    I'm here to help...

Hello everyone, I am struggling to keep food down today. Even my protein shake took forever to get down. I think tommorrow I will stick with the shakes and give my tummy a rest. I really am following my doctor's instructions. I wonder if all his patients have trouble like this. Just getting frustrated today.

    I'm here to help...

Yes, I do get stressed eatting with others. I have always been that way. I wonder what people are thinking about the food on my plate, do they think I am pigging out? I hate when people make a comment about what I am eatting. Even more so now that I have the band. I feel like I am surrounded by food police. I have a bit of paranoia as part of my mental issues. It just plays on my insecurities. Thanks Charlene and Apples2 Your right about the trapped gas. I feel it almost everytime I eat. And yes it is usually the first bite that gets me. I was doing so well guess I got careless.

    I'm here to help...

Good Morning Ladies, I have been really good the past few days and it paid off. I lost another 3 pounds. My doc has cleared me for solids again. Had a little hiccup yesterday. I vomited at lunch time. I am not really sure why I was eatting something that was pretty soft. Then at dinner I ate 2 bites and got some pain in my chest so I just stopped. I think dinner may have been over cooked. Is it harder to get meat down if it is a little burnt? I am wondering if my pouch was just irritated. Hope you all have a great day.

    Carb Coma...

I hate when I get in that mode/mood. Sometimes I just throw stuff away to keep it from haunting me. I have never tried veggie thins but I do have a box of wheat thins that have been in the cabinet since October. I have found that when I do give in to that stuff it is not as satisfying as I expected. Good luck!

    Eating in college

I am in college too. It's about an hour drive from my house. I can't just run home and have lunch. I took protein shakes when I was on full liquids. Now I take some sandwich meat and string cheese, salad. My doc has me on low carb. I also carry some propel packets in my purse. I can buy a water and pour in the packet for a little flavor. I was banded 1-4-10 and returned to school 1-11-10. I think I had plenty of time to recoup. I do have a rolling bag now though. I use it because of lifting restrictions. My books have gotten to be too heavy anyway. Good luck in school and with the band.
  7. I am having the same probloem at night. I am getting hungry about 4 in the afternoon and don't eat dinner till 7 when my family gets home. I pushed back my lunch time till 1:30 or 2:00 to try to make it till dinner. My doc was not happy that I had only lost a little bit of weight on my first week post op visit. He asked me "Is it fair to say you screwed up?". I had blown it. I made some really milky mashed potatoes a couple times and it slowed my weight loss. We talked about it frankly but respectfully. Just remember you are both adults and you have the same goal. After the discussion with my doc he told me how much weight he expected me to lose by my next visit. I think that was great. It gives me an idea of where I should be. He also told me not to expect this to be a perfect journey, just don't give up. We will have some missed goals sometimes. What we are after is the end result. Don't fret. Good luck!

    liquid diet

I also had sugar free popsicles. It doesn't sound like much I know but just remember it's temporary. I wasn't able to have protein shakes right away. Doc said to wait a few days. BUT if your Doc approves go with it.
  9. I actually gained my first week after surgery but that weight just melted off and then some. Congrats on doing such a good job.
  10. You really don't want to be vomiting at this stage so I would get to the doc ASAP. Atleast give him a call. So sorry you are dealing with this.
  11. If it is not too expensive for you to go in for a visit, I would go in anyway and talk to the doc about how your feeling. Get his professional opinion. Maybe you already have some fluid in your band? Congrats though on doing so well.

    Weighing Yourself?

I also weigh myself every morning before I eat. I didn't do this until my weight started going down. I am so excited every morning to see I am not 260 anymore. If it goes up I do get upset because I don't want to gain back one single pound I have lost. It just motivates me to keep on track the next few days. I do consider the doc's office scale the "official" weight. It reads a couple pounds higher than mine but almost 10 pounds higher than my wii. The thing I like about the wii though is there is a graph that shows my weight falling. It's great.
  13. Hey, I am just responding to your question on my BLOG. I am down eight pounds since surgery and my doc expects another 4 by my first fill.Which is 2.5 weeks away. i have been at a stand still this week. I feel the swelling has gone down and with out restriction. I am hungry all the time. How are you doing?

    Last minute doubts?

