I've been overweight ever since I can remember. I can remember being in elementary school and woofing down five slices of pieces of pizza and my dad telling me to 'slow down' or when I was little telling my mom how excited I was to work school lunch because we were given two pieces of pizza instead of just one. I feel so embarrassed by these series, but my point is to illustrate how food has always been an issue in my life. At my lowest weight I was probably just under 180lbs but I was 18 at the time and had just returned from living abroad. A few years ago I moved home from Europe and the stress of graduating from college and finding a job took their toll. Food, always being my drug of choice and never has abandoned me. I'm 28, and I am a bright, happy and cultured woman with tons of ambition but feel frustrated that my problem with food and my elevated weight is both scaring and hurting me physically. To be on blood pressure meds at 27 is frightening. I have my first appt to consult the doctor on 12/2 and feel strongly that I will probably be getting a lap band.
