I did not start cottage cheese/mushies until day 15. Day 5 I was still on clear liquids . Day 8 I moved to full liquids until day 14. I realize you may be following your doctors orders but you personal biology just may require a slower food progression.

Since you are eating so little at a time; I would eat at hour three when you get hungry. Yes this is a healing period but do not use that as an excuse to eat high fat/cal foods. 1/2 of low fat cottage cheese is only 50 cals.

4 Weeks Post Op And Can Eat Everything...help!!!
honk replied to singingmom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also the band is not meant to prevent you from eating any food. Some bandsters keep their bands really tight which prevents them from eating certain foods. My doctor does no approve of this mentality. He wants me to be able to eat a wide variety of foods. I am at restriction and knock on wood have never had a PB or vomitted. I've only had stuck episodes from cheap doughy bread and raw baby carrots. -
4 Weeks Post Op And Can Eat Everything...help!!!
honk replied to singingmom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish more doctors were clear this is a will power diet until you get rescrition. It took me 6 months. Buy a digital food scale and weight out your Protein. My doctor says 3 oz others 4. Eat the protein and then low fat/cal veggies and fruit until full. While pizza isn't intrinsically bad I'm sure you realize eating a whole one is regrettable. If you do eat pizza top it withh chicken breast and eat salad first and then one piece of pizza. I would avoid all Pasta, bread, rice for now. You may need to also count calories so you have a good idea how many calories you are actually eating. -

I wouldn't worry about this. I would not pass gas though you might get an unexpected result. -

At restriction some can't eat solids at breakfast especially eggs. I would try a cup hot coffee in the AM before trying to eat. I have Greek yogurt with 1/2scoop whey isolate Protein added for breakfast Daily. When was your fill. Did you do 24 he's liquids and 24 he's mushies before moving to solids?
-
Yes! It took me 6 months to really get relative restriction and then went back about 6 months later and needed to get .3 more. Over a long period off time saline can evaperate which is why bandsters do need to go back occationally even after they reach restriction.

Restriction Getting Worse? Judych
honk replied to judych's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like your left overs where not your only problem (some people have problems with fish and left overs in general. If you can not eat 3 oz of solid protein at lunch and dinner you are too tight. Some people (as odd as it sounds) never even need fills. Based on that fact you may not even need 3 CC;'s you may loose weight with 2. Sounds to me like you need a slight unfil becuase you have trouble with a variety of foods. Knock on wood in almost 2 years I have never PB'd or vomitted. -
Sholit, Hi. I don't have any children but I know where you are comming from. My mom came to stay with me post op. On day 13 I was so tired of canned broth I strained some chicken noodle soup. One lone piece of finely chopped cooked/canned carrot ended up in my cup (Really truely by accident). I mushed it between my tongue and the roof of my mouth. HEAVEN. I made the mistake of telling my mother "WHAT! Should you have done that! Should we call the doctor!"

I've read evidence that estrogen is stored in fat. I wonder if as you are loosing weight you are getting surges of estrogen in the blood.
-
Kiwjo, straining a can of soup is a nice change. Also stock has a lot more flavor than broth. Also straining chinese take out soups would be nice as well.

DaisyChains, Hello. Did your doctor recommend the foods you listed? Many of them I would not consider mushies even if you put them in the blender. They will be too heavy for your pouch. Remember the band has new stiches holding it in place. If the food is too heavy it will pull on the stiches and possibly break them! First week of mushies i was only allowed yogurt (did have fruited variety that I minced with a hand blender), low fat/cal ricotta or cottage cheese (did get herb or pinapple varieties). I was not allowed canned chicken or egg whites until week 4. I would consider fish, and chicken patties a solid and would not eat them until week 5.

As mentioned earlier you can't spot reduce. In general after surgery I returned to swimming which is a great all over work out. For now concentrate on general calorie burning cardio.

Getting Fill After 18 Months. Nervous
honk replied to tryingagain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you can not eat 3 oz of solid protein you are too tight. If you can't go 4.5 hours between meals (which consist of low fat protein, low fat/cal veggies and some fruit) you may need a fill. I don't eat bread, pasta, rice. Just no worth the calories. -
Yes. What dosage of Biotin? I take 5000 mg pill is tick tack size.
-
Stock is better than broth.
-
In my opinion no. My doctor never told me to count Cal's. They also know I have Greek yogurt for Breakfast. There's difference however between low fat yogurt and milk, ice cream, McDs milkshakes.

Can You Blend Ice With Your Protein Drinks?
honk replied to ilikebunnies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, immediately post op no fruit until you hit solids. -
Water based exercise is great for those of us who are significantly over weight. If I can go infront of the high school swim team that practices at my gym wearing a swim suit at 365 pounds anyone can! All joking aside swimming (I use a snorkle makes breathing easier) and water aerobics are great on your joints and you can do much more in the water than you can do on dry land. At my heaviest I had trouble walkin the grocery store. Pre band I lost about 100 pounds by watching my food intake and swimming daily. And I do mean daily.

1St Fill And I Don't Know What's Normal...
honk replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Restriction is not meant to be painful! I'm grad you got a little unfil. You can modify this during your post fill but below is my go to Breakfast you can thin it out with milk for now since it is pretty dense. Chobani fruited yogurt (you can use a hand blender to mince the fruit) 150 cal 14 g Protein 1/2 scoop vanilla whey isolate Protein powder 50 cal, 10 g protein benefiber So for about 200 cals you get about 24 g of protein I am on solids so I add some walnuts (which are a good fat and have protein) about 1/3 cup high protein Kashie Go Lean (adds more protein Adding the above about another 150 cals but also some good protein being added.
