3 days post op - what is this pain in my chest???
honk replied to Niamia67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you supposed to be having yogurt this soon? I was not love yogurt until week 3. Personally I would lay off mushy's which is what yogurt is for at least another week. -
All I can tolerate is liquids, soft and mushies

Flu season is not yet over. I am a recruiter for a major MA hospital. All my new hires must get the flu shot until the the chief doc declares the season over; and it has been radio silence on that front. -
No prescription pain meds post op?
honk replied to Decemberbee45's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only used liquid tylenol. I had no gas pain and my reaction to the surgical tape was the purse worst part of my recovery. -
Did anyone have to pay additional fee?
honk replied to rdm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's just excess profit for the doctor! I think insurance companies should tell doctors if you want to charge these fees then we won't let are people use you. The first seminar I went to the hospital charge 400 dollar fee so I went to a better hospital who had no fee. -
Postponed from April 8 to June 10

I know your pain. I had to wait until a blood clot in the brain (stroke at 39) was resolved. I was a week away from surgery and had to go another 4 months! Up side I list 50 lbs before surgery. -
Premier ready to drink very good tasting and only 160 cals for 30 g protein.
-
I second the pure protein bars the peanut butter ones and the nut Carmel are pretty good. Personally I keep protein bars as a meal in the case of emergencies. My doctor doesn't believe in snacks. In general they have too many calories to eat them just because. The bars you mentioned sounds mean really more like candy bars. I think protein bars can be a slippery slope. The better they taste the more likely you are to eat them as snacks and as I mentioned above my doctor doesn't believe in snacks.

Probably needed additional tools to hold back organs/fat. As mentioned above the little incisions are practically invisible in a few months.
-
Definitely got worse for the first week even though the tape as not on my body! Get an over the counter cream. No use suffering!
-
I had a horrible reaction to the surgical tape. You could see exactly where they taped off the surgical field. I used a topical treatment from the pharmacy. I had NO glass pains. That allergy was by far the hardest part of my recovery!! The itching drove me crazy.

You can normally find healthier options when eating out. May cost you more but such is life. Most fast food places have grilled chicken sandwiches or salads. Just avoid Mayo and high fat dressings.

If your on mushies Greek yogurt is a great choice.
-
Are you on mushies day 7? I could not have yogurt until day 15. Greek yogurt is very thick for your pouch st this point.
-
In prep just say no to carbs! No more potatoes!!!!!

I've never PB'd and had maybe 3 stuck episodes BEFORE restriction (raw baby carrot too big of a bite; and cheap white bread too doughy). Being at restriction doesn't mean the band STOPS you from eating specific foods. The band helps me feel satiated on less food. If I go longer than 6 hours between meals ( which unfortunately happens everyday for me because of workout and commute) I gasp, feel hunger.

Confused, need some input
honk replied to jennygirl37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

honk replied to brianb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids plus protein shakes only for seven days. Chocolate milk is not a great choice right now. Only 9 g protein for 150 cals. -
Water aerobics 3 days week; since I got Xbox with Kinect been doing Zumba and dancing games the other 4. Still winter in NE can't wait to go on some walks.
-
Neither does alcohol lot of people on the site drink that.
-
Premier ready to drink protein shake available at Costco and Sam's. 160 calories 30 grams of protein and I think maybe 3 grams of carbs.

Pattern or a Problem: Your Thoughts (long post SORRY)
honk replied to LadyMaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You were clearly having some kind of issue. I must say however that my doctor doesn't do fluro fills either. However I've never had any issues so I don't know if you would do 1 in that event. -
My doctor has never said to eat via volume ie cups. Only ever said to eat 3 oz solid protein per meal.
