    Introduction

Hi Alice, Welcome to LBT. You are doing great. Congrats on the weight loss. When I first started solids I had a hard time getting use to chewing and taking small bites. I am 6 weeks post op now and haven't been stuck in awhile. You'll get the hang of it.
  2. Congrats on begining your journey. I am 6 weeks post op. I have lost 28 pounds since Nov,09. I just had my first fill. Just found out this morning I lost 3 more pounds this week. I thought for sure I was gonna gain. I had some margaritas for valentines dinner. We celebrated thursday night. I am in Florida and my surgeon is Dr. Cywes. He is frank about things and a little rash but I love him. I have never had a doctor care so much wether or not I lose weight. They always tell me I need to but have never challenged me like he does. I was so nervous to go see him last week because I was unsure of how I did. My scale said I lost 9 pounds but his always reads different. I thought about canceling my appt. Then I decided to put on my "big girl panties" and act like a grown up. I went in to face him and his scale registered a 9 pound loss too. He was so thrilled and really gave me kudos. It was a great spring board for me to continue. Now I realize, he really is the best doc I have had. He really doesn't accept excuses. He has been a great blessing to my life. We are putting an end to my weight problem. It feels so good to see the scale go down, to buy smaller clothes, to have more energy, to look at old pictures and see the change. We have so much to look forward to. If I feel this good now I can't imagine how I will feel when I hit onederland and goal. I hope you are excited.

28 pounds gone, 6 weeks post op

I am so excited, I am actually losing weight. I am using the band and it is working. Since Nov,09 I have lost 28 pounds. Since Jan 4,10 I have lost 16 pounds. That is 2.5 pounds per week. My clothes are getting too big so I am buying a few new things. Some to fit me now and some to fit me next month when I am down another 10-15 pounds. I love shopping and getting new clothes. This is gonna be a great year for me. I am buying things on clearance and that are cheap because I know they will be too big for me again in another month. I had my first fill 2/9/10. It went really well. My doc was very happy with my weight loss so far. He gave me hell at my post op appt because I didn't lose enough. But this one went really well. He had no trouble locating my port. I did forget to ask how much he put in but I don't think that matters much because it is very different for everyone. I am eatting about a cup and a half of food right now but it doesn't stick with me very long. I feel I need to eat more often. I know I need more of a fill but I will have to wait till next month. I can't complain either, it feels great to get on that scale on see I am no longer 260 pounds. I keep looking at old pictures of myself and I can't believe the difference I see in my face. I went this weekend to Orlando FL to meet with some other lapband ladies from LBT. We had a great time. I have learned so much from these ladies in th past 3 months. It was wonderful to meet them and see their successes and struggles. We had so much fun. I wish I could have stayed longer but life is calling, right? I am going to visit my brother in April. I hope he will be surprised by a 40-45 pound loss. He lives across the country from me so I don't see him often. Last time I saw him I believe was october. I was at my highest weight at that time. I also will be flying. I am hoping I will not be crowding out the person sitting next to me. We are also planning a trip to Disney. I want to be down enough by then that I can fit in the rollercoaster and rides. I went to an amusement park in July 09. It took 3 people to get me into one of the seats of a rollercoaster. Hopefully I will be in onederland by then. We are going camping and motorcycling in the mountains in July. I am looking forward to being able to ride longer without the weight. After a few hours I start get alot of pain in my back and butt. I think with the weightloss my hubby and I will both be more comfortable. Right now we are a little squished together and it makes it uncomfortable for him because he can't lean back like he needs too. School is going great. I took the entrance exam for the nursing program and did great. Doing well on my exams. I do have a paper to write this week for my film class ( which I am dreading). I have to find common themes in several movies and write about them. I am thinking about doing it about childrens animated movies and how they appeal to children. I just took a development (psych) class and I think I could put some of that in the paper. Something about why children like animated films and how it works with their development. I don't know alot about films but I do know children and have seen alot of animated movies with my son. I have so much to look foward to expecially now that I have the band.

