I use small portions of my favorites for the main meal. My family doesn't eat dessert until hours later really more like dinner time.

Sure. Nothing better than stealing a fry from your thin nephews' plate.

I did not follow the links but I have heard that wearing shapewear excessively leads to nerve damage. Plus how many men do you know who wear shapewear? If I'm exercising 7 + hours a week and eating less than 1200 calories a day people can look at me like I am I'm not wearing a girdle.

I'll be a little more supportive than some others. There's no reason why you can't start eating really healthy now and enjoy all the wonderful food on Thanksgiving just eat less of it. And then the day after go back to eating very conservatively. I intend on eating rather unhealthy food on Thanksgiving but I also plan on doing at least an hour at the gym before eating.

Personally I look at it as another reason not to spend the money! I've never really liked alcoholic drinks but I've certainly had my share of Diet Coke. When you go out however a Diet Coke in my area will cost you 2 - 2.50 which I think is kind of outrageous.

I found the healthier I eat including lowered salt amount the less I really miss drinking with eating. I agreed just don't pour any water and you won't be tempted to drink it.

If your doctor told you full liquids please stay on that diet. Yes it sucks but many of us have been there. I highly recommend smoooth tomato soup or squash soup that's been blended. For tomato soup I added non salt Mrs dash flavorings before heating it really helped the flavor . Blended apples or Greek yogurt are a mushy not a liquid ! And yes I know how difficult it is because I was not allowed mushys until date 15.

At Thanksgiving I would tell your family do you had a stomach test of some sort and that you are only allowed liquids. Bring your own supply with you and eat it. As long as everyone else can eat what they want they should care less what you eat

Why So Long Before Surgery?
honk replied to oklafarmgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember how many of the test your surgeon is going to require will probably be because heard by your insurance anyway. Also did your doctor give you a weight amount that you have to lose before surgery? If so that could take awhile. I had to lose about 35 pounds before surgery. Also this is the time for you to learn new food habits. I discovered what word my eating triggers. I no longer keep crackers or cookies or low fat chips in my house because I will eat them mindlessly. It's easy to see the surgery as the finish line by in reality its the start. -
Pre-Op Jitters/negative People

Okay I'm going to lay it on the line. Ask yourself how would they handle caring for you if you had a stroke. I had a stroke at 39 trust me it was not a joke. This is the life or death decision at least for me it was. -
Whey Protein/ Lactose Intolerance
honk replied to BandedBettyBoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whey isolate is the best type of protein for your body to burn. If you're going to do a different type of protein you may need to consume more grams of it. -
I drink right up until eating.

Seems Like Life Revolves Around Exercising And Food
honk replied to 2justme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Help - How Do You Know If U Need An Unfill?
honk replied to Domika03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you moved to solids too soon. I was told 24 he's liquid and 24 hours mushies -
I also wait to eat breakfast. I make one baggie 1/2 scoop protein powder, flavorless fiber, splendra. Second baggie 1/2 cup high protein kashi go lean and walnuts (chopped). Mix up first baggie into low fat Greek yogurt and then add second baggie. About 300 cals but great protein levels, lasts me 4 plus hours.

Low fat laughing cow cheese?
-
After a fill 1 day full liquids and then 1 day mushies.
-
My doctor said to weigh 3 oz of protein even during mushie stage.
-
Canned chicken or tuna made with laughing cow cheese are good mushie protein. Also low/non fat cottage or ricotta cheese

Not Feeling Full Like I Should
honk replied to Ibsweet1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not to be a downer but it might take 6 months to get restriction. I needed 10.6 CC's. For now measure out your food and then no seconds. Yes this is a will power diet for now. -
Liquid Protein Opinions Needed!
honk replied to RichGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree on premier protein ready to drink. Available Costco and Sam"s -
F.y.i my doctor says 1 day liquid second date mushy. The your issue may have been trying to eat solids a day two.
-
Your doctor is having you eat mostly protein in order to force your body to burn only protein and fat. In general your body prefers to burn carbs and sugar so adding crackers would be giving your body carbs to burn instead of again forcing it to burn fat. Yes the pre op diet sucks but its only for a couple weeks.
