  1. Preop I had already been doing an hour of strenuous cardio a day for over a year. My doctor put me on a 500 calorie a day liquid diet; that he planned on me doing for several MONTHS. When I asked how that would affect my work outs he gave me this look "Why would it?" Anyway I did that stupid diet for 5 days and then stopped because I believe I was allergic to the drinks (tingleing in back of throat). I went back to my 2 protein drinks with one low cal protein based meal. So yes he did expect me to continue my workouts on 500 cals a day.

    Help! Can't Eat!

Per my doctor if I can not eat 3 oz of solid protein I am too tight. Go see your doctor asap!
  4. I don't want to come across as mean spirited. Stop eating solids. Your stomach is healing and should not be getting solids. Again this is for your health not me being rude. Being hungry sucks I get that. It would be better for you to have more liquids than to be eating solids at this point. Space out your meals every couple hours to help with both the physical and head hunger.

    Tolerable Foods

I can eat both raw and cooked broccoli.
  6. Buy a digital food scale and measure out your protein (my doctor says 3 oz), then measure perhaps 1/2 cup of veggies.
  7. Yogurt, egg whites (some people have trouble with eggs), mashed potato (no gravy), mashed cauliflower, squash, chili (Wendy's), bbq chicken (KFC, no bun). I would bring ready to drink protein shakes so that you have SOMETHING in the event you are desperate (premier brand from Costco is very good, Muscle Milk Light). Bring some plastic spoons as you can usually find greek yogurt anywhere (including 7/11 or Cumberland Farms) but they may not have spoons.
  8. I would say to drop down perhaps to 1000 calories and up the execise to at least 5 days a week.
  9. I would'nt be to hard on yourself about what you had on Sunday. I listened to a personal trainer for several NFL players on the radio and he said to treat the Super Bowl like a holiday (Christmas or Thanksgiving). Eat on that day but get rid of everything the day after. Think Holiday not Holiweek. As for general ongoing drinking personally I would cut it out. While I know plain alcohol does'nt have fat would you sit down and have 2 snickerbars a couple days a week after working out? Probably not. Alcohol has a lot of calories.

    Last Supper

To me it would depend on whether your doctor told you to stay on liquids until surgery. If so than no don't eat a meal. I had lost my required weight (30 lbs) as well as an additional 20 and was not on a liquid diet. So I did have a small meal for lunch the day before. Please remember many people don't have horror stories of never again being able to eat a favorite food. So I would say why insist on eating pizza or chinese before your weight loss surgery when you will be able to eat it (if you must have it) a month later?
  11. My doctor says 3 oz of solid protein and veggies. If you can't eat 3 oz of protein with out sauce you are too tight.

    New And Have A Question

As long as I am not eating I can gulp water. When I'm at the gym I drink about 1 1/2 liters of water in 1 hour.

    Self Sabotage

I not saying it's easy but this is a will power diet until you get restriction. Took me over 6 months.
  14. I have heard of this hypnotic process before. While I don't think it would work long term there is a lot to be said for the placebo effect.
  15. I am a slow loser but my experience has been similar to your friend (though I did lose 100 pounds PRIOR to surgery so I think that slowed down my loss after surgery). I have only had stuck insidents eating raw carrots to fast and really cheap restaurant bread rolls. So I eat carrots with hummus and don't eat cheap bread. I am at restriction but can eat any food I want. A lot of this journey is mental though so I have to choose NOT to eat candy, bread, pasta, rice. Knock on wood I don't have frothing or Productive Burps. Everyone needs to come up with a food plan that they can live with forever. I try to eat conservative 90-95% of the time. If I want to have cheesecake at a super bowl party though I will. It is after all Super Bowl Sunday Not Super Bowl Week.
  16. Even post op I was weighing my protein not using measuring cups. My doctor says 3 oz of protein either mushie or solid.

    Self Sabotage

    Weight Gaining

Also, never weigh yourself at night! You are guarenteed to be bloated.
  19. Buy a food scale measure out 3 or 4 oz protein. Eat low/non fat veggies say 1/2 cup. When it's gone stop eating. This is a will power diet until restriction. I wish more doctors were honest about that.
  20. My band was practically full at 10.6 cc's before I was at restiction.

    Protein Powder Issues

Hamilton Beech makes a single serving blender that has a travel mug for the mixing container. $15 at Walmart or Target. Works really well crushing ice.
  23. While I tend to feel full for longer during TOM I feel like a bottomless pit when I am eating. All about measuring your food and not taking seconds.

    Fill Question

Six months of fills. This is a journey not a race.

    Protein Powder Issues

You could have gotten a bad container. Bring it back and either ask to exchange or get your money back.
