    Going nowhere over two months

Hi Everyone.. Sometimes I feel more restricted than other times?? Does this happen to anyone else...? I think finding that perfect fill is the key...not sure Im there yet..but getting better. At four months since surgery, I have lost 24 lbs..pretty slow compared to some..but seems steady..at least. POPPYRED

  6. Thank you for some useful information! This was very helpful in understanding my progression. My surgery was December 10th and my total weight lost of 24 lbs. I've had two fills...but after the second fill I had to have a slight unfill. So I'm not at my "sweet spot" yet, andv not losing near as fast as I had hoped!

    Banded 3-5 *Questions*

After you get banded, its a time of healing..I only lost 3-4 lbs till I got filled, after the first fill only 7..now its coming off good since the second fill.. It takes time to get it its best working place. For now its time to heal...it will come off before you know it! I've been alot slower than others on here..but know I'm heading the right way...Hang it there! POPPYRED

    Beer & Basketball

Doctors are so different, mine says no beer, no soda pop! He just explained that it is hard on the band..and that you invested alot into it so take care of it..Im self paid so I want to do anything I can to insure its life. I know that when I went to another seminar with a different Doctor, he said pop and beer wasn't a problem! So I do keep that in mind....but I traded diet pop for tea and I prefer wine anyways! Holy Mother of STUCK!!!!

Yeah, I forgot flour tortillias...those dont work for me either...I've switched to corn and have no trouble with them! Since you've had your band since 2003...maybe you know the answer! I've asked several times on here with no response. Where does the food get stucked..its higher up than where the band is..(it feels like anyhow)...so why doesn't it before banding??? Just soooooooo curious.. Thanks! POPPYRED
  10. Hi, I was wondering when you got banded..? It was December 10th and Ive only lost 20 lbs total...I have had two fills...and one I had to have taken out a bit...I'm definitely eating less but not losing like I had hoped...It is very discouraging at time...Do you get food stuck alot..it has happened alot to me in the past two weeks,...hope to hear from you again. Holy Mother of STUCK!!!!

Hi All, I' ve gotten food stuck several times...and its not like vomiting or anything else I've done before being banding...its better than vomiting in my opinion..but not FUN...hurts bad until it comes up...with Siliva..is the best way I can explain it..when I know its going to happen I head for the bathroom...already embarrassed my self once in a cafe with hubbie..thinking..just coughing in a napkin ..would work..it just kept coming ..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank GOD we were in a private booth where only hubbie seen..but it freaked him out! I think it happens most when Im talking during eating and not concentrating...on chewing, chewing, chewing! I have found out that most Pasta and bread..doesn't work for me...OH and marinated artichoke hearts..that was a real killer! Alot of this is trial and error ..till we learn what we can have....in my experience once you have slimed on it..you don't really want it again..LOL POPPYRed

    Problems after first fill :(

Hi, I had 4cc my first fill and felt fine..but everyone is so different...you may be too tight... I was told swelling shouldnt last more than a few days...I waited almost four and knew something was wrong after the second fill. I would definitely meantion the backing up..feeling. The backing up....I didnt have that...the nurse told me you dont want to be too tight as that is what causes slippage...and she asked me if it hurt worse if I laid down..it didnt...so they didnt Xray for slippage. I know the nurse told me if you didnt eat for at least four hours before a fill that you get a "better" fill ..meaning tighter..more restrictive..but I honestly think me waiting 8 hours before getting filled caused me to be overfilled. I plan on eating a light lunch next time before my fill and I think it will be fine.. Dont be afraid to call your doctor..that is why he is there..to take care of you..good luck and let me know what happens.. POPPYRED

    Problems after first fill :(

Hi Becky, I felt fine after my first fill..and it was great not to feel hungry all the time. This feeling lasted for only two weeks though..then I felt like I was too loose again. but I certainly have an idea how it feels to be near the "sweet spot"...After the surgery did you feel restricted..because of the swelling??? Its the second fill I got that was too much and I really think it was the fact that I hadnt ate all day..and he had me drink Water ..and kept adjusting till two swallows would go down good...which it did. It was the next day that I started feeling too tight and at first just thought it was swelling..then after four days..and it was getting worse I called and he had me come in on that Saturday too unfill a bit and took out some...what I meant by knowing I was too tight...is that water even hurt when it was going down and could barely get it down ..just with little sips....food was even worse...I ate small bites..of mushies..having to wait a long time between bites...it was worse in the morning and evenings than at noon for some reason for me... I feel super now and have lost a couple of pounds this month already but feel like he might of taken too much out now. I am hoping to be filled comfortabally...and be restricted enough to be able to lose 1-2 lbs every week..this has been sooooooooo slow...but its been steady...I guess which is better than I can say Ive done on dieting anyother time without the band... After the scare though, I wanted to stay with this amount till I wasnt so sore..I plan on going back about the middle of April to get another fill..but not sure I want to ever have the amount that I had before...somewhere in between seems to be where I need to be... Im not sure what you mean fill under fluro??? Is this your first fill you are going to have? I wouldnt worry too much about getting overfilled... Im sure he will have you drink water to see what you can tolerate and still have good liquid flow...Hope this helps! POPPYRed