Trust yourself and the decision you made. I had doubts too. I held on to the fact that I made my decision when I was in my right mind and not scared of the impending surgery. Even after the surgery I thought "What have I done to myself?" Now, 2 weeks later, I am thrilled I did it. I had to put the brakes on my eatting somehow and this is a great tool to assist me. I was out of control. Now I feel as though I have taken the first steps to regaining control. Good luck!
  15. Yes, It is wonderful to get enccouragement from the people who watch my vlog. It's exciting to see how many people out there really care.

    Hi...new to LapbandTalk

Congrats on your success. I love this site. It has been so helpful and inspirational. I was banded 2 weeks ago. I have lost 8 so far but am so hungry right now. I have managed to stick to it today. The past few days have been tough but I am determined not to gain any back.
  17. I keep a blog so I can watch my progress and so others who are considering it can see what to expect. Here is the link to it YouTube - JewelJolyn's Channel Hope you find it helpful.
  18. Don't forget the before pics. I used gas-x strips too. They helped partly.
  19. I was riding 7 days post op. The only thing that was uncomfortable was my port. It is right above my belly button and my pants button was pushing on it. I just pulled my pants up high so they weren't touching and climbed on. It was a great ride but not 400 miles more like 150. I think you could do it. As long as your off pain meds and I was by then.

    I'm here to help...

The bandages came off today. The scars look like they are gonna be small and well hidden. When I took the bandage off my belly button I got this really pungent smell. Apparently my button has been full of drainage that has just dried up in there. I had to get a shower ASAP. Did this happen to ya'll? Yuck. I also tried cleaning it gently with a Qtip. Added some neosporin. My Pants are starting to fit really loose. I can tell I am gonna need a good belt for this journey. SO far today I have stuck to it. The evening is the worse though. Sorry guys, I am pretty chatty today.

    I'm here to help...

I still plan to meet ya'll in orlando on friday during your stay. My son will be in school and I will be out so it is the best day I can come. Over the weekend hubby works and I gotta be with my son. So friday is the best day for me. I can't wait to met everyone. it is great to know there are people out there who have been in my shoes and survived. Today is 2 weeks post op for me. Doc says I can get back to eatting regularly tommorrow. Other than carbs. I think eatting a salad with my meal would help it stay with me longer. I seem to have associated studying with eatting. Everytime I sit at my desk to read for school I get hungry. I may have to change where I study.Even though I want food I don't feel WOW when I eat it. I feel nothing but guilt if I give in so I am gonna stop doing it. It's not worth being fat and guilty.

Jodi, is your stomach bug called H. Pylori? Glad they found that so they can kill it. I hope it hasn't made you sick. I just learned about how they discovered it in microbiology. Pretty intresting but gross sometimes. I wouldn't worry about the psych eval. I have had a couple therapist and they have all been awesome and understanding. I always feel comfortable enough to be frank too. Congrats on starting you journey. Other ladies, I am doing good still hungry but trying to eat more earlier so I don't get ravaged at night. I had eggs for breakfast, chicken for lunch, and shrimp for dinner. I also snacked on cheese, chicken and some other things that I am not suppose to have. Which explains why my weight hasn't gone down recently. I gotta get over this hump though. I am glad to of lost 20 pounds but I don't want to stop there. I gotta get back on track. I feel like I am struggling the same as in Nov when I first started. Doc says these next few weeks are the best predictor of how I will do with the band and I feel like right now I am failing. I have put too much into this to fail at it so despite my huger I am gonna stick to the rules today. I have a doc appt this morning so I gotta go but do apreciate all your encouragement.

    Hi!

Jennifer, You are so right. They expect me to be skinny already. I am still recovering from surgery. I have lost 8 pounds. I feel people are asking because they are trying to see how good or bad I am. I really don't feel that weight should have any bearing on wether I am good or bad. My Doc and I have put enough pressure on me to lose. I just don't need more judgement. When I first told my MIL she was actually angry. I guess she thought I was being selfish. Now that she is more educated about the procedure she is being more supportive. Finding receipes I can eat and stuff.
  24. I wouldn't worry about it. I think you still have time to do it right and your liver still be ok. If it does concern you give your doc or his nutritionist a call.
