In a word nothing! Here is a link to their nutritional info: http://www.smoothiefactory.com/pdf/Nutritional_Guide.pdf Even the Protein shakes are high in cals. and have limited protein!

I did not get restriciton until 10.6 cc's in a 11 cc band. My doctor never told me to eat based on measuring cups. Instead he said to measure the solid protein, 3 oz, and eat low fat veggies until full.

Were you banded in Dec 2011? Regardless if you've had a fill you should by now be at the point where you are eating solids. My doctor does not want me getting my calories from liquids. The band is mean to keep you full longer when eating solids. The band will never keep you full on liquids. If you are just consuming liquids that's why you are gaining weight when you do eat solids. Think of Slimfast. Everyone looses weight on Slimfast but as soon as they stop they gain weight. In general I don't think it's possible to gain 5 pounds of fat in one day. My friend made a pretty healthy meal the other day (which is a treat for me because I don't cook), rotisserie pork (stuffed with LOTS of garlic), Greek potatoes (roasted in the oven with olive oil and LOTS of garlic), steamed asparagas. He does season the pork however with a some sort of salt mix. I did not weigh myself yesterday and should not have weight today becasue I knew I would be retaining water in a big way.

How Many Calories On The Post Op Diet?
honk replied to Loneil's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor didn't give me a calories count. During full liquids I had 3, 8oz cups of smooth soup (tomato) 100 cal each, 3 protein shakes 200 cals each, and jello. So around 900 cals. -
Can Someone Please Explain How This $&)(;:/ Band Helps You Lose Weight?!?!
honk replied to onmyway11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did not get restriction until 10.6 CC's in a 11 CC band. If you eat 3 oz of solid protein and veggies how long do you go before you are hungry? -
1 Wk Post Op And I've Already Cheated Several Times.....
honk replied to ktmoss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In general I would say 400 calories in a drink is a lot. I highly recommend finding a ready to drink Protein Shake that you can take with you for "emergency" situations. Especially during your healing post op. Example: Before leaving for your walk you could have had 8 oz of tomato/sweet red pepper Soup 120 cal (good carbs); Premier Brand Ready to Drink chocolate Protein shake (available at Costco) 30 g. protein for 160 calories. This would have been a healthier better nutrionally balance meal. But you could still have had a black coffee with splendra. Even during the healing phase you want to keep in mind how much protein are you getting for the calories. From what I could see online the drink you had listed 16 grams of protein (though the cals said 300 not 400). One lesson I've learned is the importance of planning. If I have a premade shake or Protein Bar with me I don't make bad food choices because I lack options; two I don't over pay for outrageously priced protein products (I'm a cheapskate). -
1St Fill Soon....will Food Change?
honk replied to JennyBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at restriction and tend to have problems with two foods: Raw carrots and doughy low quality white bread. I fix carrots by eating them with hummus. After all fills be careful to follow your doctors order. Mine says 24 hours full liquids and 24 hour mushies. Can't tell you how many times I've read " I had a fill today and had a hamburger for dinner and thought I was going to die!" Not to be a downer but it could take you many fills before you get restriction (took me 6 months); so you may not notice anything after this fill. -
Should I Be Worried If I Have A Fever And Diarrhea
honk replied to caramelqueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Def. call about a fever. My first night home I was in the bathroom all night with diarrhea but didn't have a fever. The type of protein can give you diarrhea esp "protein shots" which are a low grade. -
"I broke out in the rash from hell from that damn glue they use and tape... drove me nuts.. but i put hydrocortosone 1% cream all around the wounds, not on them.. and that soothed the itch enough for me to live with it.. took 3 weeks to clear... DON'T whatever you do scratch.. " ME TOO. I should have expected it my mother also had horrible medical adhesive allergies.