    Problems after first fill :(

I didnt have any problems with my first fill..my second fill I hadnt eaten nothing much that day before by appointment..(a couple bites of yogart than morning). I was filled later in the afternoon and felt fine the rest of the day. It was the next morning, I had to eat very slow and it was hurting going down..by three days I was in more misery ..seemed even tighter so had to go in on a Saturday to meet my doctor. He took about half out of what I had been filled the second time and I feel great now. He said it was up to me when I wanted to go in for another fill. I'm eating and drinking fine now but dont want to be too tight so will probabaly only do very small fills each month now till I get to the soft spot, which is the best place for me. I do think swelling has some effect on the tightness ..because I have better restriction right after a fill that seems to get looser after two weeks or so. ..Like its been said several times here..everyone is so different. Hope this helps someone. POPPYRED
  15. Hello Everyone, I've had food stuck several times..and so far its been mostly at home..but a couple of times it has occured in the cafe...luckily I've made it to the bathroom in time..I can only imagine the embarrassment ..what Im wondering ..is Im confused WHERE it gets stucked...is it where youre banded? It feels farther up...but why wouldnt it happen before you were banded ..if that was the case...Please explain...Thanks Poppyred
  16. I felt the same way!..except Water was even painful...when going down...I just drove four hours to see my doctor..and he unfilled me a bit..I feel wonderful now..if its too tight..its not worth the pain or the chance of slippage...This was my second fill...and I was at fine on the first one..Hope this helps..POPPYRED

    Easter Challenge Anyone?

Hi Leigh, Or others with similar situation.. Could you explain how you were hurting. I've been hurting since by last fill on Tuesday..talked to the nurse twice..I'm four hours away from my doctor. Did you land up getting a bit unfilled..? Or was it swelling that subsided?? Thanks for your help..I'm pretty concerned. Thanks POPPYRED

    a little DiScourAgeD

Dont be discouraged...! Until you get to the best fill for you...it is slow. Im three months since surgery and only lost 18 lbs..but I just got a fill and I imagine that it will be a great month's loss this time. Some people lose alot pre--0p on the special diet..I only lost 2 then but it seems for the most part people lose 50lbs in six months. That's what Im shooting for..Good Luck
  19. Hi. I think its very possible if you stick to the doctors rules. Ive lost 18 lbs in three months since surgery. Good Luck! Poppyred
  20. If you had a band slipped would you know it right away??? or does the doctor do a ultrasound??
  21. Thanks for the comments...4 more days I get filled again..hope this is my "sweet spot"! I was self pay..and I need to make this work...Good Luck, to you as well! We can do this!! POPPYREDE
  22. I was banded on 12/10 and have only lost 14 lbs total!..I have 5 cc in an 11 belt. My first fill was January 14th..I go for another one the first of March. I felt restricted right after for two weeks..and was told that was because of swelling..(that is why they only fill a bit at a time to not overfill when there is some swelling due to the tightning) and when I'm at the best spot..that is how I will feel for the rest of the time. I can't wait to get to that point! I'm hoping this fill will do that..till then I'm hanging in there. I agree its makes you wonder what you are doing wrong when you see people on here loose close to 50lbs by now! I think it has everything to do with getting to the perfect banding. POPPYRED

    My Fabulous New Hummus Recipe

I made this today...I LOVED it..thanks for sharing..I think I'll add the suggested cayenne pepper ..next time --I love hotter foods. Thanks for sharing:thumbup: Poppyred
  25. Hi I was self pay too..and I think that is where alot of the feelings are coming from...its sooooooooooo much money and its easy to feel that its not working fast enough..then comes the point..of thinking I wasnt worth spending that much on myself..I could of remodeled the family bath...then the point of being mad at the doctor.. After I had my surgery and still had the swelling..it was the best time..for once in my life I didnt feel hungry..for that whole two weeks....a bit of food filled me..then I was back to feeling starved again. I have had one fill and am schedule for another one the first of March..I know there is a sweet spot..I was there once. I will be patient as I know when the band is filled correctly for me...then I will be successful again. Please consider keeping your money ..and using it for fills till you get to that point..you will..I assure you...till then alot of emotions you will go through...but you will succeed! good luck!
