Went in to meet with Nurse Practictioner today and she does'nt see anything that indicates a leak. She does not however have an explaination of why I lost 4 cc's over the last year. NP mentioned she was going to present my case at the departmental meeting and have the surgeons review my upper GI, endoscopy and fluoro. The loss of saline was discovered when I went in for an appointment and they always check the saline level. I tried to stay with some lap band serving sizes but admittedly I was making some bad food choices. This would be keeping crackers at my desk for lunch/snacks. Since I work long hours it can be a long time between lunch and dinner. Esp. considering I go to the gym after work. Before my first meeting with the NP I had banished the carbs from my desk. I was a little annoyed that she did not comment on my 9 pound loss since my last appointment 21 days ago. I think that's pretty darn good for someone with no band support. As I mentioned earlier I never stopped my exercising. Image how much I would have gained if I had!

I was swimming preband; since it was the only exercise I could do with my knees. I was allowed back to swimming two weeks after surgery.

After not having insurance that covers the band for a year I finally got insurance that includes bariatrics. I knew I had gained weight but sad reality was it was 40 pounds. Ouch I know. Though please note I do 60 minutes of moderate/intense cardio 7 days a week. At the end of my appointment the nurse pulled out 7 CC's when there should have been 11 CC's. She sent me for an upper GI and the doctor said there was no where near 11 CC's in there (per nurse some saline could be in the tube). The Barium just flowed right through with no restriction. Went for an Endoscopy no erosion. Had a fill under fluroscopy and there is no leak in the port or tube. Doctor did see though that the contrast /saline was pooling in one section of the band. Which he had never seen before. All leaks he has seen have been in the port or tube. Seems like an explanation as to why my band is no longer working if the saline is not evenly distributed around the band. Anyone else have this happen?

Greek yogurt is much more forgiving if you eat too fast. A bagel is a poor choice for a bandster all carbs no protein. And it needs help like butter, cream cheese or jam.

Oh no! Food Stage Confusion!
honk replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just say no to Mac and cheese!!! Uber high fat/cals/carbs; and no protein. -
Salad is a slider for me so I have to be careful about serving size.
-
I was not allowed those until my third week they are mushy not liquids. Liquids are broth and Protein shakes. This period sucks but that's just the way it is.

Sorry I'm going to be a contrarian. A mother who is that concerned about what their child eats would have researched what the child would be fed before committing to that camp. Sounds like this woman was looking for advertising for her group that she founded. Personally I think this kind of behavior is what causes eating disorders. Telling a child certain foods are evil and bad is guaranteed to give them food issues.

Yes chobani has more calories but your portion sizes are larger. If you look carefully Chobani has 6 ounces and most of the others are 5.3. I personally have chobani with protein powder mixed in and some granola everyday for breakfast. I guess it depends on whether you're eating yogurt as a snack or as a meal.

Well I guess the question is what kind of event. What I've been up to walking a 5k maybe not. Are you talking about a graduation or a wedding? Probably my biggest concern is will involve food and will there be something there you can eat or will you feel comfortable bringing your own food. I think setting yourself up to have to eat foods you're not allowed just because you have an event to go to would be a bad precedent.

You can bring your own pulled pork/chicken in BBQ sauce. I don't like the I'm sick route. I would be like " then why are you here if you are contagious?".

Eat foods you are allowed more often; rather than foods not on your list. Good Luck! -

Did anyone NOT have to do the preop diet?
honk replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Technically no. I did loose 50 preop but did not have a 2 week liquid diet.
