I personally stuck with smooth veggie soups vs. cream soups. Pacific Brand is quite nice. I added Mrs. Dash non salted flavorings to stock and soups before heating. Added some nice flavor. In general CIB is pretty low in protein even when made with fat free milk.

I had surgery late on a Thursday. Took 6 business days and with two weekends that gave me 10 days.

Do you still have a gall bladder? Gall Bladder attacks tend to be horrifically painful but everyone is different. They happen esp. after eating a food that has fat.

Protein Powder/shakes With Little After Taste?
honk replied to banditalovely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For premade Premier brand (which advertises on the site is quite good. Available at Costco and Sam's. For Vitamins my doctor says to look for Choline in the multi. I take the store brand version of Flintstone chewables from Costco. I also take Caltrate Plus D chewable for calcium, Vitafusion Gummies Fiber and Vitafusion Gummy Vitamin D, Biotin 5,000 mg (tick tack size capsule), and Iron 65 mg. Since my doctor recommends stuff from regular stores I don't really see the need to buy expensive bariatric vitamins. After all thin people take regular vitamins. -
I did not get restiction until 10.6 in a 11 CC band. I measure my food so even though I wanted more food I was'nt eating it. Each person is different. FYi some offices have NP doing fills. I haven't seen my surgeon since about a month out. My NP would ask "If you measure out your food; can you go 4-5 hours before you are hungry again?" If the answer was no than I would get a fill. As I got closer to restriction she added "As you get close to finishing your portion do you get a feeling of satiation?" If you are exercising 3 -4 times a week you need to add more sessions. My doctor wants at least 30 minutes daily.

Are you supposed to be on solids? I was still on full liquids at 12 days. I am not suprised that you are full on solids at this point. I moved to solids at week 5 so my thought is you may see a difference in how long you can go between meals at that point. Are you weighing your Protein? Even during healing I was to measure out 3 oz of protein. You'd be suprised how little that is.

Advice For First Month Please!
honk replied to joannedt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most doctors require 2 weeks liquids post op because your stomach is recovering from having the band stiched into place. You don't want your stomach moving/grinding while it's healing. -
Have you called your insurance to see if they cover the band? If they do confirm they cover the doctor and their hospital.

Canned chicken is a mushie, cut up baked chicken is not. I mixed canned chicken with low fat laughing cow cheese instead of Mayo. Lot lower in fat/Cal's.

Look at the back of your insurance card and called said information number yourself. They will be out to tell you whether your particular insurance policy covers weight loss surgery. Personally I would not rely on the doctors office to find out I would rather look into it myself.

I had started exercising before my band journey. At that point I could barely walk the grocery store. 170 pounds later I do about 3 miles walking in the morning and then an hour either swimming or water aerobics in the evening. So I would say yes it definitely gets easier as you lose weight. 1 thing to remember the more you weigh the more calories you burn doing any exercise. The less you weigh the less effort it takes to move your body and thus the fewer calories you burn.

My doctor said 2 weeks.

I find a healthier food choices I make the less salty they are and the less I need a drink. I have a large glass of water before I start to eat whether at home or out. Let the waitress bring a water and leave it there.

Week 5 after surgery I was back to regular solids

While my cholesterol is lower than yours it's still bad. I am on a statin and take co q 10 to help with the muscle aches. My family has bad cholesterol levels. I'm very careful about the food I eat , have lost 170 pounds, and do up to 2 and a half hours of cardio daily. Not sure what else I can do. Ask your doctor about co q 10 found in the vitamin aisle. Not sure if you can take it with niacin or not.

Just read your next post. If you are supposed to wait till Wednesday wait till Wednesday. When I went in for my 2 week check up I only had 3 days left before I could move to mushies. I asked if I could move to mushy 3 days early the answer absolutely not! Also cheese is not a mushie it's a solid.
-
When are you allowed to move to mushies ? Refriead beans would have been week 4 for me. So personally I would say to wait awhile before you ate them.

I agree with the above description. I don't keep processed carbs in my house crackers, candy, bread, pasta, ice cream, chips, etc. Though I do have Kashi Go Lean that I add to my greek yogurt; but I don't eat it as cereal with milk. If I'm at a dinner party though and the main course is pasta I eat it and don't feel remorse.

How much Biotin are you taking? I take 5000 mg (tick tac size caplet). I had loss for about 6 months. Not sure if it just stopped or the Biotin was helping. I continue to take it regardless.

What Did You Eat/ Drink Post Op Day 1 And 2
honk replied to RobinGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was actually "hungry" the day after surgery. Didn't help that the broth at the hospital was unsalted and unedible. So I did not have anything to eat until about 2 in the afternoon when I got home. I had gone about 43 hours without eating. I found stock to taste better than broth. I also added Mrs Dash non salted flavorings prior to heating which also helped the taste. I was allowed protein shakes from day one (NO FRUIT though). Premier Brand premade shakes were nice post op because you don't have to mix them. -
1St Day Post Op...what Have I Done?!
honk replied to Ready2loseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets better I promise! As odd as it sounds make sure you are getting up and walking around your house today. It helps move the gas and prevent blood clots. Do you have access to a car? On day two after surgery my mother brought me out. She drove to the store and we walked around Costco and a couple other places. Though Costco probably was a mistake- they were giving out fresh baked brownies and the smell was kiillllling me. I would walk about 15-20 minutes and then would need to sit in the car as we drove to another store. -
I try not to eat or drink before any doctor's appointment because they always weigh you.

Not all doctors fill at surgery.
