  1. Please speak with your doctor. Keep in mind a blended soup is going to have carbs; and most doctors want to cut out carbs so your body is forced to burn fat ie that found in your liver.
  2. My doctor had me doing a 500 calorie a day liquid diet (yes 500). I did it for 6 days and lost nothing. NOTHING!!!! And I was doing an hour of cardio daily. Went off that crazy diet and back to MY diet. In 7 months lost 50 pounds .

    Boost Made Me Vomit!

Gateraid 3 is Serving Size: 1 bottle (16.9 Fl Oz), Calories: 130, Fat: 0g, Carbs: 14g, Protein: 16g. Not great Protein wise. Premier brand ready from costco is 160 cals for 30 g of protein. Especially during preop you need to look for more protein per calorie. Stuff like ensure or boost are to high in calories (ie carbs) for the amount off protein you are getting.
  4. I agree with poster that said purposely trying to irritate the band seems like a really bad idea.
  5. Bandster lesson 1: Just because you can eat something does'nt mean you should . Please return to your doctors food plan. Eating solids can cause you damage to the stomach.
  6. I have lost 170 pounds and don't really have loose skin. The worst of it is where my triple chin used to be and I do have some bat wings. I really have'nt gone down at all breast wise. However I've never been perky and at 42 it's not getting any better.
  7. Well, I would consider you lucky because I had 1 week clears, 1 week full liquids before going to thin mushies for week 3. Week 3 I could have yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese. Week 4 canned chicke or tuna. One recipe that I liked was ricotta, cottage cheese (low fat) with smooth spagetti sauce baked in the oven and grated parmesian on top. Egg whites with low fat laughing cow cheese.
  8. dquoiya, the fact you lost 90 pounds presurgery I think is a huge factor. I lost 100 pounds presurgery. I am a slow loser post op which I believe is because I was already living a pretty healthy live style. In order to lose you may need to shock you body by adding significantly more exercise. Pre surgery I was doing a hour of cardio and in the last couple months (since getting laid off) I've been trying to do 2 hours of cardio.
  9. What are you liquids? Can you have broth? If so I would drink more of that between your protein shake meals. Broth has like 25 cals per cup.
  10. It took me 6 months of fills to get restriction. My doctor prefers at least 30 min. of cardio 7 days a week. Are you weighing out your protein 3 oz per meal? Are you adding dressing to the salad? Plain chicken would be preferred vs. Chicken salad on top of greens. I actualy find salads in general to be a slider for me. I would pack for lunch 3 oz chicken breast, low fat laughing cow cheese, veggies, fruit . Individual hummus is also good during bandster hell. As you get restriction you will be full with out it.

    Creamy Soup???

I tended to buy smooth tomato based soups vs creamy milk based. Pacific brand tomato/sweet red pepper soup is quite good. I would add Mrs. Dash non salt flavorings before heating to up the flavor.

    So Mad At Myself

Were these items in your house? Bit of tough love but through it all out and don't buy any more. You can't eat what's not there.

    Vitamins

My doctor said to take flintsone multi with CHOLINE (look for that), I buy Costco store brand. I also take Caltrate plus chewable (has extra D), Vitamin D Gummies (I have low levels), Vitafusion Gummy fiber, and Biotin (5,000 mg).

    Dairy

My doctor wanted clear liquids for 7 days, but I could also have protein shakes (yes those were not clear). For me cottage cheese was a mushie which I could not have until week 3.

    Preparing For Fill...

I was never told to do anything special before a fill In general I try not to eat or drink very much because they weigh you before a fill and liquids weight A LOT.
  16. I guess I would tell you not to worry about them. You and ONLY you have to live in your body. Would they tell you not to have a hip replacement or heart surgery if you needed it? No they would'nt. After 39 years of being overweight I had to take drastic measures. Having surgery is not something to take lightly and it's not the first course of action. If someone makes this decision and their PCP, Surgeon and Psychologist approve; where does Mrs Cratchet the neighborhood busibody get off voicing an opinion.

    Cereal?

FYI Kashi clusters can be very hard. I broke a tooth eating it dry once. $#%$#%^ healthy cereal. Never had the problem with Capt. Crunch!!!!!!!

    Cereal?

I don't eat cereal because you are not supposed to drink while you eat. So I would have to drink the milk out off the cereal before eating it. I can tell you how I do utilize Kashi Go Lean High Protein cereal. Chobani Greek yogurt any flavor 1 tsp benefiber 1/2 scoop vanilla whey isolate Protein powder Splendra to taste Mix Add a couple walnuts 1-2 protein scoops of Kashi Go lean High Protein Cereal Mix Depending on how much ceral and walnuts your looking at 250-300 cal. breakfast. I drink hot coffee first which helps loosen the band (can be tighter in the morning). With the add ins your looking at 25-30 g of protein. Yes walnuts have fat but they are a good fat. If you eat at work put the powdered ingrediants in one bagie and the solids in another; and mix when you get there. By mixing in the yogurt container that helps keep you portions small. Otherwise there won't be enough room in the container!

    Carbonated Drinks

My doctor says NO! To be truthful I don't really miss it. And I save so much money when I eat out. Not just soda but coffee. While I drink it black anyway it's hard to get your money's worth when you have to stop drinking when your food comes. Not uncommon for coffee to be 2.50 at a breakfast joint. I'm a cheapskate so I guess I look at the money aspect. I did not however give up my .99 soda from Cumberland Farms (Northeast convenience stores) until the day before surgery. I do still get my black Ice Coffee from there (Big Gulp size) also .99.
  20. Pleased keep in mind I was doing an hour of cardio daily before surgery. Day four went back 45 min-1 hr on treadmill (gradually increasing speed) for the first week. Next 7 days moved to elliptical (I was concern about having good balance after abdominal surgery). Day 15 I was back in the pool (I do lap swimming).

    Post-Op Muscle Stiffness

I would call your doctor. Surgery can lead to blood clots which show up in the legs and lungs. They are NOTHING to fool around with. Better safe than sorry.

    I Cheated

I know this is hard. Super Super hard; and three weeks of liquids sounds excessive to me. Please follow your doctor's orders. At day six I was also on clears. I did only 1 week of full liquids before moving to soft mushies (yogurt) for a week. I would call you doctor and ask about moving to mushies in week 3 that might help you stick to liquids for the next 7 days. Also baked potato is not a mushie it is a solid.

    Nutritionist/ekg Appt.

My nutritionist meetings were a waste of time. In my preop phase I lost 50 pounds (7.5 months). We would discuss my food choices and she would weigh me. Many Americans just don't understand good/normal/healthy eating habits and part of this journey is learning those habits. This is not a diet. Diets have an end date. We need to learn and implement new ways of eating and how we think about food in general.

    Cervical Mucus???

    Yes, sign of ovulation.
  25. If you doctor is willing to help you find a doctor in Japan I would feel comfortable with that. Japan is after all a first world country. My mother had hip surgery with a procedure that is very common in Japan/Europe/Australia but still very new here in the US.
