I had surgery on a Wednesday & returned the next Wednesday with no problems. I probably could have gone back on Monday but I had already planned on a week. I am on my feet all day & I didn't have any problems. The first 2 days were the worst for me. I was fine by the weekend.

yes- I was self pay & my doctor was sure to tell me that if something happened I would have to pay out of pocket to fix it.

I went out last night to our favorite fish place. I ordered the same thing I have ordered for several years. Blackened Snapper. It comes with hush puppies, slaw, & potato. I asked for no potato. I had 1 hush puppy, 1 bite of slaw, & maybe 1/4 of the fish. I brought the rest home to eat over the next few days. This was my first experience out & all in all it was a good one!

I really like Walking with Warriors! We are all warriors. We each have our own battles that we are trying to overcome. Let's do this and rack up some miles.

Hello I was banded on the 30th. I am feeling pretty good today. My gas left yesterday but I had terrible cramps! I started my period the 31st! So I pretty much stayed in a ball on the couch with my heating pad. Today is a new day though. I am ready to get out of the house. I'm not sure what I want to do yet but I definately want to get out of the house! I hope everyone is feeling better today -

How long does the gas pain last?

I made it through surgery!! My surgery was scheduled for 1:00, everything went great. I do have some pain around my incisions but other than that I feel good. I did laps around the floor I was on once I was able to get up. I am feeling good - all in all. I will say I have had 2 c sections & my gallbladder out & I feel better right now than I did with either of these. Now the fun part begins!

Congratulations on making it 1 year!

No I didn't have to be at the hospital until 11:00 (surgury was schedule for 1:00). I was called right back once I got there. There was about a 30 minute delay with surgery but my husband got to stay with me through that time. My doctor came out & said the person on front of me was hard to put to sleep so that put them behind. All & all it was very smooth. I left the hospital at 6:00. So I was there 7 hours.

I am excited to see this post. I am being banded tomorrow!! I have a # goal however my main goal is to be able to run a 5K by June. That's 6 months- I think that is reasonable. I am athletic at 265 so I think this is an attainable goal. Looking forward to coming alongside the group to reach this goal.

My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday & I have been fully prepared to be a self pay the whole time. I believed it was an exclusion from my policy. I just found out by letter yesterday that they ARE paying for my surgery! You know I have been second guessing getting the band but when I got the letter, I am more sure than ever this is what I am supposed to do!!! God is so good!! He does more than I could ever expect!

I start semi liquids tomorrow (2 liquid meals & 1 regular meal) then on Tuesday clear liquids. My surgery is Wednesday 12/30. I am nervous about it but I'm glas it's not 7-10 days of liquids. I wonder why this varies from doctor to doctor.

Kim - I totally understand about being discreet. What area are you in? Maybe there is someone on here who is close by.

Mine was a few weeks ago & was more like sitting down with an old friend. He told me stories of patients with the band. We discussed my weight history but we really just laughed. I was scared in the beginning but it was really a good experience. I start liquids tomorrow & Wednesday I get my band!!! Good luck on your journey!

I am totally ignorant when it comes to protein. I am scheduled for surgery next Wednesday & I know protein is supposed to help you heal but I know NOTHING about protein. Which is best- powder, premade shakes, pills??? I am so confused! Anyone have any suggestions? Please help

My Dr preop diet is 1 day of liquids & fasting after midnight. I am planning on 3 days of semi liquids & trying to beef up my protein before Wednesday. I am trying to take it easy on holiday meals. Saturday is the last one (I hope)! So beginning Sunday I am planning on liquids for 2 meals & 1 low fat meal high protein meal. Does that sound ok?? I really haven't been given any preop diet other than the day before. I was just told I need to loose 3 pounds before the day of surgery. I think I am down 10 right now. Really unsure but thankful for the forum!

I am having surgery 12/30. Let's stay in touch. I just got my date on Friday. I am so excited but nervous too. I hear all of the success stories & I think I hope that all goes smoothly for me also but I have that voice in my head that says "you can't do this, you can't hack it" But then I see the me I want to be in my head..... surely I can - I know I can! It's crazy what a range of emotions you have on top of everything else. If you want a buddy or maybe several of us could buddy together. Good luck on this new journey!
