  1. Well the only way you would become bulimic is if you vomit. Knock on wood in two years have never vomitted or PB'd .
  2. I gain at TOM. I would just keep your salt intake down. My doctor did not weigh day of surgery. Last weigh in was about two weeks prior.
  3. My insurance did not require any preop diet. I ended up having to wait 7.5 months from my first consult because I had a bloodclot in the brain that had to be dissolved before they could do surgery. Yes, I had a stroke at 39, Doctors could'nt say for sure that it was caused by my weight but they also could not rule it out either. This is the time to develop new eating habits. I lost 50 during the delay.
  4. Personally I think 10 pounds is not bad. I had to loose 35! And yes I did loose it in fact I lost 50.

    Gall Bladder Issues Post Op

I had to have my gall bladder out after loosing 100 lb when I was 19 (preband). Gall bladder pain can be deabilitating!
  6. Other than maybe 4 stuck episodes in almost 2 years; I don't feel the band at all. No issues when flying (not sure what that's about.).

    Picture :(

Boy, have I been there. Keep in mind that even after 170 pounds lost I am still overweight. Anyway. Had to take a new badge picture today at work and while it was a bad badge photo at least I did'nt feel super fat. Yes, I know I am still fat.

    Bad Day!!

Could it be TOM? I find that brings more eating urges. And at 42 my schedule is not as steady as it used to be. I will have a day where I feel like I am a bottomless pit. And out of nowhere TOM.

    Gallbladder

My surgeon does not do both surgeries at the same time. I had my gallbladder out at 19 after loosing 100 pounds. Gallbladder pain is nothing to mess around with. HORRIFIC. And I have a very high pain threshold. Eat something high in fat and you will know about it. In a big way.
  10. My doctor charged the insurance like $250 for the office visit and an additional 200+ for the fill. I have restriction so I have'nt been back since I lost my insurance that covers the fill.

Lap Band And Your Manly Man Friends

Well first if you were an alcoholic would he insists that you drink with him? Or would he tell you to take cocaine? No 1 knows what it's like to live in your body except for you. Can you compromise with some of your food choices. I've never eaten deer meat. Does it have to be fried? There are some foods that I don't eat everyday or even once a month. That doesn't mean that I don't eat those foods as a treat on a rare occasion.

    Questions About Calories

As long as you are not getting dizzy/passing out I would ignore it's request for you to eat more.
  13. As to protein shakes you might consider premade shakes they tend to taste better. Many on this site really like Premier Protein Shakes from Costco/Sams 160 cals gets you 30 g protein. Muscle Milk LIGHT is also pretty good; less protein for the cals though. Make sure to get the Light those the regular has wayyyy to many calories.
  14. I take Biotin 5000 mg (tick tack size). Though my doctor said no Vitamins for 2 weeks post op. My hair loss stopped not sure if it was the Biotin or that the body just recovers from surgery stress. When you are recovered and on normal food; I recommend the following for breakfast. Greek yogurt (with fruit) add 1/2 scoop whey isolate Protein powder, teaspoon benefiber, splendra to taste mix well; add several roasted chopped walnuts (adds fat but it's a good fat and some protein) and about 1/4 high protein cereal (such as Kashi Go Lean. About 25-30 g protein for about 300 cals.

    Sliming?????

Admittedly I may be in the minority but knock on wood two years out no sliming or PB episodes.
  16. I add half a scoop whey isolate protein powder to my breakfast Greek yogurt
  17. No, never got a letter like this but what does your policy require for them to cover surgery? For example do you need to demonstrate that you have muliple comobidities or a specific amount over weight? If so did your PCP or surgeon document those requirements? Some have to show documentation that they have been overweight for 3 years. If the doctor does not send records supporting that the insurance will decline.

    Scary Accident

Could your doctor have put fill in during surgery? Often when someone is having trouble drinking water it turns out they actually have fill. I would call and ask.

Working Out While On Pre Op Diet

I did though my doctor did'nt have me on a particalar preop diet. I made up my own. Over 7 months I lost 50 pounds. Did mostly 1 hr lap swimming.

    Scary Accident

Are you also having trouble eating? Normally if you can't drink that means you're band is too tight. Too many people post on here that they eat so little food and are proud of that. We are adults and need to eat normal adult sized meals. Getting to the point where you pass out from lack of food is really dangerous. I've had times to my life where I've gotten tunnel vision severe dizziness because of lack of food. That's not healthy. There was another poster talking recently about fainting. I posted there as well that you can be a serious hazard if you faint while driving. Sure we all want to lose weight but your weight loss is not worth my life. Our first responsibility is to be safe.
  21. Also, lower quality protein could give you issues. My doctor calls for whey isolate which is a higher quality protein.

    Im Scheduled For 9/11...need Advice

I wanted to comment on the pain comment. I would say my pain the first day at the port area was about a 5. Day two about a 3. I had NO pain from the gas that is pumped in. NONE. I was very concerned about what I read on here about pain levels. I am allergic to Codein, Morphine, etc so knew I was going to go the tylenol route. Nowhere near as bad as I expected.
  23. I don't tell people at work because of exactly that. I've gotten to the point where I also can't trust myself to hold my tongue. I'm not going to take comments about what I eat and not respond with questions like "Are you sure that alcohol fueled orgy you told everyone about was good for your health". "Has the doctor checked your liver lately becuase with your level of drinking I'm sure it's got problems." People should mind there own business! Very rarely do people say things because they want to be helpful. They say it to be superior.
