I am a 33 year old mother of 2. I hit my all time high weight of 198 lbs after giving birth to my son 2 years ago. I've always struggled with my weight since adolescence and yo-yo dieted. Just about every quick fad or diet I probably tried but my addicton to food was so strong I would give up after a month. i also had a great deal of stress in my life and food was the only way I knew to make it better. At this point I'm getting the jokes or simply painful comments asking when am I due, or how far along are you?. It gets very depressing somedays and in spite of trying to go to the gym, I don't see the change on the scale or the way my clothes fit and i go deeper into a depression. I only prayed that God would give me a tool or simply just take my desire to eat away. I started checking into the lap-band surgery after seeing its success in a few people I know. At this point only my husband and I, and of course my surgeon, know that I plan to go through this. For the past 2 1/2 months I've been going to see a nutritionist monthly to prepare for post-surgery and the new food choices I will have to deal with. I have one more session scheduled before my insurance will authorize my procedure, and I pray that surgery comes soon after. By no means am I looking for a quick fix, but it has been a long struggle for many years. I feel like this is my second chance in life to get it right and keep it off. I really want to do this for me and my family, so they will have a healthier mom and wife.