Well my thoughts would be you would have to eat a lot of Peanut Butter to get the Protein equivelant of 3 oz of chicken. Which would mean a loooootttt of fat and calories. If you do want peanut butter I recommend PB2. They grind the peanuts and remove the fat and you are left with dry peanut powder. You reconstitute it by adding Water. Just defatted peanut powder with no suger added. I supposed you could add your own splendra. Also, while I am not a fruit hater (I eat grapes and cherries when in season) bananas as high in calories which is why some doctors ban them.

Can Someone Explain This?
honk replied to otters38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at restriction and can eat Pasta and rice; but since they are not a favorite of mine I don't bother. Anything that can disolve in your mouth after a lot of chewing is a slider: chips, crackers, Cookies, ice cream, shakes. -
Almost everytime someone writes in with the problems you are having; the surgeon left a fill in during surgery. Call and find out. Sounds like you need to get that fill taken out.

Does Anyone Else Have This Problem?

I would call in at the 3 week mark and ask if they have any cancelations and then try to take one of those. -
Difficulty With Protein
honk replied to littlerlou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fat free Greek yogurt is more sour than the 2% fat. For breakfast I have fruited Greek yogurt with 1/2 scoop whey isolate protein powder, tsp unflavored benefiber, and a couple packets of Splendra, and about 1/4 cup high protein Kashi Go Lean Cereal. I say it's about 28 g of protein. -
I like sweet red pepper tomato soup. Adding Mrs Dash salt free flavorings to the soup before you heat them is very nice. The tiny spices reconstitute and they are lovely. Also I used a stick blender to mix up greek fruited greek yogurt. You can add milk if it is to thick. Has a nice texture.

72 Hours Post-Op... Over Did It!
honk replied to rairai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had me on clears for 7 days. Perhaps 3 days was not enough for you. I would do clear for a couple more days before moving to full liquids. -
Surgery Tomorrow.....
honk replied to HICK CHICK '99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any gas pain or nausia. Was able to deal with the pain using liquid tylenol. Have a small pillow for your ride home. Put it between you and the seat belt will help with the josseling. -
Not Enough Time For The 2 Week Post Diet.
honk replied to JohannaMae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you have a consult with your doctor and then got the date? If not call and ask that they confirm with him or her that they feel your are ready for surgery. My first consult was with a nurse practitioner who told me I needed to loose 35 pounds for surgery. At my first doctor consult I had lost 15 pounds. After feeling my lower abdomen he told me to continue to loose weight but that he could do the surgery that day based on the fat level in my abdomen. -
If you can not eat 3 oz of solid protein you are too tight! Sounds like you need a small unfill. If you are too tight you will rely on high cal foods that slip through the band. What kind of carbs are you eating. Things like crackers are highly problematic because they become either mushies or liquid in your mouth and slip right through the band. So high calories that don't stay the band and keep you full.
-
I have experienced similar situations and my gall bladder is long gone. Before surgery the only time I ever experienced it was after eating breakfast at dinners. Not sure if if was due to the fat used in the cooking or the high suger content of pancakes/syrup. Anyway I believe you. I wonder when we eat it speeds up our digestions. I don't think it's the food you just ate; rather food that's been traveling along and some hormone released when the stomach starts producing digestive juices. Just a laymans' idea. I am not a medical professional.

Why The Liquid Diets After Surgery??
honk replied to Stacey Flowers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are on liquid post op because your doctor probably has sewn your stomach above and below the band to prevent it from moving; and you don't want your stomach churning (if you were to eat solids). Please follow your doctors orders. I know it's sucks but it is for your own good. My doctor said 7 days clear liquids (stock)and then on day 8 full liquids (tomato soup) for another 7 days. On day 15 I could have yogurt which I mixed with stick blender and added milk to make it thinner. Greek yogurt has more protein which makes you feel full longer. I recommend having your broth/soup and then wait an hour to have the protein shake. This will help with the head hunger. If you have everything at once you will have another 4 hours before you can eat again. -

Help! Feel Like I Need To Vomit...
honk replied to lgm217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would sit down and take deep breaths. The more aggitated you get the more your stomach will contract; and the worse you will feel.
