Yes if we were good on diets we all would'nt be fat. As previously mentioned this is about developing a new relationship with food. The band will never ever stop you from eating ice cream, cake , candy, crackers. Post op you CAN NOT. Repeat NOT make up your own rules about what you can eat the first month post op. You can cause yourself serious damage by eating even mushies too soon. Good luck on your surgery.

Question About Unjury Shakes
honk replied to Joy1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed fat free milk. Adds 90 cals; but also about 9 g protein. -
If you're not weighing your protein I would start doing that. You'd be surprised how much you're eating without really realizing it. My doctor says to have 3 ounces of solid protein and half a cup of low fat low calorie vegetables and possibly half a cup of natural fruit. I agree you're doing a lot of cardio just going to work everyday. Your body however it could be really used to that exercise and you'll need to find something else to do outside of work. I'm a big fan of both lap swimming and water aerobics. If you're going to go swimming I highly recommend it waterproof mp3 player you can find them on Amazon.

Should I Go For A Fill Alone?
honk replied to Jlynn217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always go alone as well they're really not a big deal. -
When I've heard of The Milk diet in the past it seems to be European. Since your measurements are in liters it sounds like you're not here in the US. I agreed to use seltzer or something like that for the toast. Doctors use different protocol but all of them are trying to force the body to burn fat especially fat in the liver. The body prefers to burn sugar first before Protein and then fat. The issue with drinking wine is that it is all sugar and the the body will take the easy way out and burn sugar. Could you bring small Crystal Light packets or 1 of those mio containers and make your own sugar free drinks?

2Nd Pre-Op Day, Not Feeling Good, Help!!!!!

Okay this is gonna sound crazy but hear me out. I started swimming when I weighed over 365 pounds. I bought myself a fat lady swimsuit with a little dress on it and in the pool I went. The best part about Water exercises is that you are in the water and no 1 can see your body. I recommend either doing water aerobics because the instructor can help you choose movements that are good for your knees. Or doing lap swimming that you can do at your own pace. For independent water exercise or swimming I highly recommend a waterproof mp3 player. You can find them on Amazon and they make swimming so much better. Oh and by the way my first day of swimming I had to walk out in front of the swim team that rents part of the pool. So there were about 50 students and 50 parents watching their practice. If I can do that anybody can do it. I lost about 85 pounds with swimming and dieting before getting the band. While I do not have a new replacement I had a very bad knee for which I was getting injections. From that point I'm down about 155 pounds. I can now do 6 to 7 miles a day of walking

5 Lbs, 3 Days. (Surgery Nov 5)
honk replied to Nevara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't get not exercising. When I started working out (pre op) the only thing I could do at 365 pounds with a really bad knee was swim. If I could do that anyone who can walk to and from a car can exercise. Okay off my soap box. -
I add Costco brand flavor less fiber to my morning yogurt.
-
I didn't have liquid prep but I had lost 50 pounds.

5 Lbs, 3 Days. (Surgery Nov 5)
honk replied to Nevara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would not recommended slim fast too high in cals for the protein. Are you exercising? If not try for 1 hr daily. Can be just walking, swimming, water aerobics. -
Please don't take this as mean spirited. For most of us worrying about the carb level in fat free Greek yogurt is the least of our worries. For WLS patients it has excellent Protein level. Recent research also shows people who eat yogurt several times a week have lower blood pressure and less chance of heart attacks. I add Splendra to help with the sourness. For Breakfast (everyday) I have Chobani yogurt and add half a scoop of whey isolate Protein powder, flavorless fiber powder, Splendra (mix all together); and about 1/2 cup high protein Kashi Go Lean and some walnuts. About 300-350 calories for breakfast but I don't need a mid morning snack so I feel the cal. level is fine. Both my Nurse Practitioner and Nutritionist know about my breakfast for what it's worth.

6 Month Supervised Diet
honk replied to WeberStudent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most doctors submit your original weigh in to the insurance. Also most doctors want you to loose some weight before surgery to show you are commited to a new lifestyle.
