Sounds like you are too tight. If 72 hours after the fill you can't eat 3 oz solid protein you are too tight and need a slight unfill.

Digital food scale is a must. Weigh out your low fat/cal Protein. Eat low fat/Cal veggies until full. Avoid carbs.

This is the reason I don't tell people at work! Was she eating ice cream in your home? If so I would stop buying ice cream. If she complains say "Well I really can't eat ice cream so there's no point in buying it" I'm sure that would tweek her. Childish but so satisfying.

No problems. Once healed I had no trouble as a stomach sleeper. -
Hi. Does your gym have a pool? I highly recommend Water exercise for heavy people. I always HATED the pool growing up. Water based exercise may help you loose enough weight that you feel more comfortable doing land based exercise. I started out swimming (using a snorkle to make it easier) at 365 pounds in my fat lady swim dress. I also recommend a water proof MP3 player (look on Amazon). I go to water aerobics and we have guys that attend. You can ask the instructor for ways to make the moves easier at the start and for more advanced moves later on. I started swimming before being banded. All together I've lost about 140 pounds. I am a slow loser but exercise really is a success breeds success endevor. The more you exercise the more you loose. The more you loose the easier it is for you to exercise.

I am at restriction, which means I eat 3 oz of solid Protein, and some veggies and fruit and am not hungry until 5 hours later. From lunch until dinner (I exercise between the two) it is often 6+ hours. I do get hungry. That's a long time between meals (I do not have Snacks, though on occation I have a low cal Protein shake before the workout. Depends on whether I will be so hungry during my workout that I know I will end up having a bad work out. ). While I def. eat less food than pre op; I don't eat tiny amounts. I see people on this site who think they will eat 1-2 bites per meal. That is unrealistic. You are an adult and need to eat adult portions (THIN adult portions). It took me 6 months of fills to get restriction. So to start this is a will power diet. Now that I'm at restriction I don't get that hungry feeling that I used to get every 2 hours; like i did on previous diets. Also the band will NEVER EVER stop you from eating foods like ice cream, candy, cake. If something melts in your mouth it will go down just as easy as Water. You have to choose good foods. Do I on very rare occation of a piece of birthday cake? Sure. But it's at a party and I don't buy cake for myself; and eat the whole thing.

When Did You Start To Feel Restriction?

Do Banders Ever Have A Glass Of Wine Or A Cocktail?
honk replied to Kathy Mather's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Admittedly I am not a drinker. Sure you can have alcohol but it really is just calorie water. If someone told you they were working really hard to loose weight but then said they had snicker bar several days a week; you might roll your eyes. -
I would avoid Pasta and bread. All empty calories. If you can't eat 3 oz of solid Protein you are too tight. My doctor doesn't want me drinking my calories ie Protein shakes. Some people are really tight in the morning and do a shake for Breakfast, I get that. I am at restriction and eat chicken twice a day and don't have any trouble. If you can't eat 3 oz solid protein by lunch you are too tight. People who keep the band really tight because they are loosing weight, usually eventually fall back on protein shakes. This usually leads to other liquid calories and thus weight gain.

2 Weeks Out - How Much Can/could You Eat?
honk replied to JessRess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Entering week 3 I would have 8 oz of smooth soup (tomato or sweet red pepper) and an hour later 3 oz of protein. I would have strickly protein and not mushed stew which is part meat and part carb. Also at week three I could have greek yogurt (with fruit which is mixed with a hand blender) or cottage/ricotta cheese. At week four I could have canned chicken or tuna which I mixed with laughing cow cheese or egg whites (which you can microwave). -
First Step - Consultation
honk replied to lolitawantsaband's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did'nt have to do a sleep study but had to show that I'd had a pap smear, mammogram, physical that year (I guess to show general health. If your doctor does not require meeting with a psycholgist who specializes in eating disorders I highly recommend going on your own. The office should be able to recommend someone. These sessions really helped me understand why I was over eating and to identify trigger foods. Foods that I would eat a lot of mindlessly, and foods that led me to eat even more food. My problem is crunchy foods and I don't mean baby carrots! I would have 3+ bags of fat free crackers, chips, rice cakes open in my house at any time. And I live alone. I had to stop buying these things. If I am at a party I can have crackers there. I can not however buy them myself and keep them in my house. -
As someone who will be on their feet all day and carrying heavy trays I think you should take at least 2 weeks off. I work on a computer all day and set. I had surgery late on Thursday so had (Friday, Sat/Sun, M-F, Sat, Sun) before returning to work. I went back to the gym that Monday but also took a nap each day after the gym.

Band Is Too Tight With No Fill......help!
honk replied to Carole Zurick Radney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
drinking hot liquids does help loosen the band. Could the fungus be between the stomach and the band? And once the fungus is gone the band will sit better on the stomach? -

Have You Ever Heard Of A Doctor Having Trouble Finding The Port?
honk replied to shelbymooy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One hint I can give is to do a little crunch on the table. It makes it easier for them to feel the port so they know where to stick the needle. -
Roro, fills won't help if you are "eating around th band". The band will never stop you from eating foods that dissolve in your mouth (candy, cake, crackers, cereal); or prevent you from eating so slowly that your pouch is emptying thus allowing you to keep eating. Are you eating 3 oz solid Protein first and then low fat/cal veggies until full? You should also take no longer than 30 minutes to eat a meal.

I Think I'm In Bandster Hell :/
honk replied to sunshine_x's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you weighing your Protein? I am at restriction but still measure. Digital food scales are available at Walmart etc. I try to live by the rule if I would be embarassed for my doctor to see my buying/eating a food It does'nt get eaten. -
How Much Are You Exercising??
honk replied to Bamabander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried swimming? I highly recommend it. Water proof MP3 player is a must. -
Short answer Yes, long answer kind of. Keep in mind the kidneys have to filter out everything you add to water. I try to drink half plain water and half low cal. drinks.

3 Days Post Op Liquid Diet Is Not Enough! Suggestions
honk replied to sma102205's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not trying to be mean spirited. NOOOOOOO!!!!! Would you eat ice cream in front of your doctor? Personally I am more afraid of the nurse practioner (old school Medford/Revere, MA type. Those of you from Boston know what I'm talking about). But I would'nt eat ice cream in front of either of them. Yes this is healing time but; ice cream is just a step to far. -
Here's a tip Low fat Laughing Cow is very good with tuna or canned chicken a lot less fat/cals than mayo. Your lucky your family is being supportive a lot of people don't get that!
