lbs. Starting today and every day after you'll make healthier choices in food and not resort back to old habits. You realize that the band and fills is NOT what makes you lose weight, and that it's just a tool to help YOU lose the weight by restricting portion size. Going forward you will think about everything before you put it into your mouth. Is this going to help me get near my goal or further away from my goal? Is this going to help me succeed of fail? Remove all the garbage and sweets from your house and know that for you all the fast food places are closed. If time is an issue you will prepare most of your meals and package them on Sundays, find protein shakes as meal replacements and avoid all of the fattening foods. If you need some assistance on healthy recipes I can assist you, but you really need to figure out why you're sabotaging yourself so early on? Have you dealt with the issues of WHY you eat? If not seek counseling or a lapband support group in your area to help you deal with the underlying reasons. Best wishes and God bless!

    out to eat...ahhh

Have an appetizer or a salad or fish or whatever is easy for you to eat. I go out to eat with people who don't know I'm banded all the time, nobody ever asks anything or even notices.
  10. 60-70 grams of Protein is the average daily recommendation for most people. And it's fairly easy to obtain. I've had my first meal scrambled eggs and turkey sausage this morning and that meal alone was 25 grams of protein 12 from the eggs and 13 from the sausage. 360 calories. Later I'll have a protein smoothie, 2 scoops of whey powder (36 grams) with 1/2 a cup of fage greek yogurt (10 grams) and 8 oz of skim milk (8 grams) mixed with strawberries, bananas and apples with a slash of agave nectar, blended with ice. The fruit doesn't have much protein in it, but it's important to stay balanced the entire shake has 54 grams of protein in it. 392 calories not including fruit, with the fruit it's around 500 but it makes 44 oz so you can split that into various servings that come out to about 100 calories each. Add that to the 25 from breakfast I'm already at 79 grams of protein for the day less any Snacks or dinner. But as someone else suggested, simple things like mixing protein powder into sf pudding or fage yogurt with sf Jello is a very easy way to get extra protein while keeping your calories down and curbing any hunger. Good luck!

    FUllbar question

Just chew them well and eat as normal until you're feeling full. What's the protein content? You don't want to feel so full that you'r'e not hungry enough to eat the protein that you need.

my doc shut my fill down

Hysterical... and to lose 50lbs in 3months you're well ahead of schedule so he's right. Frustrating as it can be, he's right. Enjoy the gym.
  13. Yvette1026

    Getting frustrated!

The squeaky wheel gets the oil, call them EVERY day, and if necessary multiple times a day. You're at the stage where your file is going to get piled up on somebody's desk. Getting covered by every new file going on top of it. Call every day and make them dig it out. Be nice, but to the point, they'll have you approved within the week.
  14. Designer whey is 100 calories per scoop. With the shakes I make (adding 2 scoops, apples, bananas, strawberries and agave nectar and 1/2 of fage greek yogurt and 6oz of skim milk) it makes 44 oz (I split it up between the day or sip all day) and the whole thing is just under 500 calories. So if you divide that into 8oz servings (comes out to 5 and 1/2) that's just around 100 calories per serving. Making your own and using fresh and natural ingredients is always best.

Eh it's just not the same...

LOL... my first blog on here is about my affair with Ronald and his golden arches... I'm never going back! lol
  16. Be encouraged! You're actually right on track. Yes some people lost extreme amounts of weight in 3 months. HOWEVER, the lapband is designed to help you to lose weight at the rate of 8-10lbs per month. If you've been banded for 3 months and you've lost 28lbs you're RIGHT on track. Continue at this rate (let's say 9lbs a month) So 9lbs a month times 9 remaining months to your bandiversary puts you at losing around 9x9= 81 another 81lbs in a year's time. For a total of 109lbs down? That's amazing results. There will be weeks or months were you don't lose as much or even sometimes *gasp* gain, but be encouraged that you're doing everything necessary to lose the weight for good.
  17. Fill that void with protein or things that stick with you like oatmeal, etc... Only real suggestion I have... I make sure everything I eat has high protein or protein added to it.. Even something like SF jello.. I'll mix in some greek yogurt to give it protein, SF pudding, mix in some protein powder, etc... Keeps hunger at bay.
  18. Yvette1026

    Maybe this was a mistake!!

16lbs is more than you would have lost without the band right? So on the upside you ARE losing. We all are going to lose at different paces so it's important to not compare yourself to others. That being said it's very hard to offer advice without knowing what you're eating. Are you eating in the right order? Are you eating high calorie or high fat foods? Are you snacking? Are you eating enough? Etc.. There's so many aspects that go into this for the weight loss to be successful. Having the band is NOT what makes us lose weight. It's the healthy food and lifestyle choices that we make that makes us lose or gain weight. So without knowing what a typical week's menu is for you, exercise, Water intake, etc.. it would be difficult to provide any real help or suggestions. But don't feel like a failure, remember without failure there's no success. You WILL get to your sweet spot and lose!

    $63,468.64

The price tag on my surgery. Nevermind the $800 for my first fill...That my insurance doesn't seem to be covering all of.. Question though. If it's $150 for a fill with no insurance, how is it $800+ with insurance and I'm responsible for $186 of it. HUH WHAT???  I think I'm going to have to have a conversation with their billing department because one of these things is not like the other. Or how do you get the surgery cash for 15K yet my insurance is being charge $63,468.64???? How does that add up? I guess I should be ok with it and grateful it's going to my insurance and not me but REALLY?!??!! $63,468.64??!??!?!
  21. Yvette1026

When it rains it pours... and I don't mean weather.

We're only going to speak the positive into this situation. Good thing they found it and now you can go in and get a brand new band. Best wishes on the entire process and rapid recovery and healing to you!

    $63,468.64

Let us not forget that my surgeon is a seperate $17K on his own. The 63K is coming from the place I had my surgery at (an out patient surgery center that I spent approximately 3 hours and 49 mins AND had to complain about because of their various issues that needed to be address. Everything they billed they billed as "Hospital incidentals" really??!?!??! incidentals?!??!?! And as for the fill my insurance paid around 700 for my fill, off that one fill I should be good and paid up for a few, especially with them being conservative on the fill, I'm gonna need her to put an extra CC or two in there.. or shoot send me home with my own needle and some saline... Although I'm definitely worth it, I have sticker shock right now.
  24. Eat normally... so if you have steak, salad and potato - you would eat the steak first 4-6oz and then salad and then potato. If you're eating properly, chewing 30 times, waiting 30 to 60 seconds inbetween bites etc you should be full by the time you get to the potato. You can eat regular solid foods, you won't know what your "NO" foods are until you try them. Personally I haven't found any yet. I've been able to eat everything as long as I chew it properly. Although I must admit, cashews were a lil' hard on my tummy, but it could have been the coffee I drank before them (was trying to stay awake on a roadtrip). Just eat sensible balanced meals and you should do just fine.
