I've lost about 170 lb and don't sag.
-
I agree sounds more like head hunger.
-
When you were banded? I was not allowed greek yogurt until day 15. Even then however I added fat free milk to thin it out.
-
Can you remove foods not on your plan from the house if you can't stop yourself from eating them? You can't eat what you don't have. The post op diet sucks. We all admit that. I would recommend eating more of the foods you are allowed (space out your eating) rather than moving a head in the food schedule.

I did not get restriction until 10.6 ccs

I really hate the myth that the weight just "falls off". For me every pound has tried to stick around like it is super glued on. Keep in mind I eat very conservatively and do 2-2.5 hours of cardio daily (yes 7 days a week). One thing to keep in mind is as you exercise you will build muscle. So even as you loose fat if you gain muscle the scale won't move.

Constipation. Sorry To Be Gross

I add unflavored fiber powder to my morning yogurt. I also take fiber gummies. Helps me stay regular. -
When Did You Start Seeing Serious Results?
honk replied to dj112's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat a similar yogurt breakfast. I also add half a scoop of whey isolate protein powder to the yogurt. This adds another 12 g of protein for only 50 calories. -
Once the gall bladder is gone the pains should go as well. Though when I was younger (I had it out 24 years ago) I sometimes had phantom pain during PMS. Not sure why but they only came during PMS.
-
Do you still have TOM. My band is significantly tighter the first couple days; and I definately am hungrier during PMS.
-
A support group is fine but the band is useless unless you get fills. Remember the doctor works for you not the other way around. If you can now afford fills (Some hospitals have cash pay prices which are cheaper than insurance prices.) go get a fill.

So Afraid On Not Being Approved
honk replied to Pana'sNewStart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I would'nt say it helps with "cravings" like ice cream or cookies. I still occationally "crave" these things. For me the band helps me feel satiated and not interested in eating for 4-5 hours. I can walk by a plate of cookies an hour after lunch and not pick one up. Preband I would never have done that. -
Going For My Consultation Tomorrow- What Should I Expect?
honk replied to JennaSoto's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not to be a downer but I had LOTS of appointments. I had the original consult with Nurse Practitioner/Nutritionist/Psychologist. Some things I had already completed but here's what they required: yearly physical, pap smear, full blood workup, cardio ultrasound; 3-4 meetings with Nutritionist, 3 meetings with eating disorder therapist (doctor requires of all his patients), 2-3 appointments with Nurse Practioner and 2 with surgeon. -
$3.59 Manchester, NH

Well since my office weighs me I try to eat as little as possible!
-
Early on I did lap swimming and water aerobics (water proof MP3 player is a must for laps) because I had a really bad knee problem. I still swim but now that my knee is so much better (170 pounds lost) I do 5-7 mile walk daily. I like the elliptical, my knee no longer likes bikes of any kind.
-
I chew gum during my daily walks, 5-7 miles. Since I don't carry water with me it helps keep my mouth moist.
-
FYI, knock on wood, at restriction 2 years out and have never PB'd.
-
I am at restriction and can eat any veggie. Raw baby carrots are my only challenge.

1 Day Of Mushies = 1.5 Lbs Gained :(
honk replied to diamante's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mashed sweet potato/yams would be a better choice than white. Also some mash cauliflower. -
You can run a search on this site for exact details. In general it's condensing the food program from the first month post op into five days.

Those Who Have Had The Band For A While I Need Some Advice/ Insight Please!!!!
honk replied to journeygirl28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that it sounds like you are consuming to much. If you are on solids than you don't need the shakes. Starting week three Day 15 I could have smooth soup (8 oz) and 8oz of Greek yogurt (blended to mince the fruit) per meal. What mushies are you allowed and how are you preparing them? I was not allowed canned chicken/tuna until week 4 day 21. I prepared them with laughing cow cheese instead of Mayo. Yes you are healing but this is also the time to learn new food habits. Low fat Laughing cow has a LOT less cals and fat than mayo. -
Where To Buy Liquid Tylenol For Adults
honk replied to stampwithbarb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had NO gas pain at all. The port incision, the largest, is only about 3 inches. So admittedly my pain level was not that bad. If your pain level is okay I would recommend sticking with liquid Acetaminophen. Taking codein or morphine can cause side affects such as constipation. -
First Fill And Still Hungry
honk replied to lookinfwd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it can take up to 2 weeks for a fill to take affect. 5.2 is a huge surgery fill. Took me 6 months of fills to get restriction. Also as mentioned above some of us get a feeling of satiation vs "full". This is why my preop meetings with a eating disorder therapist were really helpful. Don't expect the band to give you the full feeling you are used to. It doesn't work that way. Also remember even with the band you need to be able to eat 3 oz of Protein and 1/2 cup or more of veggies and or fruit each meal. -
I go daily. I add flavorless fiber powder to my morning Greek yogurt and take fiber gummies daily. In addition to your 3 oz of protein you also need to have high fiber veggies. If you can't eat/have room for veggies you are too tight.
