    Damn You Torrid!

I find some brands also have vanity sizing. Often the more you pay the more real estate you get! Places like Macy's or Lord & Taylor often have sizes that are a little bigger. For example I've been trying on 18 in the regular ladies dept at Macy's, Penny's, etc and they fit. Yesterday I tried 18 at KMart and I considered them to tight. Something else to keep in mind is many brands now have Straight fit and Curvy. I am more pear shaped so Curvy fit is best for me.
  2. Does your doctor allow protein shakes (plain NO fruit)? Other than that yes: my first 7 days was clear liquids and protein shakes and week two full liquids and protein shakes.

    Yogurt, Frozen Or Not

To me too slippery of a slope. Would you want your doctor to see it in your grocery cart? I wouldn't. This is a life style change. Dessert should be more of a monthly treat. Harsh I know. If you have it you will eat it more than once a week.
  4. Regrettably only 5% of those wo lose large amounts of weight will keep if off long term. Prior to being banded I lost 100 pounds 3 times only to gain it back plus some. I'm up to 7 miles a day walking. Don't know many thin people who do that kind of cardio.

    5 Days Post Op

During week one I would have 8 oz of stock and then an hour later a protein shake. Did this 3 times a day.
  6. I don't think my doctor every mentioned not to drink from a straw but it gives me a very uncomfortable feeling so I don't use them.
  7. I recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card. The can tell you exactly their requirements. There are differences in coverage even between different policies for the same insurance company. Also, your doctor may have requirements above and beyond that of the insurance. My insurance requirements none. My doctor: 10% loss of body weight; and a butt load of tests.

    Veggies

Can't eat baby carrots plain. I can eat shredded or cut up ones though. All other veggies are fine.

    Started Going To A Gym

I've normally heard that you should give a days rest between weight lifting work outs so M, W, F. For cardio my doctor wants at least 30 minutes 7 days a week.
  10. What's done is done. I would say if one were to "cheat" DON'T EAT CARBS!!!!

    Confused About Blood Work Numbers...

Welcome to my cholesterol world! I have genetically bad cholesterol. After my last physical the nurse practitioner said to me please try to up your exercise and control your eating to lower your cholesterol. Now she knew I had surgery and had lost 130 pounds, and that I do at least 1 hour of cardio 7 days a week. Not sure what else she thinks I can do.

    Four Weeks (Almost!)

I'm not sure where your doctor's office got the 4 tablespoons of food business. I was always told to Measure 3 ounces of solid protein and some vegetables after that. Also there's nothing wrong with chugging water I do that all the time. As long as you're not doing that within an hour of eating.
  13. Sorry to hear of your problems. At my office only the Nurse Practitioner does the fills. Though NP are more senior than a standard nurse.

    Juices?

Sorry, most doctors would say no. Remember juice is all carbs and the most preop diets try to eliminate most carbs. You want to force your body to burn fat. It prefers to burn carbs first, Protein, then fat. If you are eating mostly protein the body is forced to after it burns the protein to turn to fat. Also post op most doctors don't want you drinking calories. The band will never stop you from drinking calories. The entire point of the band is to help you eat less solids.
  15. Well I do A LOT of exercise. I started out doing water based exercise (lap swimming and water aerobics) and once I had lost enough going on walks. Please note when I started I was getting injections to my right knee because I had pain so bad I could barely do my grocery shopping. Today I did a 6.5 mile walk at 3 miles and hour. To me that is the ultimate NSV. I'm doing 1-2+ hours cardio 7 days a week.
  16. To be truthful it is really not that bad. I read all kinds of stuff on here about how painful it was and I was really worried because I am allergic to opiates (codein, morphine). I was fine. I just took liquid tylenol. No problems. I did not have any of the gas pain that some people talk about. To be truthful the blood clot in the brain (otherwise known as a stroke) that I had at 39; totally out of left field (I was a very healthy fat person) was MUCH worse. Petrifying!!! And yes major health problems can happen to you. They aren't something that only happens to other people.

    Nutritionist ?

My doctor had two Nuts. The first one while not as rude as yours was not very nice. I asked from then on to see the other Nut. Not sure what the Diabetes comment was about.
  18. Well since my gall bladder was giving me HORRIFIC pain I did'nt really worry about the risk of surgery. Watching real surgeries on Youtube made me more comfortable with the surgery. FYI no blood so don't worry.
  19. I'm going to take a different view. I think your mother still thinks herself in charge of your health decisions. No matter how old you are she still sees you as the child and her as the parent. She's made a decision and 1) being the parent, 2) being a medical professional does'nt see why she should change her opinion. Parental decisions don't have to be rational. As someone who had a stroke at 39. I was a healthy fat person. My only issue was a bad knee. I know how being overweight can lead to severe health issues with little to no warning. If you have been approved for sugery by a respected surgeon; you need to go ahead and not let her bother you. In fact you may need to tell her that her negative attitude is bad for your emotional health; and will be bad for your physical recovery. If she won't give it a rest I would tell her you will need get back with her after surgery if she can't be supportive.

    7 Ccs No Restriction

I did not get restriction until 10.6 cc's everyone is different. For me it is all about not being hungry vs feeling full. I usually ask myself am I hungry enough to take another bite. I don't really get a hard stop like some bandsters. I usually get a full feeling 5-10 minutes after I stop eating. Also don't expect that restriction means you will no longer be able to eat certain foods. The only things I have issues with are cheap doughy white bread and raw baby carrots. The band is not meant to stop you from eating anything. Because some bandsters have trouble with all bread, chicken, or beef; others think restriction means your band prevents you from eating those things.
  21. 45 g of protein is very much on the low end. What kind of carbs are you eating and how much? You would need to eat a whole lot of "good carbs" to consume about 800 cals worth per day. Eventually you loose all the water weight and then you are working on true fat. Fat takes a 3500 cal deficit to lose 1 lb of fat. How much exercise are you doing? My doctor says at least 30 minutes 7 days a week. I do up to two hours daily and I am a slow looser.

    Worried?

Muscle also burns more calories even at rest. So the more muscle you have the more your metabolism burns.

    Can Anyone Handle Steak?

No problems what so ever. I just am not a red meat fan. Not due to moral/ethical issues; we just didn't eat it growing up (too expensive).

    Hair Loss Question

Just so you know the biotin I take is about the size of a tick tack so not at all difficult to take.

    Curious About Shakes

CIB is high in suger for the protein you get I try to be at 30 of protein for 200 cals. Premier Protein shakes from Costco/Sams is 30 g for 160 cals. My doctor does'nt want me having liquid calories either. I have Greek yogurt for breakfast daily (add 1/2 scoop whey isolate protein powder, walnuts and high protein cereal ) More of a mushie than a harsh solid. Occationally I have a premier protein shake pre work out. At work I have lunch at 1 but due to commute and work out don't have dinner until 8:30 or so. If I don't have a snack I am starving.
