Pre-op Diet starts....TODAY! Yay
honk replied to braziliangirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To original poster. For yogurt look for the Greek style as it will have twice the protein for the same calories. You can add Splendra if the taste is too sour for you. -
Picketing the Cadbury Corporation. Anyone with me?
honk replied to marfar7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

I'll tell you a little about me I need help
honk replied to kershe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
33 pounds is a lot that's 4 pounds a week. Doctors say 1-2 pounds is normal. The band is not meant to stop you from eating any specific food!!!!!! Don't think the band isn't working because you can eat bread. Also how much do you have to loose? Lower bmi at time of surgery normally means slower loss. -
My doctor says to weight out 3 oz of protein. I would try that and see if you are eatung to much. Studies show those who estimate rather than measure will eat too much.

Greek yogurt with half scoop protein powder, unflavored fiber powder, high protein Kashi go lean, couple broken up walnuts. Splendra to taste. Lasts me about 4 hours. Have coffee during commute yogurt around 9: 30.

I need a refill but is something wrong with my band?
honk replied to Magaband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you are too tight! My doctor says mushies day 2 and cukes are mostly water. They can take out very small amounts like .2 CCS. Call them today. You don't want to end up in the ER for dehydration over the weekend. -
Please understand I am not being mean spirited. You need to measure your food. My doctor says to weigh 3 oz of Protein and eat low fat/ cal veggies until full. When your allotted protein is gone no seconds. Just because you can eat more doesn't mean you should. This is a diet for now. Also, don't expect restriction at your first fill. Took me about six fills.

honk replied to twtabby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon will not remove the gallbladder during lb surgery; higher complications rate. If you need it out do it first. -

Unflavored fiber powder helps me stay regular. Works really well no taste or clumping. Add it to my yogurt daily. -
Friends don't just understand...
honk replied to Karen85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well a lot of thin people eat like crap. My 16 year old niece is a very athletic (trains year round for crew) size 2 ; eats constantly. That behavior is bad for me. My sister is very understanding when I tell her I have to eat a real meal vs grazing all afternoon. -
Seminar was tonight.

Fast food and alcholic drinks??
honk replied to misscarrie36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes fast food is unavoidable. KFC has grilled chix breast pull off the skin. Many FF places now have apple slices for the kids meals but anyone can buy them. Haven't been to McDs to eat in years. That said egg mcmuffin with Canadian bacon would be a good option minus the bread. -

Can someone please help me????
honk replied to wladyt1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Starting week 2 or week 3? Week two I was allowed 1 cup full liquids ie tomato soup and 1 cup in protein shake. Week three was 3 oz soft mushies like yogurt per serving. My doctor goes by weigh rather than volume (cup) for solids. -

I have Greek yogurt mixed with 1/2 scoop Protein powder which thickens it up for breakfast everyday. I also mix in flavorless Fiber powder, some chopped walnuts, and high protein Kashi go lean. Keeps me full for about 4 hours. The band even at restriction you will only go 4-5 hours before getting hungry. People who go 8 hrs before they are hungry are in the minority. My doctor says 3 meals no Snacks. I do sometimes have premier ready to drink Protein shake pre work out. I usually have about 7-8 hrs between lunch and dinner (long commute and go to the gym in the way home). -
Help! As soon as i eat a few ounces, I'm bloated!
honk replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are eating? Beans will make you gassy. Could you be lactose intolerant? -
If you go the exercise game route look for used ones. New games are expensive. Check out games spot, new berry comics, even best buy. Bought the Nike Trainer. Have only done the evaluation part. Not sold on it yet. As to the ones I like Zumba Rush, Just dance 3 (JD 4 has a more difficult user interface), Just Dance Disney. I found Dance Central harder.

What do you think Re: liquid diet
honk replied to Lionbird's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your prop visit might include pre surgery blood work! Call to see if you should fast before the appointment. -
Full disclosure 43 year old woman no kids. Bought Xbox 360 used and Kinect. Using it to do Zumba and dancing games. GREAT exercise. You can even have multiple dancers on some games. So you could get your grandkids involved. Enjoying it way more than I expected.
