    How Soon

I was doing the treadmill day 4 and about day 11 moved to the elliptical. I don't hold on to the elliptical handles so I needed more core strength to keep my balance. Day 15 I could start swimming again.
  2. I find it helps to spread out your food intake where possible. For example first week post op I could have broth and protein shakes (plain no fruit). I would have a cup of broth (find a small coffee cup that is only 8 oz so you don't have to measur all the time) and an hour later the shake.

    Galbladders?

Sounds like you might have a heital (sp) hernia which many over weight people have and doctors fix them during lap band surgery. Most doctors don't remove the gall bladder at the same time as inserting the band. Installing the band is putting a piece of silicon around the stomach. Taking out a gall bladder is cutting part of the digestive system out which has all kinds of juices etc which can affect the surgical field. My surgeon will only removed the gall bladder at the time of surgery it is discovered that the organ is severely diseased. In all his years of surgery he has only removed one and it was literally gangrenous (meaning it could have killed the person). For the first few weeks it will be hard to hold a baby that is squirmy. And 6 month olds are just that. Mostly because of the port incision which is about 3 inches long. The other incisions are itsy bitsy (like 1/4-1/2 an inch). After you are healed no problem. I had to meet one on one with a Nutritionist 3-4 times before surgery. I also had a one time "class" a week before surgery where they went over IN DETAIL how I was supposed to eat the month following surgery. The class was a group session. I had a one on one with a psychologist at the very beginning of the process. I later had to attend 3 group sessions with a psychologist that specialized in eating disorders. These were VERY important for me. If your doctor does not require such sessions get a referral! These sessions helped me understand why I over eat and what foods trigger my over eating. You need to create a new relationship with food.

What Is Wrong With Me ?

My doctor requires sessions with a psychologist who specializes in eating disorders. This is a time for you to learn new food habits and develop a healthy relationship with food. I really think it is a bad idea to create a pattern that weekends are for binging. As mentioned above after you've healed from surgery you will be able to eat all/most foods just less of them. I now eat one slice of pizza (even deep dish) and a small salad instead of a whole small pizza. Seeing the band as the end of the process as opposed to abeginning is the wrong mindset.
  5. The only time I have trouble with bread is if it is cheap low quality. A higher quality and or whole grain bread is fine.
  6. Tracks at local high school asre great (sure boring) they tend to be safe, have cushy walk surfaces, and are free.
  7. Yes store brand liquid Acetaminophen. I got mine at Walgreens. If you have some time before surgery you might be able to find it on sale 2 for 1 (which I did). I needed quite a bit because I am allergic to codein and morphine so I only took Acetaminophen. The bottles are really pretty small so I would definately get at least 2.

    Toys?

Maybe after trying them she decided they were fine in a pinch but not as satisfying as YOU. So if you has access to you she does'nt need/want them.

    Could It Be My Gallbladder?

<p>It's been 20 years since I had my gall bladder out but I don't remember any neck pain. I do remember it hurting to breath. I distinctly remember lying in my dorm room in a fetal position. One of my floor mates insisted on driving me to the hospital. She was concerned I might have a bleeding ulcer. What are you eating before these attacks happen? Something high in fat will set off an attack (a couple hours can go by, which is why they wak

    Could It Be My Gallbladder?

My gall bladder pains were not "dull and ache" they were horrific stabbing pains. And yes they did wake me up in the middle of the night.

How To Deal With Sore Feet ?

I know I sound like an annoying doctor but weight loss makes all the difference. I sooo know what it's like to have painful feet. I agree good shoes are a must. Also make sure they are wide enough. That is a huge issue for me. Even after loosing 170 pounds; in EasySpirit I still take 8.5 Double Wide. Genetically I have wide feet.

    My Wls Helping Husband To

I gave up soda the day of sugery and haven't looked back. I used to order it every time I ate out, bought it at the check out off most stores, and bought my .99 cent soda at cumberland farms. Here's one thing to do; keep track of soda consumption and the cost for a week. I think most people would be shocked how much buying soda esp at restaurants costs.
  14. I agree you probably didn't gain 1 1/2 pounds of fat. However potato is a bad choice. My doctor said to choose high protein mushies low fat cottage or ricotta cheese, greek yogurt (use splendra to taste as it is very sour). Week two I could have canned chicken and tuna mixed with low fat laughing cow cheese.

    Over Eating ?

I agree about looking for healthier options. You can normally find something. Also you can ask for the kitchen to modify a meal. Most places have plain chicken breast; and will substitute out french fries for some kind of salad/veggies. When I get the meal mentally or physically cut it in half and only eat half. I find the healthier you eat the smaller the portions. Since I NEVER eat white potatoes at home I enjoy having a baked potato when out.

    My Wls Helping Husband To

Does Pepsi have a low sugar version , I know coke does. You may have more luck weaning him off vs. Cold turkey.
  17. When I started out i was 365 pounds. My first day of swimming I walked into the pool area in my fat lady swim dress in front of the high school swim team (they rent part of the pool) AND about 50 of their parents. If I can do that ANYONE can. Highly recommend a water proof MP3 player makes the time go by so much faster.

    Pigged Out

Yes it happens. I find the more salty/fatty/crunchy the foods the more I want to eat them. Probably because I don't eat these foods very often. I try to get a good base of lower fat/protein foods and have a small amount of "fun foods" to top off.
  19. Sorry but hummus has about 30 calories per tablespoon not 10. I did eat a lot of it early on but had to stop. I was using it to eat raw carrots and I was eating wayyyy to much. Some brands do make individual serving containers which would be perfect. My issue was I was eating directly out of a full sized container.
  20. How about swimming? At my heaviest I had a very bad knee problems and could barely walk. 2 years post op I can now do 2 and half hours of walking daily.

    Food.vs.exercise

Early on I swam and did water aerobics since I had a really bad knee problem. 2 years out I'm doing 5 to 7 miles a day walk

I have 1 caffeinated coffee and then switch to decaf. When I sit onsite at a client I drink a lot more than when I'm at home.
