I use dailyplate as well. If you are a paper person, A Dr. Kroll I think makes a journal I bought from Amazon designed specifically for Lapband patients "The Gastric Lapband Companion"--I keep it just to track fills, because unlike the daily plate that foods come up when you type them in, this journal is manual so you would have to get the calories, fat, protein etc from somewhere else, then record. It was just easier to do it online!

Surprises during or after surgery??
shadst8 replied to fhce13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The same thing happened to me--was six weeks out on 2/25--finally could get a fill--did not happen--go back to do it under a floroscope on Mar 22nd--I did get an earlier appointment, but have to go out of town twice before then, so I did not want to have the fill and problems while being out of town! Despite that, I am surprised at my will-power--I eat a max of 1200 calories even though I have no fill yet and no restriction and I have lost--very slowly and more inches than pounds, but I'll take it:smile2: -
Same here--sunrise orange and fruit punch are staples, especially with my protein shots.

Restriction, my friend? You ROCK!

How to get enough protein in?
shadst8 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try adding vanilla or unflavored protein to yogurt or pudding and to water--also protein shots in water. -
ideas for Mayo substitute
shadst8 replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto--I like Light miracle whip, but with the little amount I use, I do regular mayo, butter, etc if it is around. -
Aftering being banded, how much weight did you loose until the first fill??
shadst8 replied to mears06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 30lbs from intial consultation and pre-op diet, then 20lbs on the pre-op diet and 19lbs before fill (filled delayed to 8wks post-op--lost no weight on weeks 3 and 4 either -
I use a series called The firm "Transfirmation"--they guarantee results after 10 workouts--before the band I started using--without even watching as hard as I do now what I ate, after 10 workouts, I had dropped six pounds. :thumbup:The website is firmdirect.com. It came with four tapes and a set of weights. I agree with another poster on Taebo--like those tapes too.

Worried about the future
shadst8 replied to Bree99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hard time getting in all my Protein and veggies. Someone suggested up here the Morning Star veggie line. I have been eating their burgers, chicken, and ribs--really tender and moist and like real meat--you get veggies and protein in--a burger last night was 17--topped with cheese added more--toasted that new wheat flat bread by arnold--very thin has 4 grams of protein--sometimes add little chilli to get more protein. I also make one of my Snacks a shake or sometimes my breakfast--never been a big Breakfast eater, so a shake sometimes does the trick. I put unflavored protein or vanilla protein mix in puddings, yogurt, and oatmeal to give them more protein. I now most days hit 80 and sometimes more. Hope this helps? -
B-Oh Yeah protein drink L-baked chicken thigh and tossed salad with a few pieces of chicken on the salad s-protein bar and banana D-Morning star veggie burger, Arnold whole-wheat fat roll, fat-free cheese, tablespoon of leftover chilli

Wierd/Chinese Food/Water "help"
shadst8 replied to prtygirl79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may want to try egg foo young if they have it. Not the most healthy, but is very mushy with protein -
I actually take a vitamin by Opti-source you get at Walgreens--they are designed for bariatric patients. They are chewable and taste pretty much like an orange sweettart candy. I only have to take 2, 1 in the am, and 1 in the Pm. I also take a Vitamin D because I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency way before banding--it is not chewable, but small enough to get down. I am going to start B-12 so I can increase energy for workouts!!

Help! How do you use your tool? Feedback needed, please
shadst8 replied to atgoalgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1) Which of the things I've learned about how to use my tool work for you? having a plan 2) Which don't work for you? staying close to the surgeon--he has a lapband as well, but I actually rely more on his nurse for support who has had lap-band surgery but has gained weight back. I need to communicate with him more I suppose 3) Is there anything on this list that your surgeon would object to? There is nothing I think that my surgeon would object o -

For me, it used to be about 15 but with me loosing inches it has allowed me to get in some sizes without loosing 15 -

Newly banded with a question
shadst8 replied to Elation's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is tempting to stray, but there is a reason they progress you--at some point you have to eat like a normal person. Your body with so few calories and weight loss is holding on to everything--mine did the same. Don't worry and try to force it to lose weight fast--you will start losing again. -
First fill, turned out to be no fill
shadst8 replied to shadst8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh--far as three weeks--I have called this morning before they even opened and left a message--waiting to hear back from them!!! -
First fill, turned out to be no fill
shadst8 replied to shadst8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trust me I am very pushy--my surgeon was the one giving the fill--Thursdays is his surgery day because he does all his surgeries in a hospital in another town--they squeezed my fill-in between his surgery because obviously I was not trying to wait pass my six weeks. Until you experience the pain of that when your port is is awkwardly turned and deep , you would understand why at that moment I wanted to leave and not capable of walking to any radiology--it hurt more than the surgery pain-I slept on the couch. By that time, he used some term like it is starting to adeema? My guess is swelling around it--my stomach is so swollen to day on that side -
Morons getting on my nerves!
shadst8 replied to DizzyLizzy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having experienced where my boss announced the surgery during a faculty meeting that I did not attend, I feel your pain of having to deal with different responses to the news...people do not understand it is a personal journey. However, you cannot change who knows, just how you deal with it. So, I try to use moments to educate people and when I don't want to talk about it--I don't. -
Congratulations!!!! As a person who, started out over 60, this is a great accomplishment. Working hard to be in the 40's by Easter.
