that seems like a lot for a first fill, but as another person said, maybe you have a 14cc band (although i thought the new bands didn't hold as much) anyways i'm assuming you're one a liquid diet for a few days? I would suggest paying attention to how much you can drink at one time and how easy (or hard) it goes down. just make sure that if you're having any trouble swallowing or holdinig anything down that you contact your doctor and have him adjust things.... no need to be miserable! Best of luck to you!! ps. i just called my dr today and told him i can't wait until the end of jan for my next fill... i need some restriction !! :w00t:

I'm new on here and have been reading a lot of posts from others about different things going on with bands. I did my band in June 05. i was overseas at the time. by June of 07 I had lost 106 pounds. That was a year after my last fill. I never bothered to find a Dr here in upstate NY to give me a fill because i felt i didn't need it. in july of 08 i started having problems with acid reflux and vomiting. i went to a bariatric surgeon here and he deflated my band. he wanted to do an endoscopy because he thought maybe i had some obstruction in my esophagus. test cam back normal and he told me there was no problem with my band. this dr would not fill my band because i had my surgery out of the usa. 6 months later and 50 pounds later i was having terrible pain in my stomach. 4 months after that i found another bariatric surgeon who said he would give me a fill. this dr found out that my band had slipped. i went in for surgery and had my band put back into place (THANK GOD!). i am now 5 weeks post surgery. i had my first fill last week and am feeling no restriction. i am supposed to go back in january for my next visit, but i will be calling to reschedule a sooner visit. i was only given a little less than 1cc in a 10cc band. i know from previsous experience that won't do me any good. i had lost 15 pounds my first week after surgery, then gained 5 the second week, despite not eating anything! it's holiday time and boy is it hard with all the goodies around! this was my first post.. just wanted to introduce myself. sorry for writing a book!:tongue2:

Hi Luv, well everyone is different, but it usually takes a few fils before you feel restriction. for me, the hunger never really went away, i'm just restricted when eating. once i get the full feeling then i stop.. with that and exercise the weight will come off! i just had revision surgery(my band slipped) and had my first fill 10 days ago. i'm not really filling restriction so i'm calling my dr. to ask him for another fill. my next appointment is at the end of january, but i can't wait that long. hopefully you'll feel a difference soon and your weight will continue to come off. great job on losing 40 lbs already!!
