This is a will power diet for now. Make sure to eat solid protein (3oz), and low fat/cal/carb veggies. Also are you exercising? My doctor wants min 30 daily.

Most doctors say 1-2 lbs a week. This is going to take a while

In my recent visit to the weight loss surgeon's office my nurse practitioner asked if I have ever been tested for PCOS or thyroid problems. She feels based on my calorie intake and exercise that I should be losing a lot faster than I am. I will be having both my yearly physical and GYN appointment soon. Has anyone been treated for PCOS ie taking medication and has it helped you lose weight? I'm normally stay around 1000 calories a day and do at least an hour of cardio 7 days a week. I do mix up my exercises I'm not doing the same thing everyday. Over the summer I was doing 2.5 to 3 half hours of cardio everyday. And didn't lose anything for months. In the past when I've brought up thyroid issues with my PCP I always got the vibe that they saw me as another fat person trying to find excuses to be fat. And have to say I find it really frustrating considering I don't really know what more they could really expect me to do about losing weight them I'm already doing. I feel justified feeling this way because I've lost 170 pounds since my first visit to their office.

The band of isn't meant to stop you from eating anything! If helps you feel satisfied with smaller portions. So your doctor was right. Don't expect the band to stop you from eating pizza or bread. You need to choose to eat healthier.

So discouraged and I just need some support

I have Greek yogurt everyday for breakfast and my nurse approves. I don't worry about carbs from yogurt. Here's my tip. Greek yogurt+ 1/2 scoop whey isolate, unflavored Fiber powder, splendra. Mix. Add couple walnuts, 1/4-1/2 cup kashi go lean high Protein Cereal. Keeps me 4 plus hours. Wait an hour before drinking after meals. Agree about lean cuisine to high carbs and salt. I buy large roasted chicken have 3 oz chicken breast everyday for lunch. Add salsa or jar spaghetti sauce (low fat) And low fat cheese. Raw veggies about 1/2 cup fruit. -
Chewable papaya pills may help digest the food.

5 cc is a HUGE first fill. That said I did not get restriction until 10.6. What foods are you eating. Are you weighing protein? I was told 3 oz. If you don't weigh you will over eat. What carbs are you eating? The only carbs I eat are fruit, Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup high protein Kashi go lean and mostly raw veggies. I've cut out bread, crackers, potatoes, pasta, rice. -
Cals are too low. Can you give us sample menus? My doctor says to wait at least 1 year to get pregnant.

One meal means nothing. Telling yourself "I messed up today so I'll wait till Monday to eat healthy" would be a problem. My suggestion would be to eat one taco and fill the void with a protein (beans) or a veggie/salad.

Weight loss standstill before first fill?

Are you measuring your protein? My doctor wanted me from the time I started mushies to measure out 3 oz protein. This is a Will power diet for now. -

I have doctors that work out of teaching hospitals. They do ask me if the training doctors can attend my appointment. In the future when you make the appointment ask that no student nurses be present. The do however need to learn somewhere. -
I CAN eat what I want. I choose not to eat pasta, rice due to carb levels but I don't really like them anyway. Bread I do miss. Esp. Toasted with jam!

One week out and eating soft solids

Your band is probably empty. You won't feel full/satisfied from small portions until you get fills. -

Mrs. Dash non salt seasoning great added to smooth Soups before heating for more flavor. Low fat laughing cow for canned chicken or tuna; also good added to egg whites ( right at the end but the heat melts it a little bit). If you are going to eat sugar/fat free pudding cups; buy name brand. -

Pre-Made vs Whey Protein Powder
honk replied to nicolemm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have access to Costco or Sam's premier protein ready to drink is quite good. 160 calories for 30 grams of protein. -
Can't spot reduce. Swimming does create good core muscles though.

Speak to your doctor. I was at the gym day 4 on the treadmill 0 incline, day 11 the elliptical, 14 back swimming. Though I was working out prep so it wasn't a shock to my system.

Previously I have lost 100 pounds 3 times and gave it back. After a major health scare I lost 100 pounds and then decided to have lap band. I've since I lost another 70 but still really probably have another 50 or 60 to go. To me having the band helps me feel like I can keep it off this time.
-
The only time I've ever been gone a couple days about eating was when I had the flu and I was not at all hungry. I agree with other posters just because you can eat more then a band size meal doesn't mean you should. My nurse told me 3 ounces of protein and then probably half a cup of vegetable and a quarter to half a cup of fruit per meal.

I stay in the hospital overnight and spent all my time either in the toilet or sleeping.

ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE FOR WOMEN ONLY !!!
honk replied to MsRhonda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read of many women who had time of the month the day of surgery. Some were allowed to keep their own underwear with a pad others were given something to use from the hospital. While I'm not saying I wouldn't be embarrassed; they are medical professionals and I'm sure they're not going to be at all shocked. -

High protein pre-op diet verses liquid pre-op diet
honk replied to Dee123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I think you need to revisit your diet. I looked up online and slim fast ready to drink high protein is 190 calories. So if you have 5 of those in 1 day that would be all of your calories for the day. It seems the options you were given are probably instead of the slimfast not with the slim fast.