    I am so scared now

I had doubts pre op too but I believe that's normal. The liquids are only temporary. Post op eatting is not so bad. I don't think. I can eat anything I want right now. I choose not to. I choose to be thin rather than indulge myself over and over. I do treat myself a little but the big prize is really losing weight. I would rather see myself down a pound and in new clothes than to indulge in chocolate or soda. My doc told me they don't yet make a band that gives you an electrical shock when you make a bad choice. The band can help with your portions of some foods but it is ultimately up to me. I have to choose at every meal to use the band. I could eat a huge bowl of ice cream or wash some carbs down my gullit by drinking with my meal. I just follow my docs instructions most the time by eatting low carb, and not drinking with my meal. Once I started seeing the results of my work I was motivated more and more to stick to it. I had lost all thoughts of ever being thin again. I never imagined I could lose 140 pounds until I meet some ladies that had done it with the band. It gave me my hope back. Now I am on my way and soon you will be too. Don't give up on it. You are in one of the most difficult phases of your journey. It is hard but not impossible and it is so worth it. Good luck.
  7. Well I lost 16. Missed my goal by 4 pounds. But I can't complain.
  8. JeweI

    Very concerned....

About 3 weeks post op I had a similar situation. I ate something that got stuck and it took me a few days before I could get solid food down again. I ended up going back to liquids for a day and then the following day things went back to normal. It would be a good idea for you to call your doc on monday(or tuesday if he is closed). Just to get his take on it. He has way more experience then I have. Don't get to stressed about it. Stress can make your band tighter too. Good luck.

    50 lbs to Lose

A few lapband vets have told me that when their weight stalled they upped their Protein intake for a few days and that helpped them break their platue. Before my band I was also told I was not eatting enough. I couldn't lose the weight. Then I met my surgeon and he put me on low carb. I lost 18 pounds in 2 months pre-op. That was only with 2 days of Clear liquids. It does knock the weight off. This is just what works for me. You may want to try it for a week or so to see what happens. My MIL tried it and lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks. I think that was great but she wasn't satisfied with it so she stopped. Don't be so hard on yourself. It will take time and you have done so well. Losing 40 pounds is awesome. In the time you lost 40 I have lost 28. It took me about a year and a half to lose my baby weight when my son was born. I had gained 65 pounds. Congratulations on you new little ones.

We would love to have everyone who can come next year be there. I can't believe how awesome it was to meet the seasoned lapband vets. Next year I will be a vet too. It was so great for me as a newbie to see how everyone makes the band work for them. Ladies start saving now, I am. I don't want to miss out.

Updated my Avatar. Also posing in new clothes. I was so excited today cause walmart was having a great clearance. I got a bunch of new tops for 5 dollars a pieace and one top was .11 cents. The cashier made a mistake and couldn't fix it so she just gave it to me for .11 cents instead of 11 dollars. I got some tops that fit now and some for when I lose a tad bit more. I love shopping and clothes. Exspecially ones that aren't Just my size. I am thankful for just my size but so much more greatful I will be in more trendy clothes. Can't wait to get to my goal.

Ok I am finally back on LBT. Sandy, Congrats on hitting onederland. It is such and inspiration to see people working it with the band. Happy birthday. Hubby and I went to Orlando thursday and had lots of fun. He woke up with a little hangover on friday morning. I told him he was toasted but he insisted he was fine. Oh well. Then I met up with apples on friday morning. As soon as I saw her I knew it was her. She looks just like I imagined and has such a sweet smile. We talked for awhile because Peas and Mrs. Bubba were shopping. Then they arrived with Nels. He is a great little boy. Even though he was playing and we were talking he didn't interupt us at all. Then Indio, Octillo, and JBFlorida arrived. Indo looks just like I thought too. Apparently I need to post a more current picture because she didn't recognize me. I look way different without that 25 pounds I lost. It was so wonderful to meet people that have the band and at all different stages. What an encouragement they were to me. Everyone's working the band but we have all tailored our life to what works best for us. I think it was great for my husband to hear some of what we were talking about. Thin people just don't understand that our weight is what has defined us but that we are trying to change that. We left about 4 and didn't make it home til 10. It took us 2 hours to get there yet 6 hours to get home because we hit rush hour. I wish I could have stayed longer but I will treasure the time we had.

Wow, Just readin the lasrt 4 pages this morning I have had a rollercoaster of emotions. Laura, so sorry about your pup. I know how hard it can be. We want to do everything for them but vet bills are just expensive. Great,Wish things had worked out for you to come. I would have loved to meet you. You are such an encouragement. Janet and Eva, Sooo Glad things worked out. I thought our weekend was falling apart but I am happy to see it hasn't totally. I am all packed. Gotta go to class today (I have an exam) but once hubby gets off work we will be headed out. It is a 2.5 hour drive so we should be at about 9:00 or 9:30. My Husband asked me to bring the blender so we can make some drinks. I am too excited I cannot focus on school. As mickey mouse says "see ya real soon".

