Ugh Tired Of Sounding Like A Nag!!
honk replied to misseyb73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is he really eating more or are you just noticing because you are not? When I visit my sister (who weighs less than me) and my niece (literally a size 0-1) they eat constantly. This is hard for me because I want/need to eat my 3oz of protein and veggies and then not eat again until the next meal. They will eat a bite here and there all afternoon. It can be hard when you are at someone elses house to say "I need to eat real meals not snack". -
I am almost 2 years out and knock on wood no horror stories. I don't PB or vomit.
-
I highly recommend trying swimming or water aerobics. When I started out I was at 365 pounds. I had trouble walking in the grocery store never mind trying to walk for exercise. To make it easier I use a snorkel and for entertainment I have a waterproof mp3 player.

Please Help!!!!! I Need A Protein Drink Asap
honk replied to allik07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Muscle Milk Light could be a good option. Make sure to get the light version as the regular is really high in cals. Also Carnation instant breakfast has a no sugar added version as well. It is however pretty low in Protein even when made with fat free milk. If you have a costco near by I would recommend joining. I'm single but still buy quite a bit of stuff there (food and non food). One I get the premier premade protein. Other things I've bought Pacific Brand Soups (much cheaper than the grocery store), Vitafusion Gummy Fiber, Kirkland chewable childrens's multi, Unflavored benefiber, roasted chicken, Nuts (walnuts, pecans), coq10, VitaRain (store brand Vitamin Water Zero), Chobani Greek yogurt. -
Liquid Pre Opt Diet Help!!!!
honk replied to Lacey8724's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I froze fat free milk into "Milk cubes". I made the shakes with 2/3 cup fat free milk and 2 milk cubes (add regular ice cubes as desired). Blended in a Hamilton Beech individual blender ($15 at Walmart and Target mixing cup is a travel mug), result was a thicker frappe like shake. I did add sugar free syrups (found coffee isle) and sugar/fat free pudding powder (2 table spoons). -
Please Help!!!!! I Need A Protein Drink Asap

Premier protein from Costco/Sams is very good. Boost and other such drinks are not mean to be protein replacement too high in cals and carbs. The reason they taste good is because they are high in cals. Gold Standard 100% whey Double Chocolate and Dymatize Nutrition Elite Gourmet Vanilla are very good. I mixed mine with a blender (froze fat free milk into "Milk Cubes"). You can also add sugar free syrups (found coffee isle), fat/sugar free pudding powder, misc spices. You might want to consider this more of a medical treatment not a fun time at the ice cream joint having a ice cream shake. It is only for a couple weeks. We can handle it for a couple weeks. -
I told immediate family and a couple friends. I do not tell people from work. I personally didn't drop weight like a rock so no one thinks I'm consumptive. Remember you can't unring a bell. When I have told people I'm on a diet I've had them say "Should you be eating that!" I don't need food police. I am twice as hard on myself than anyone else will ever be. I have told people at the gym who've ask. Though I do say that I lost 100 pounds though diet and exercise and another 70 with diet, exercise and the band.

Too Soon To Notice Changes??
honk replied to misseyb73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may want to do some measurements. You can revisit them monthly to see changes. I've gone from 52 DD to 42 DD -
I am almost two years out and have avoided straws. I've been buying black ice coffee and pouring it into travel mug. I did not have my mug one day and decided to just use the straw. Two sips and I got pressure in the middle of my chest. Lesson learned.

Filled On June 11Th... Still No Restriction
honk replied to Co Co's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Took me 6 months of fills to get restriction. Soup is also a slider. It is going to pass right through the pouch into the big stomach. In general however it can take up to 2 weeks for a fill to take affect. -
Im An Idiot And Ate Mushies Too Soon
honk replied to BreBre's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are hungry I would eat more servings of the foods you are allowed. I doubt you caused a slip but please go back to your doctors perscribed diet. I was on clears for 7 days, then full liquids for 7 days before moving to yogurt day 15 and then canned tuna or chicken at day 21. -
Do You Physically Feel The Lb In Your Body Else Then The Restriction?
honk replied to Dzire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Can't feel the band at all. My port is pretty deep and after 70 pounds lost it still is not viewable. I can feel the port if I push on the skin above it. If I do an intense work out I can get muscle pain around the port. -
So Worried About Throwing Up
honk replied to Sombra1718's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almost two years out and know on wood no vomiting or PB's. -
Pasta is not a mushie! Options cottage, ricotta, yogurt, canned tuna or chicken, retried beans.
-
I have a realize band 11 CC. I am a slow loser but knock on wood I don't have PB or vomitting. I also can eat most foods in moderaton.
-
I am still more gassy today almost 2 years out than I ever was. Shrug.
-
The band helps me go 4-5 hours after eating before I get hungry. I often have long stretches between lunch and dinner 6+ hours (and I go to the gym during that time). So I def. feel hunger.
-
Really not bad. Mine are done with no pre numbing shot. Before I lost some weight the nurse had me do a small crunch which helped her feel the port better. At my first fill (3 cc's) when I stood up from the table I felt this slight constriction against my stomach. Did not hurt or anything just felt a bit odd. So if you feel that don't panic. Make sure to stay on Full liquids for 24 hours and then mushies for another 24 hours.

Most doctors require Whey Isolate protein powder, it's a better than whey concentrate. I would write down the nutritional information bring it to Vitamin shoppe and find another brand whose nut, info. matches and try that one.

It really depends on the surgeons calendar. One thing you can do is stay in contact with the scheduler. My mother was having surgery and was given a date like 4 months out. We asked that they call her should there be a cancelation. They contacted us with a date that was a month earlier and we took it.
-
If it makes you feel any better I'm at restriction eat less than 1200 cals a day and do up to 2 1/2 hours of modererate cardio DAILY; and I loose less than 1 pound a week. Some of us just loose slower than others. Now for some fun facts. You lost 8 pounds. The first couple pounds is Water weight. Now ever pound will require cutting your calories by 3500, or burning off 3500 cals with exercise. Your body is also in a bit of a panic and thinks if it holds off loosing any weight eventually you will start feeding it again. Now that we've made the decision to loose weight we want it to happen like yesterday. Unfortunately this is long journey and not a sprint.
-
Are you getting enough calories? I get that when my blood sugar drops (I am not diabetic). Remember this can be serious. If you are that shaky you could be dangerous to drive! If you faint while driving that could be a disaster. Yes I am being alarmist but you don't want to pass out while driving. I know I've had times where I would'nt have been safe to drive.

Help....i Can't Control Vommitting..
honk replied to eileen27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes insist the doctor see you! Some doctors put fill in during the surgery and people need to have them remove the liquid via the port.
