Very Unpleasant Fill - Skill Level?

You have every right to get the provider you want. I have a Nurse Practictioner who is excellent no pain or bruising.

    Really Upset

Seriously? Contrary to many posts on this site the band does not mean you loose weight daily or even weekly. Just wait until you are stuck for a month. Don't mean to sound B&*(*)( y but this won't be the last time that happens.
  5. I take a chewable multi vitamin, chewable caltrate with extra D, gummy D's, and Gummy fiber.

    Got The Shakes

You don't have to be diabetic to get shaky with low blood sugar. Since having surgery the fact that I eat lower carb I don't have as much blood sugar spikes as I did previously.

    Nutella

Definitely a no! Way too high in fat and calories. If you're going to have candy it would be better to choose dark chocolate because at least that has health benefits.
  8. Please understand I'm not being mean spirited. Your surgery was just over a month ago. It is not uncommon for Lap Band patients to have weight loss plateaus. 1 long time member of this site once said quote Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was your rear end. This is a lifetime journey not a race. Again I'm not being mean I just think you need to understand this is going to take while.
  9. I take fiber gummies and vitamin D gummies everyday no troubles.

I was told 3 ounces solid protein and a half a cup non starch veggies and half a cup fruit.

To Fsa Or Not To Fsa

FYI the FSA is use or loose. However you can use the card at pharmacies for certain supplies so you can use it up that way. Those funds can be used to buy eye glasses as well if you have money left at the end of the year.

    Chicken Gyros?

I would ask if they make the sauce (if not ask if they will tell you the calories listed on the container). If they do make it ask whether it's made with low fat yogurt. Full fat Greek Yogurt has has much fat calories as ice cream. Trader Joe's was giving samples of their full fat French vanilla Greek yogurt. I said to myself this tastes like melted ice cream. Well when I read the container it had the same calories! Also often the meat in the Gyros are a mixture of ground up meats. May not really be that healthy. Most Greek places will have chicken Kabobs, I would probably say that would be a MUCH better option.

    Got The Shakes

I don't know if I would say it's normal but your calorie intake is probably low. I would recommend spacing out your food intake which might help your blood sugar levels.
  14. I think you loss is just fine. Remember most doctors say you will loose 1-2 pounds per week. Yes, often the more you have to loose the faster it comes off at first. The loss however is slower for some of us. I do 2 + hours of moderate cardio 7 days a week and loose less than 1 pound a week. More like.5 pound. And I eat very conservatively.
  15. Yes, drink lots of water. This is very normal. As your body heals and the swelling goes down you will feel hungrier. PLEASE DO NOT SKIP AHEAD IN YOUR DOCTORS FOOD PLAN. This can cause your band to slip which would be very very bad. It would be much better for you to eat the foods you are allowed more often then to eat foods you are not allowed. If you are allowed broth and protein shakes (made with water or fat free mik and no fruit) have the broth wait as long as you can and then have the shake.

    They Couldn't Access My Port

I have lost 70 pounds and the nurse had to feel around for it at my last fill. Port is still pretty deep. I find if I do a small crunch it helps them find it easier.

    How Long?

I am 2 + years out and went in Friday for my first fill in about 11 months.

    I Think I Need A Fill ??

My doctor says 3 oz of solid Protein and 1/2 cup low starch veggies and 1/2 cup fruit for lunch and dinner. If you can eat more than that you probably need a fill. I did not get restriction until 10.6 ccs. I find the better I plan in advance the better my food choices. If I know I am going to be out until a time when I will start to be hungry I bring a healthy snack. This can be a low fat cheese stick, low cal/fat Protein Bar (think less than 220 cals. for at least 20 g of protein), low fat/cal ready to drink Protein shake, piece of fruit. Often at convience stores they have greek yogurt which would be a better option than a hot dog.

To Fill Or Not To Fill?

I agree 1.25 pounds a week is not an "only". My doctor would ask am I eating 3 oz of solid protein and 1/2 cup veggies and 1/2 fruit every meal. If I can't than the band is too tight. If you keep a too tight band you will lean towards sliders and those tend to be higher in calories.

    Dilemma

Look for trousers that are designed with roomier "seat" and thighs; and smaller waist'; they might be a better fit for you. I have trouble with bottoms in general because I don't want to or should wear "low rise". If you are larger than size 12 no one should wear low rise.

    Keeping It A Secret

The way I look at it is you can't unring a bell. As mentioned above people complain you are over weight, then complain they don't like how you try to loose weight. I have been very open with the water aerobics group at my gym. There is in fact another woman (older than I) who has also has LB. They saw my efforts pre surgery where I lost 100, so they know how hard I've been working. I've been an independent contractor since surgery so I have'nt work at the same company over the last 2 years so no coworker has seen my 70 pound loss.
  22. At week three I was still on soft mushies like yogurt and cottage cheese. I did not move to denser mushies like canned chicken until week 4. You may want to consider soft mushies for a few days before moving back to chicken. .

    Getting Ahead Of Myself

Well I have to say you need to follow your doctors order. If you want to move ahead of their schedule speak to them about that. To give you a heads up when I asked if I could move to soft mushies 3 days early from full liquids I was told "Absolutely NOT!" That said at week five I was on solids. In general the reason we have a graduated diet liquids to solids is because they have sewn the stomach and the band in order to keep it in place. When the stomach grinds to digest foods; the more solid the more grinding. The grinding can break the stiches. After all fills the stomach is a bit tramatized. I just had my first fill in about 11 months and had to do 24 hours liquids followed by 24 hr. mushies and boy did that suck. That said however I am down 2 pounds since Friday! Oh and I hosted a dinner party on Friday night. Really enjoyed that smooth tomato Soup and Protein shake while everyone else had chili and nachos!

    Mushies And Soft Foos

When was your surgery? I moved to soft mushies on day 15.

    Typical Post Op Diet????

1 week clears 1 week full liquids 1 week soft mushies (yogurt, cottage cheese) 1 week denser mushies (canned tuna/chicken) Then solids. What "liquids" does your doctor call for? I've heard yogurt referred to as a liquid by some and my doctor called that a mushie.
