Can Anyone Share Their Flipped Lap Band Port Experience With Me?
shadst8 replied to ms.lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port flipped about 6mnths after my intial surgery n Jan 2010. My surgeon would flip it manually. My surgeon left, and I got a new surgeon who did port revision surgery--he flipped up and moved it to a more accessible area. I was unfilled for the surgery. Like another OP said, my weight loss slowed down some. Hope everything works out okay for you. -
Yes my first fill was exactly like that, maybe worse. I remember the pain being so bad I could barely walked after he stuck and pressed. Was told the same thing to come back in 4 weeks hoping that more weight loss would help access. The second fill after much poking and prodding--eventually worked. Long story short--port flipped because was in awkward place--revision surgery in January when I switched to a new surgeon, but went months before switch with flipped port and doctor flipping it manually.

When do you think I will be in a size 14?
shadst8 replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry--I was close to your size when I started and I stayed in the same size clothes for awhile, just more loose--then I woke one week everything was falling off me. I was a 30/32 bottom, 26/28 top & bottom and nowI wear 18/20 bottom, and 14/16 top. As I exercised I loss more inches and made me fit into smaller sizes even when the scale does not show it. -
I have tons of clothes in sizes 22-28 to give away. Planning to take them to goodwill if not takers by June 23 I am in desparate need of summer clothing. Tops 14/16 Capris or bermuda shorts 20 or 22 (if they are linen) Dresses or skirts 18/20.

How to Reduce Post-Banding Flatulence?
shadst8 replied to abraxasbear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol funny but common problem. I keep chewable Gas X with me at all times. I just think I will be thinner, but noone will want to be around me lol -
I am not weighing until the end of the challenge. Congrats to everyone's weight loss. I hope to meeting the goal. I am not weighing until the end because of my addiction to the scale, daily several times. I will go back to weekly for the July 4th Challenge--my addiction is under control now:) Forced me to remember my goal--to get physically fit and not just "skinny"

Hi mattie--get your Vitamin D level checked to see if you are possibly Vitamin D deficient--that will make you extremely tired/fatigued as well.
-
I too gain 7lbs of water weight--I have since the start of my period. It takes me a couple of days, then I am back to normal. Sometimes I will do mostly shakes all day at the end of TOM to speed the process up.

2011 - banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
shadst8 replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't have time to fully catch up, but thanks for the chuckle Melody and HB. I so can attest to my "girls" hanging. I told my Zumba instructor who sells Zumba exercise clothing that I am at the point I can probably breast feed my own self, so I need support! -

Okay been away for awhile. I don't think I can catch up but will take a quick stab at it: congrats to Karen, welcome to Vicky, glad things went okay Elcee with your son, Melody thanks for the article, sorry about your dad Derby and the break-in but I am glad they left you and your hubby in tack, Denise glad you have a job and hang in there with your MIL. Okay if I missed some folks, sorry In the band world, my band Phil has gotten suddenly tight the last two days and it is not PMS so I do not know what is going on. Got stuck--I never get stuck unless I am on my period, but just out of the blue, stuck or pain in my shoulder. Thanks to the hectic schedule and three conferences out of time, exercise and eating way off. Slow week and Spring break coming, so may I can get back to a routine. Really stressed at work. Tons of paperwork due. Pending budget cuts has things in an uproar. I am dreading, if things are as bad as they projecting, having to look in my young teachers' faces and tell them they have no job. I have not been overeating but underrating, which for me, is just as bad--skipping Breakfast, lunch, or both at work and not exercising, four hours of sleep. I have to get back to me so kicks in the rear are deserved from you my fellow bandsters. -
Jealousy over weight loss
shadst8 replied to neenee717's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure I have people who are not genuinely happy for me, but the people who are my true friends are very supportive. You said it best--they have done you a favor!!! Keep doing you! -
What do you do when Aunt Flow comes to town?
shadst8 replied to Lizzy Fu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto to what everyone else. We are not on a diet--indulging in the few extra calories does not make me feel like I had a setback. I am the opposite--right before my period, I eat like crazy and want crave things like chocolate or other sweets I normally do not. During I become tighter and cannot eat. Most of my stuck episodes happened during my period where I don't realize how tight I am. Don't stress--I work out a little extra to compensate or I do a sugar-free cookie or piece of chocolate to help sometimes, but other times, I feel no guilt if I indulge in the real deal. -
I drink my water, and eat more nuts and fiber--but still have problems as well constantly that has caused me much pain. I like everyone else, once a in awhile take Milk of Magnesia to help, but like another poster said, I try not to do this that often so that my body can try to function on it's own.

Hey everyone I have been out-of-town all last week, so no time to post. I will briefly try to catch up Denise--sorry hubby wasn't have a great cruise, but it sounds like cruising around the island is fun. Not gaining weight=great job. BobbieND--*Kick* Okay there's your kick . However sounds like your attitude is always good--you're a trooper Melody--hope they do the surgery--I would hate for you to build up to it and then have to cancel:) Maybe the band tightening is related to stress of being sick and the pain? I don't know. Bands sure don't come with a user manual--I guess they can't because you'd be making a million of them for just one band. Elcee--keep on posting. Those who have not reached our goal always need the moral support and most importantly, you are still a bandster. Crystl--congrats on a new job--good for you for waving the BS bye-bye As for me--worst time of year until the end of June. Budgets cuts looming, upcoming end-of-year assessments, etc have my staff ueasy--ugh. Telling people they may have a job is not going to be fun. Oh well it comes with the territory--putting my big girl drawers on At conferences all week, and did not much exercise in at all--I didn't even get on the scale today figuring why rub salt in the wound--I am buckling back down and doing Atkins this week and then back up to 40 carbs a day--I have had to accept the fact my body loves carbs and I just cannot eat them and maintain consistent weight loss (Hi my name is Shammah and I am a carb addict)--when I get to my goal then I can up them.