Don't even know what I am gonna bring cause I don't really know what fits anymore. Gotta pack for hubby too. Men, why can't he remember to pack socks and underwear. lol. Well I go too much to do so I will SEE ya'll later.

I will be arriving thursday nite real late. So I will probably meet up with yall on Friday morning. My husband is coming but my Son is staying with my inlaws. We are debating right now on riding the motorcycle. I didn't want to bring it up so I was waiting for my husband to realize it might not be the best riding weather. We have been in worse but didn't really enjoy ourselves. I wore my new jeans to school today. Also pulled out a shirt I outgrew. It felt kinda akward not being hidden behind my baggy clothes. I am starting to see my curves again instead of just being a big circle. It sure did feel good though looking in the mirror knowing I am gonna be thin again.

Great, Save some of that shopping for Florida. I think it is so great you spend time with your grandma. Peas, My hubby and I will be leaving friday night so don't worry about counting us in the head count for moon fish. We have special luggage that hooks on the passenger seat of our motorcycle. Hopefully hubby knows where the rain cover is for it. he is gonna spend tommorrow changing the oil on it and getting a new rear tire. Hopefully he will still be able to ride after his doc appt. he is having alot of foot pain and thinks his foot may be broken. There is no way he can shift gears with a cast on. I have been telling him I should learn how to drive that thing just in case but he is afraid I will mess it up. i tried driving our older smaller motorcycle but my legs were too short so no driving motorcycles for me. I saw a lady on a sport bike yesterday. I have decided thats the kind I want. I think once I lose the weight I would look totally hot on one. Plus it is light weight and smaller. Maybe it should be a graduation gift?hmmm.

1day, So sorry things haven't been working out for you to come hang with us. I wish everyone could come. Sparkle, Thanks for the Kudos. My first fill today went really well. I weighed in at a loss of 9 pounds. The doctor was just singing my praises. It has only been 3 weeks since my last appt. So, I lost 3 pounds per week. I have been stuck at 235 for awhile now, though. So, hopefully this fill will get me moving again. It did hurt but not as bad as some other things I have experienced. At first he filled me till I couldn't get Water down, Then he backed it off just until the water drained. He does that with all his patients. To give us a sense of being stuck. I told him I was gonna throw up and he backed it off. It is starting to get on my nerves thought hat he is extremly late for every appt I have. I was late to class today because of it. All my clothes are getting big and making me look sloppy. So, after class today I stopped and got some new, smaller jeans. They are cheap clearance clothes but I fiquered I will only be wearing them a few weeks anyway. Who wants to buy expensive clothes every month during this proccess. Once I reach goal I will definatly get some clothes that are gonna last even if they are pricier. It seems I went straight from a 20 to a 24 because I don't have any size 22's. I still have my 20 and 18 jeans but they are outta style stone wash. I hate stone wash but my sister gave them to me when she out grew them. I was gaining weight so fast I was thankful for anything that fit. Plus that was before I went through my fashonista awakening. Thanks to What Not To Wear. I can't wait to get some new cute clothes.

Just a quickie, I am headed out the door to have my first fill. I am nervous but excited all at once. He asked me to lose 6 pounds and my scale says I lost 8. Hopefully his scale won't read much differnt. I don't want him to tell me I screwed up again. I am still trying to get the hang of this. Finding the right things to eat at the right time around my school schedule. Then, not eatting myself to death on the weekends. See you soon

I went ahead and booked a room at the Westgate. We stayed there before and had a great time. Plus they have whirlpool baths which my husband loves. Guess I will make it a surprise for him. We are kinda doing it as a valentines thing too.
  23. I told my husband the exact same thing. It looks like I have a third boob. I am 4 weeks out. It really looks like I am just swollen around the port area. Glad to know it will go down eventually.

Thanks for the info on the resort change. I would have been going to the wrong place. I do plan on coming down friday atleast and meeting everyone. I may come down thursday night as hubby wants to take a motorcycle trip down. That depends on the weather too. Is there enough room for both of us? If not I don't mind finding another place for us. Just as long as we get to meet ya'll friday.
