  1. Had my first post-op meeting with my doc(6 days banded)and was informed that at our next meeting(in 2 weeks)I would receive my first fill?! I was a little shocked that I would get a fill that quickly? Is 3 weeks uncommon? I will barely have been in "smooshy" stage by then.......are you not supposed to wait 6-8 weeks until you get to solids to find out what you can and can't handle both volume and texture wise? Thanks-Brian PS-Also what is the "average" cc's that I might expect for a 1st fill?
  2. Guess I need to buy a scanner, because I didn't have a digital before my surgery. But the good news in that I am down 95 lbs. since my Sept. '06 operation! Still got a ways to go, but I like the results I've seen in just 8 months. This was just a quick shot I took yesterday morning of the "new" me........
  3. Just trying to get an idea of what the average "perfect" amount of fill is for most people with the 4cc band. I'm going in for my second fill this Thur. I've got 2cc's right now and was wondering if I should go with 1/2 a cc or with a 1/4cc. My restriction in the morning is good, but after I eat something....I can eat quite a bit, probably atleast 10oz. in a half hour. I hear once you get the band 1/2 full, that every small fill after that is pretty noticable. Do you think a 1/2cc jump is too much? Thanx Brian
  4. Yeah, yesterday my PA who does the fills suggested that I go another 1/2cc for my second fill which would bring me up to 2 1/2. Supposed to be on liquids for 2 days and definitely notice a pretty big difference. I could only get down about 4-5 oz. of protein shake on my 1/2 hour lunch.

    Is this GURGLING normal?

I went golfing today and got paired up with a couple. Right before I stepped up to the teebox I took a big swig of gatorage.....well I got up there addressed the ball and must have had my mouth slightly open and this crazy loud gurgle wheeze came up my throat and out of my mouth while I swung! I had a big smile on my face and turned around to see the couple starting to snicker, so I explained what was up. Guess it was nice to have something distract me from thinking about my golf swing.....KILLED the ball down the middle!!!
  6. OK, so I go to change my pic today......and did it no problem. Except that you only see my pic when you click on my profile. And my ? is, how can I get my pic to show up on my posts? I'm sure I'm overlooking something very obvious?!<bg> Thanx in advance for your help!-Brian</bg>

    Is this GURGLING normal?

Experienced the exact same stomach "gurgling" issues as yourself for a couple weeks after surgery, but they will go away for the most part as time passes. Congrats on the your band, hope all goes smoothly!
  8. It seems that since I've been banded hiccups are a much more regular occurrence now. Has this spastic motion been known to cause band slips like PB'n or other problems? Thanks-Brian
  9. Glad to hear that, thanks! Perhaps I need to tune in to the hiccups means I'm full thing also?!lol-Brian
  10. Wow, sounds like you got your fills in rapid fire order!<G> I'm really curious how the first one went? Had your weight loss hit a plateau or was it just dr. recommended for your 1st fill? Did you feel like your body had enough time to get used to the 1st fill, before the 2nd two weeks later? Sorry for a the ?'s.....just curious! Thanks-Brian
  11. "well Brian, its hard to say because here in Czech Republic they almost dont want to give you any fills, cause they want to keep that option for time when you arent losing.I think that kind of makes sence. If you feel you have some restriction and you are losing why to have a fill?" That's my exact feeling also Eva! Thanks, I needed to hear that. If I don't feel ready in a couple weeks I'll just tell her that. IMO I think 6 weeks post-op would be just fine. I don't believe restriction is a problem for me at this stage yet, I had my surgery 7 days ago and am down over 8kg so far. Thanks again-Brian
  12. Hey Eficka, your totally right. I guess I just figure that they are the ones who have done this 100's of times and probably this is what has worked best in the past?(even though everyone is vastly different) I think I also have a little trouble saying anything, because my doc is cute and I don't want to seen like a puss.-Brian

    September Bandsters

CONGRATS on your surgery today!!! It will be over before ya know it, can't wait to hear how things went. You can add me to your list, I got banded a week ago on 9/5.-Brian
  14. Hi, my name is Brian and I'm 31. Just had lap-band surgery on Sept. 5th. Things are going well so far, with the exception on one thing. Everytime I sip something,(Water, juice,Protein drink)I get this painful pressure sensation in my throat/upper chest. Almost like heartburn or acid reflex.(have trouble belching also, perphaps this could this be part of the problem?) I am taking very small sips, so I'm sure that's not the problem. After speaking with my surgeon's assistant, she couldn't seem to come up with any explainations.(after asking me if any of my body parts were having soreness, which might indicate a cardiac problem) Wondering if anyone else has experianced this same feeling? Is it something that your body just takes time and adjust to and you eventually get over it? Aside from this one thing, all else seems to be going well. If just drinking liquid is this painful though, I can't imagine when I go to solids! Any of your thoughts and comments are appreciated, THANKS!!!-Brian
  15. I also feel like I've got good restriction thus far(not that it's been very long!:)and personally would like to wait a couple of months to see how things go. I might not lose weight the quickist way possible, but would rather "feel" things out and ease into this......instead of maybe getting frustrated too early with all the restriction?
  16. What kind of band do I have.....hmmm, that's a good ? and one I should probably ask!lol All I saw was what it looked like before hand, I just assumed by the way my surgeon spoke, that there was only one that was approved for FDA use. Unless you are just talking about size, in which case I will have to call my doc and ask.-Brian

    12 hours until banding!

Your probably getting ready to head off to the hospital soon, but just want to say CONGRATS!!! I know things will go great, please keep us updated on your progress. I just had mine done a week ago and am down 17 lbs. already. Good stuff!<BG>-Brian
  18. Pretty much what the others have said. And I spoke indepth with 2 others at my work who had lapbands already. Although, when I intially went to the first meeting all that were there was bypassers.(not to mention all women too!) I was a little shocked not to see even one bander. Well hopefully now that I'm banded I'll be the first to show up for a "show and tell" Being the only bander and the only guy there......that would make me feel pretty gosh darn special!!!lol-Brian
  19. Hey Michele! Yeah, I picked some Beeno up today when I was getting my gallbladder meds. So now when I go to solids, I'll be good to go! Went for my first checkup today, one week out and I'm down 17lbs. SWEET!!!-Brian
  20. I keep forgetting to go over this with my surgeon. But does anyone know at about what time frame you are in the clear for band-slippage due to vomiting? Also with such a small hole to pass though, how does the vomit get out from the lower stomach area.....is it a much bigger ordeal than before the band? This is something I've been pondering/worrying about for awhile now. Thanks-Brian
  21. I must hear more about how to make a DaVinci SF protein shake, please elaborate if you don't mind? Thanks-Brian
  22. Some great ideas, thanks! I will have to cruise on over to the unjury site and check it out. OBTW-congrats on your banding date as well!!!-Brian
  23. Hey Mallorie, congrats on the band! Don't worry, we'll get through this together! Fortunately today went a bit better for me, don't know if it was all the walking or just finally getting out more of the gas build-up from the operation? Yeah, antacids and gas pills have only helped a little so far....but I will definetely go out and get some Beano tomorrow and try thanks to Miper!!! Take care and I'm sure it will get much better as time goes on.-Brian
