banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
shadst8 replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been following the thread and decided to post. I am fairly new, so I will not have tons of advice, but thanks to everyone with great advice and support. When I have a question--I come to this thread first. Got my answer about weight lifting and muscles--thanks BetsyB. -
am I eating enough? or do I need a fill?
shadst8 replied to kathyNH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree. I get up at around 5:45, but I do not eat my breakfast until at least 8:30. I usually sip on Water until about 7:30. I find that I am usually not very hungry until lunch time--I have very little restriction now btw. -
What's the problem with getting enough water?
shadst8 replied to HAL380's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, before my first fill, I could get in the water. Now, I have to drink much slower or my chest tightens and hurts, so now getting it down really has to be planned. -
Easter Challenge Anyone?
shadst8 replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

First fill, turned out to be no fill
shadst8 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for my first fill--very glad it was here as you know how hard it is before the first fill--I have been summoning willpower from the heavens and have stuck to everything--no cheating. Although I knew I might achieve restriction this time around, at least I would be one fill closer. Well, I get there. My doctor uses an ultrasound to mark where the port is. He marks, numbs me and I am thinking so far so good. Well, the port was so deep and awkward to get to, he could not do the fill!:smile2: He poke and prodded and numbed me three times, but nothing but pain. I now have to go back in three weeks (would have been four weeks for a 2nd fill, so he moved it to three--geesh, thanks). He hopes with more weight loss it will pop up better or he will do it florouscopicly (sp?)I am so bummed out. -
I just received all my bills. The radiologist, hospital, and the anesthesiologist sent them. They total 3000--was not prepared that I would have to pay that much out of pocket!:tt1: Yes, it would have been wonderful for some to say oh this amount is not covered!

First fill, turned out to be no fill
shadst8 replied to shadst8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually just got it Monday. I was able to get a appointment the following week, but I had to change back to this Monday because I had to go out of town twice--I did not want to be out of town if I had problems. He was able to access without flouro Monday after a lot pressing and feeling. He says the more weight I loose it will shift. He was proud because I had loss enough that he could feel it just fine, but it is awkwardly pointed and hard to see on the ultrasound (he uses ultrasound to locate and then marks it with a pen). Still was kind of sore from all the pressure applied, but nothing like last time and I got my fill!:tt1: Thanks for asking -
Goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHat could you eat after first fill?
shadst8 replied to beachbum112's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just had my first fill Monday. I had to do two day liquids, two day pureed/mushies. I am back to regular food today. I am eating the same, but I can say I am less hungry than before the fill. I have eaten today really because it was time. -
Easter Challenge Anyone?

Let's talk about 'snacking'
shadst8 replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have a protein shake as a snack, unless I have one to replace my breakfast--never been much of a breakfast eater. My NUT allows snacks, but usually those snacks with protein. Does not encouraging snacking on anything else! -
Easter Challenge Anyone?
shadst8 replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only two pounds from Easter goal. I hope to exceed, but I take 10 in five weeks! -
corn or flour tortillas???
shadst8 replied to dontgoggilme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use wheat or corn as well, but I can get down flour okay if I chew--I like baking them to make chips--easier to get down as they are not as doughy. -
Thank you--what an inspiration to us all. Congrats on your success and taking your life back!

Fills Without Fluoroscopy - Dangerous?
shadst8 replied to Drasan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. Just had my first fill today. My port is deep and awkward and he thought we may have to do if under a fluroscope, but he was able to access without it. -

What was your "That's it" Moment?
shadst8 replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine moment was after the death of my father. He was not obese, but he did not take care of himself--died of three aneurysms. My mother is the same--obese with sleep apnea, congestive heart failure, medicine induced diabetes, arthritis, and osteoporosis (has a degenerative disc in her back--great pain). After being put on BP meds and my doc saying I was pre-diabetic, that confirmed it for me because I was heading in that direction. -
Plateaued but seem to be losing inches
shadst8 replied to beachbum112's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
same here--I have lost about 18 since surgery--but my clothes are fitting differently. Unfortunately could not find the tape measure to get my measurements pre-op, so I have no way of gauging how many inches -
Potassium or get your Vitamin D level checked

shadst8 replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Went for my 1st fill...Doc couldn't find the port hole!!!
shadst8 replied to LessofLex's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same thing happened to me--but because I am scheduled to go out of town so much this month I rescheduled--so I kept the original apointment that made me wait three weeks or I would have had it last week--so 2 mths post-op Sunday, and no fill yet until 3/22. -

shadst8 replied to pas4mykids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do, but lately I have being doing the veggie burger made by morning star, so if I do get to a point that I cannot eat beef hamburgers, it is a nice, moist substitute
