APPROVED!!! yay! how long were you out of work/school?
jalivia2 replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 2 weeks off, and would definitely do it again. I didn't have a lot of gas pain, but my port incision was at the base of my bra line so I couldn't wear one. Also, I just felt very week some days. -
Vomiting 2 days post op

I had a similar problem. Turns out I was having reactions to the anesthesia. -
I don't recall any swelling. You may want to check with your dr just to make sure.

April Bandster Bunnies - where are you?
jalivia2 replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still here and doing well. My weight is coming off slowly compared to many of the rest of you, but I'm still averaging around 1.7lbs per week! Way better than I ever did by myself! -
I'm planning on giving most of mine to Goodwill. I will keep a few of my favorite pieces in order to make a quilt.

Only tell everyone what you feel comfortable telling them. Of course, HR will require the proper documentation, but you don't have to tell you boss. I took 2 weeks off after surgery. I probably could have gone back after one week, but I was definitely grateful to have that extra week to adjust.

Stitches, Staples or Glue?
jalivia2 replied to merrywait's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had stitches...but they dissolved on their own. I guess that's the best of both worlds! -
What did you do in preparation for surgery? (kind of personal)
jalivia2 replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Admittedly I did do a little trimming, but nothing major. I didn't worry at all about the dr seeing me naked because I wasn't conscious for it anyway. The first thing I remember from waking up after surgery was still having the oxygen mask on, but not being able to lift my arms to move it off of my face. That passed quickly. Once the recovery nurse noticed that I was awake, she started asking me question and also asked me how much pain I was in. She then gave me a shot of painkillers. It really wasn't bad at all, but it can be stressful if you mind is running wild on the days right before surgery. -
What did you tell your employer & co-workers?
jalivia2 replied to sara31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only tell everyone as much as you are comfortable sharing. I told my boss and the co-workers that I am close to. My boss told EVERYONE else. -

Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?

I'm in! I'd like to lose 40lbs by then! -
I agree with Mrs. Plumpy. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I am always "tooting my horn"

I don't know what state you're in, but I received my approval from BCBS of TX is 2 days. However, they do require that you have coverage with them for 2 years before they will cover any WLS.

Can you call and find out what your insurance requires?
jalivia2 replied to spoiltmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's odd. I was able to call BCBS and find out exactly what they required before I even talked to a surgeon.
