Please speak to your doctor's office for directions that are clearer for you. My doctor also called for 3 ounces of mushy protein per meal. If you haven't already done so please get a kitchen scale for measuring your protein. I'm over two years out and I still measured my protein every meal. Since you were only eating 3 ounces of mushies the doctor might want use to add a protein shake to help with your hunger.

Feeling Discouraged!
honk replied to suzannelturner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As previously noted 1 to 2 pounds a week is what most doctors expect. Someone's start weight is also going to affect how quickly they lose. I have lost 100 pounds pre op so I've been a slower for loser. It also took me 6 months to get restrictions. Overall I average half pound a week or less at this point. Another thing to consider is activity level. Often people who do a lot of exercising lose faster. Even though I exercise 1 to 2 hours a day 7 days a week I'm still a slow loser. -
Do not take vitamins till okayed by doctor!! I was told to wait 2 weeks before restarting.

Ridiculous!!!!

How full has your band been ? I did not get ongoing restriction until 10.6. Plus band will never stop you 100% from eating. Esp. Sliders- any food that dissolves in your mouth. I would continue getting fills. You need to give it time. Took me over 6 months.

You don't need a trainer to work out. I tell myself I can skip my workout if I will also skip dinner. Trust me I never want to skip dinner.

How long after waking up? I wait until 9 to eat yogurt, even though I'm up at 6:30.

Constant Nausea, Gallbladder Or Too Tight?
honk replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had gallbladder removed years ago, never vomited. Sounds like you are to tight. Resorting to sliders is a major sign. -
The only thing I can't eat is raw carrots. To be truthful no need to have a last supper. Most will be able to eat favorite foods after healing from surgery, just less of them.
-
I was also allowed protein shakes during clears. Go figure. Smooth soups were week two. Try adding Mrs Dash before heating the broth.

Mushie/ Pureed Food Stage: Blender Or Food Processor?
honk replied to BandedBettyBoop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing I blended was fruited Greek yogurt. For mushies I had cottage/ricotta cheese, egg whites, canned chicken and tuna. -
Okay I will try to be constructive. Many bandsters cannot eat dry solids first thing in the morning. In fact some don't eat breakfast for several hours after waking. If you wake up starving I would recommend maybe a protein shake or Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. I would not recommend chicken or turkey.

Is Soda Bad Once In A While?
honk replied to kittylove32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realize that this would be a hassle. I recommend bringing drinks with you that are no calorie. I find my biggest challenges are when I am NOT prepared for situations that come up. Some are easier to deal with the others such as bringing protein bars in your car or keeping drinks there as well. I think it would be a very slippery slope you would end up drinking soda more and more which could cause a problem. Personally in that situation if I had to have a drink I would have chosen Juice. Perhaps even watering it down so that you could drink more ounces for the same amount of calories. -
This is along the lines of what doctor says as well.

I had the flu shot so hopefully I will not get the full blown flu. I have also had a bad stomach cramps for the last 3 or 4 days. Luckly no vomiting. As long as you are able to drink fluids I wouldn't worry that your band has slipped or something like that. I've had no desire to eat. I've been eating about 1 meal a day for the last couple days and just trying to stay hydrated.

Have Thrown Up Twice Today After Eating
honk replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too tight. Keeping it that way leads to eating sliders. These tend to be higher in cals leading to weight gain. -
I've lost that full feeling, now it's gone, gone gone
honk replied to tigk29's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor says 3 oz protein mushies. That has to be more than you are eating. In general though this is a will power diet for now. -
The only thing the band stop me from eating is raw carrots.
-
Once you go back to eating solids you'll gain it all back.
-
"Restriction" usually refers to feeling satisfied on 3 oz solid protein and some veggies/fruit and being able to go 4-5 hrs before feeling hungry.
-
Please speak to your doctor before taking vitamins. I was told to wait 2 weeks postop before taking vitamins.
-
Took me over 6 months to get restriction.
-
Drink a large glass of water before eating. I find the lower salt level the less thirsty I am.

Did You Have Trouble Finding Your Greenzone ?
honk replied to Linze's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10.6 in a 11 cc band. -
While not required I supplied a check in log from my gym for the last year. But I also went everyday (only day they are closed is Christmas).
