I wouldn't say this is a stuck feeling; that is more in the chest. Did your doctor put any fill in during surgery? Usually when someone is having trouble with liquids it's because the band has a fill and their body is still swollen from surgery. I would call and ask.

Don't have a great answer for you. I did a 500 cal diet for 6 days preop and lost nothing! Keep in mind I was also doing an hour of moderate cardio (everyday); and I weighed over 300 pounds. Puts the whole calories in calories out on it's head! I was on HMR 500; medical liquid diet. I would make sure to get in your Water intake. Are you doing any exercise?

I Forgot What I'm Supposed To Eat...#carbs, #fat, #protein. What Are You Eating?
honk replied to OldMomOf3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor did not give any amounts post op other than 8oz by volume of liquids (broth or tomato soup) and 3 oz of protein cottage/ricotta cheese, canned chicken or tuna. My doctor was not that hip on mashed potato. I am two years out and only eat processed carbs on occation. I don't keep crackers, chips, cookie, candy, cake, bread, or pasta in the house. I also don't eat red meat, rice or potato on a regular basis. I save these things for dinner parties etc so they really are a big treat. -
Your insurance policy is set by whoever sponsored it (ie your employer). Call the number on the back of your call and ask whether they cover the band (which is decided again by your employer) and if they do if there is any kind of waiting period.

I would'nt worry about non alcoholic drinks as long as your pouch is empty.

Help, I Falling And Its Hard To Stop Old Habits
honk replied to dramastarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you weighing your protein? It took me 6 months to get restriction so I had to be pretty stricked about my food choices and portion sizes. -
I chew gum when I walk. It helps keep my mouth moist. I do choose small pieces and don't swallow it.

Speak with your doctor. There is a type of asperin that does not break down in the stomach. It's coating does not break down until it gets to the intestines. -
Band Filled Day Of Operation
honk replied to texas-bandette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some doctors do add saline during surgery. If you do have trouble drinking water, or protein shakes go back so they can take some out. -
I did have hair loss for about six months. Not sure if it just stopped or if the Biotin 5000 mg I started to take were having an affect.
-
I was also on liquids for 2 weeks, first week clears and second full liquids (tomato soup). Personally I would do at least full liquids for a few days as your stomach will be pretty traumatized from the surgery. For mushies the first week was cottage/ricotta cheese and smooth yogurt (used hand blender to mince the fruit). Second week of mushies was canned tuna/chicken which I mixed with low fat laughing cow cheese.

Drinking After Meals... The Hardest Part For Me.
honk replied to BigBayRooster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I find the healthier/low salt foods I eat the less I want to drink. The only time I reallyyyy would like a drink is at a party where the foods are those I normally would not eat. There are always high in salt. -
Depending on your age some of it could be hormonal. I find when I ovulate I get more urges to eat. I try not to keep any snacks in the house to reduce the damage. Right before TOM I tend to crave saltier foods.

Its a brand of medical weight loss food system. Some people do liquid diet only 500 or 800 calories others get to have prepared foods like Nutrasystem.

Did You Take A Multi Vitamin On The Pre Op Liquid Diet?
honk replied to newskinnygal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was told to stop 2 weeks preop and not to take them until 2 weeks post op. -
Mix with laughing cow low fat cheese.

Not during liquid stage. They are a solid! I keep Pure Protein bars for "emergencies"; if I am going to miss lunch and will be out. The protein bars you find in most convenience stores are WAAYY to high in cals/fat/carbs.

That sounds way to low to me. I've heard 60-90 for females in general not to mention those that are pregnant

One Month Our Just Got My 1St Fill
honk replied to 911chrystal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first was 3 cc's. 24 hours full liquids then 24 hours mushies. Keeping in mind you probably won't get restriction from your first fill; in general it can take up to two weeks for a fill to take affect. -
No Preop Diet? What Would You Do?
honk replied to SarahG0417's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did a self imposed preop diet. Protein shake for breakfast and one for dinner; had low cal/fat high protein lunch (chicken breast no skin and or fatty sauces). I did add about 1/3 cup of frozen fruit to the shakes. If you do a similar food plan pre op I would just be careful to monitor what you are putting in a shake. A small amount of fruit would be okay just don't add a cup worth. If you are on a doctor's ordered liquid diet DO NOT ADD FRUIT. If you like Peanut Butter go online and get PB2; because regular PB is super high in fat and cals. It's protein amount is not worth the cals is has. -
Coupla Questions B4 Initial Meeting
honk replied to barbi1281's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I've heard in the past is that they use your weight from your first appointment. I was weighed clothes no shoes. They also measured my height. One way to increase your weigh in is to wear heavy clothes (jeans etc) and drink A LOT of water . Water is very very heavy. -
Did Anyone Have Gallbladder Removal With Lapband Surgery?
honk replied to newskinnygal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most doctors will not do them at the same time due to infection concerns. My doctor has only once removed a gall bladder during banding surgery. The gall bladder in a question had gangrene which an kill you! Most shocking the patient had no gall bladder pain and it was a huge shock when the doctor got in there. For those who have not had a gall bladder attack. Having "mild pain" is EXTREMLY rare. A full blown attack is HORRIFIC. Writhing on the bed in a fetal position painful. Had mine removed after losing 100 pounds when I was 18. Really rare for someone that age. -
I Love My Band..no I Hate My Band...no Wait I Think I Love My Band! Uuuuggghh!

If 48 hours after a fill you can't eat solid protein you are too full. A slip will cost you way more than $250! Think how much a second surgery will cost you! -
After drinking the shakes I was getting a tingling sensation in the back of my throat. My brother gets that feeling when if he eats brazil or hazelnuts (deathly allergic). I was'nt taking any chances. Again, also gave it enough time to lose some weight and I lost nothing. I was doing an hour of moderate cardio daily so based on the whole calories in/out business I should have lost a lot of weight. At that point I weighed more than 300 pounds.
